Abstract

This resume provides an account of the work of the Bureau and it's establishment by an Act of Parliament in August 1916. The Medical Bureau is concerned solely with the administration of the medical provisions of the Act. Its main functions are to conduct and to direct or control the medical examinations provided for in the Act. The paper covers the changes in type of silicosis, classification into the three legal stages of silicosis, cancer of the lung and tuberculosis.
