Abstract

Proccesing plants currently have sophisticated regulation and control systems and there also systems of managment of the quality and laboratory variables, for the mine-plant transport managment, mineralogical extraction, characterization, maintenance managment were desgined to support specific operational business functions: to operate, maintain, control quality, manage the fleet, etc. The vision of systems dedicated to supporting specific business functions contradicts what is nowadays an integrated business operation, esenctially multidisciplinary and it which the managment and supervision process require access to heterogeneus information sources regarding their regarding their origin and managment system. The consecuence of ongoing pressure for operational excellence is the need of more "fine-lunning"of the processes must be adressed in a synchronized way. Hence, the need arises of restating the issue of operation and related information, for which a new conceptual and techonological focus is proposed aimed at the objetive of operational excellence.
