Abstract

Outline of situations when valuations required - from capital raisings and takeovers, stamp duty, rates and capital gains tax, to probate and litigation between joint venture parties. Definition of types of exploration and mining properties as background to discussion on what methodologies to use (from grass roots to operating mine). Discussion on nature of alluvial deposits in New Zealand and how their characteristics and tonnage/grade uncertainties affect choice of methodology. Assessment of risk factors in New Zealand û technical, financial and socio-political (legislation, access, Maori land rights, environmental). Discussion of appropriate methodologies.
