Abstract
Shear zones are tabular tructures which tend to occur either discordantly within, or
concordantly along the margins of, competent rock masse uch as plutons, sill or flows.
They contain deformed equivalents of their host rock and are common sites for gold
mineralization localized in tructure oriented y tematically relative to the shear zones
and internal linear fabric. Apan from genetic implications, hear zone analysis proves useful
in exploration for this type of deposit because the zones are generally wider and more continuous
than associated mineralization and because there is an element of predictability
to mineralization geometry (i.e. vein orientation. plunge).
