Abstract

Fundamentals of drying and the equipment used are reviewed. Dryers employed in the mineral industry include rotary dryers, fluid bed dryers, spray dryers, hearth dryers and rotary tray dryers. Concentrate characteristics, corresponding problems and handling methods are likewise discussed. Important factors include weighing and sampling, moisture content, market timetables, transportation availability and climatic conditions.
