Abstract

With the introduction of the Health and Safety in Employment (HSE) Act 1992 and the subsequent repeal of regulations pertaining to mining, there has been an upheaval of the management of health and safety in mines.  More than ever, employers know that they must ensure that their workers are competent to carry out their assigned tasks.
