Abstract

This article reviews factors of preg-robbing effect, occurring in the course of pressure oxidation of ore and concentrates, containing chloride compounds and so-called 'organic carbon'. The article also summarizes the main results of the studies and testwork conducted to overcome this effect. The following efficient preg-robbing mitigation methods have been noted: higher temperature of pressure oxidation process, preliminary removal of natural carbonaceous material from concentrate, chloride removal prior to concentrate pressure oxidation, and addition of water-soluble organic blanking agents, which suppress the adsorption activity of the native ore adsorbents. Keywords: preg-robbing, double-refractory gold concentrates, pyrite, arsenopyrite, blanking agents, pressure oxidation, autoclave leaching
