Abstract

At Cook Colliery a combination of main injection of the face coal, and mining into the floor has proved successful for the recovery of faceline falls. The strategy for preventing falls relies upon a conventional method of longwalling. improved geotechnical predictions, and continuous assessment of strata conditions. Different categories of faceline stability are recognised and an operating procedure has been developed for each category.
