Abstract

Until recently amalgamation has been the main process forextracting large gold particles from gravity concentrates obtainedduring the dressing of ores and placer gold deposits.Development of new technology for treating the gravityconcentrates was necessary because of the harmful effect ofmercury on subsequent production processes and theenvironment. The harmful effect of mercury is particularlyevident in the resin-in-pulp process that is widely applied inRussia.
