Abstract

The braking performance of underground, rubber-tired, non-coal mining vehicles is evaluated. Surveys of mining equipment and braking manufacturers and underground stopping tests are discussed as they relate to this evaluation. Stopping performance recommendations are included as well as related aspects of roadway construction and runaway vehicle protective devices.
