A study to determine the potential use of retaining structures in open pit backfilling. Research and review of the open pit mine environment, mine waste disposal, and past and current use of retaining structures. A development of specific structures, the culvert/ tunnel concept, and an anchor block retaining concept. The cost benefit of retaining structures used for in-pit backfilled waste.
