Abstract

The 64th Regular Meeting of the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute convened at Jackson Lake Lodge, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, and was in session at 10:00 a.m. The meeting was called to order by Past President .Tames Westfield. He introduced Mr. Raymond C. Lillie, President of Grand Teton Lodge Company, who welcomed the members to Jackson Lake Lodge. Mr. Lillie stated he had been with the organization since the Lodge was built. They had a snowstorm the day before our meeting so stated it was perfect weather for coal miners. Mr. Westfield introduced President Joe T. Taylor, Superintendent, York Canyon Mine, Kaiser Steel Corporation, Raton, New Mexico. Mr. Taylor was born in Miami, Florida. Attended the Colorado School of Mines and graduated in 1952. He was associated with Sunnyside Operations of Kaiser Steel Corporation in Utah until 1962. Was then transferred to the Koehler Mine in Raton, New Mexico, as Superintendent, and had charge of opening the new mine, York Canyon, and at the present time is in charge of Kaiser operations there.
