Abstract

US 4,185,996 -- Removal of arsenic and sulfur Impurities from arsenic-containing cobalt sulfide ore. The ore is oxidized In air at a temperature of 700 to 800°C for 3 to 8 hr to drive off the bulk of the sulfur The oxidized ore 1s heated with a reducing gas at a temperature of 700 to 800°C for 2 to 6 hr to volatilize arsenic, and the final calcine 1s leached with an acid to eliminate substantially all of the remaining arsenic.
