Abstract

The environments surrounding the iron and steel industry have changed greatly in recent years. Reported in this paper are the technologies adopted by the Japanese iron and steel industry to fititself to change in global steel demands, degradation of iron ore and coal, prolonging service life of the facilities and requirements of energy saving. In addition, innovative technologies for CO2 emission control in iron making processes are also discussed.
