Abstract

New Caledonia, Norfolk Island and northern- most New Zealand lie on a long, narrow, ridge system, the Norfolk Ridge System, which is sit- uated in the centre of a geologically complex region of ridges and basins between Pacific Basin oceanic crust and continental crust of Australia (see Eade, 1987).
