Abstract

This Bureau of Mines report presents a quantitative theoretical analysis of a coupled gasdynamics-heat release system involving the kinetics of water condensation in and behind the rarefaction wave in a shock tube using the method of characteristics. The merger of characteristics to form a shock wave is included.
