The Bureau of Mines investigated the thermodynamic properties of Bi203 (bismuth sesquioxide) and Sn02 (stannic oxide). Standard Gibbs energies of formation (AGfO) of these compounds were determined with high-temperature electromotive force (emf) cells using stabilized Zr02 (zirconia) as the electrolyte.
