Abstract

In any manufacturing process, the generation of secondary, associated or waste products along with the primary product is inevitable. Today there is great emphasis on the concept of waste minimisation. As part of that overall strategy, the search .for markets for these materials formally regarded as wastes, can mean the development of whole new industries. This paper examines some of the work necessary to develop recycling and markets for associated products with particular reference to iron and steelmaking slags.
