Abstract

The geological setting, morphology and physical properties of massive sulfide deposits must be taken into account when designing the underwater systems being currently constructed for mining of this type of marine minerals. Based on more than 20 years experience of hydrothermal mineralization studies in the northern equatorial part of the Mid Atlantic Ridge (MAR) we have provided the following conclusions:
