Abstract

Mines require ventilation to ensure an adequate atmosphere for the sustenance of life, and to dilute, render harmless and remove contaminants.This paper describes the developments in the United Kingdom (UK) from natural ventilation, through the introduction of fire and simple fans, to modern fully independent and remotely monitored and controlled installations.CITATION:Leeming, J R, 2017.
