The gross domestic product (GDP) was $977 million in 1981, the latest year for which information was available. 2 COMMODITY REVIEW Cement.-Construction of a cement plant with 500,000 tons per year capacity neared completion at Pobé. The operator of the plant, using locally produced limestone, was the Societe des Ciments d'Onigbolo, a joint venture between Benin and Nigeria.
