Abstract
The special mixing requirements for backfilling are discussed, and the problems associated with the mixing of coarse and deslimed slurries, as well as the tailings from the gold plant are outlined. The mixing of binders which are used to strengthen backfill and the parameters for the scale-up of mixer pilot plant work are also discussed
