Abstract

Explosive accidents in the United States have brought increased attention to emergency operation plans (EOP) at all facilities that manufacture, transport, or store hazardous materials – particularly explosive materials. Explosions are sudden, powerful, and complex events that are difficult to characterize in terms of the thermal, over pressure, and debris effects. Industry, regulatory, and public officials require emergency response planners to not only anticipate the blast effects of an explosion, but also to prepare an appropriate response.
