Abstract

The control of solubility of waste actinide ions, by conversion to highly insoluble mineral phases has been demonstrated in the laboratory. Actinide metal ions are removed from neutral pH solutions by a combined ion exchange-decomposition-mineralization process based on the application of the naturally-occurring hydrolytically unstable.polyphosphate organic compound phytic acid.
