Zarafshan/Newmont Joint Venture Muruntau Heap Leach Operation-A Case History

The Zarafshan/Newmont Joint Venture is currently operating in the Republic of Uzbekistan producing in excess of 400,000 oz. of gold per year from low grade oxide ore stockpiles adjacent to the Muruntau open pit gold mine located in the Kyzylkum desert of central Uzbekistan. Four stage crushing and screening produces a final product for heap leaching, Merrill-Crowe processing, and local refining for International market export.
