"Separation Technologies, LLC (ST) has developed a processing system based on triboelectric charging and electrostatic separation that provides the mineral processing industry a means to beneficiate fine materials with an entirely dry technology. In contrast to the other available electrostatic separation processes that are typically limited to particles greater than 75 µm in size, the ST belt separator is ideally suited for separation of very fine (<1 µm) to moderately coarse (500 µm) materials with very high throughputs.. The technology has been also successfully applied to the beneficiation of a variety of minerals including calcium carbonates, talc, and potash. TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEWThe ST separator utilizes electrical charge differences between materials produced by surface contact or triboelectric charging. When two materials are in contact, material with a higher affinity for electrons gains electrons and thus charges negative, while material with lower electron affinity charges positive. This contact exchange of charge is universally observed for all materials, at times causing electrostatic nuisances that are a problem in some industries. Electron affinity is dependent on the chemical composition of the particle surface and will result in substantial differential charging of materials in a mixture of discrete particles of different composition.In the ST separator (Figures 1 and 2), material is fed into the thin gap 0.9 – 1.5 cm (0.35 -0.6 in.) between two parallel planar electrodes. The particles are triboelectrically charged by interparticle contact. For example, in the case of coal combustion fly ash, a mixture of carbon particles and mineral particles, the positively charged carbon and the negatively charged mineral are attracted to opposite electrodes. The particles are then swept up by a continuous moving open-mesh belt and conveyed in opposite directions. The belt moves the particles adjacent to each electrode toward opposite ends of the separator. The electric field need only move the particles a tiny fraction of a centimeter to move a particle from a left-moving to a right-moving stream. The counter current flow of the separating particles and continual triboelectric charging by carbon-mineral collisions provides for a multistage separation and results in excellent purity and recovery in a single-pass unit. The high belt speed also enables very high throughputs, up to 40 tonnes per hour on a single separator. By controlling various process parameters, such as belt speed, feed point, electrode gap and feed rate, the ST process produces low carbon fly ash at carbon contents of 2 % ± 0.5% from feed fly ashes ranging in carbon from 4% to over 30%."

"HPGRs operate in a wide array of applications in mining and minerals. These range from relatively coarse crushing of copper and gold ores at one end of the spectrum to the processing of fine iron ore pellet feed and fine industrial mineral products at the other. Traditionally these circuits involve the treatment of relatively moist materials in pre-grinding circuits; using single stage HPGRs in open circuit or as a closed circuit operation with screening or partial product recycle. More recently, HPGR is increasingly deployed in dry grinding in combination with air classification. The high throughput demonstrated by larger HPGRs has stretched the application towards coarser size reduction duties for a number of new projects. At the same time, the basic principle of inter-particle crushing for generating a product with a high fines proportion gives ground to investigate applying the technology further towards finished product duties. The advantages that HPGR brings are clear. Multi Stage grinding enables energy efficient size reduction across more of the comminution circuit. Primary HPGR serves for a coarse grinding duty, whereas a secondary HPGR is geared towards generating a fine product for downstream processing or even a finished product. This publication summarizes some of the features of staged HPGR circuits and discusses some examples of operating and projected applications.INTRODUCTION In most HPGR applications, the grinding units are used as a single process stage, either in open circuit, such as for pebble crushing [Rose 2002, Westermeyer 2000, Van der Meer 2015] or in closed circuit with classification [Van der Meer 2009, 2012] or product recycling [Van der Meer 2010]. Where a higher plant capacity is required, the HPGRs are commonly installed in multiple lines in a parallel arrangement [Parker 2005, Koski 201, Vanderbeek 2006]. HPGRs can take a wide range of feed size distributions, and grind this down to a product with a high fines content. In general view, there is a limit on the size reduction range that even an HPGR can provide. Grinding down from a very coarse ore (e.g. 70-100 mm) to a very fine product (e.g. 100 microns range) is stretching the ability of a single stage HPGR circuit. Fine grinding generally requires a classification stage that returns the classifier oversize to the head of the HPGR circuit. From one point of view, it can be demonstrated that when recycling a large proportion of fines and middlings back to the HPGR feed results in an effective feed with an overrepresentation of middlings and fines, which will eventually reduce the grinding efficiency and consequently result in an increased recirculation mass flow [Van der Meer 2014]. From another point of view the large recycling mass puts a strain or even a limit on the capacity of present-day conveyor capacity."

"THE PACIFIC CONTINENTAL MARGIN OF CANADA is de-fined, for the purposes of this paper, as the area sea-ward from the present mainland coast of British Columbia to the foot of the continental slope. It thus coincides with A. Sutherland Brown's Insular Tectonic Belt. The region is limited to the north and south by the political boundary with the U.S.A., the location of which is still in dispute.The region can be subdivided into: (1) an interior trough comprising the Queen Char-lotte, Comox and Nanaimo basins; (2) a medial uplift comprising Vancouver Island and the Queen Charlotte Islands; and (3) a marginal shelf which is extremely narrow (Jess than 5 km) west of the Queen Charlotte Islands, widens to 160 km in Queen Charlotte Sound and is about 35 km wide west of Vancouver Island, where it is underlain by the Tofino sedimentary basin, with its• extension, the Juan de Fuca Basin, at the southern end.The medial uplift consists of a highly disturbed anticlinorium of mainly Mesozoic rocks, with a core of Palaeozoic. The rocks include thick sequences of eugeosynclinal volcanics and sediments. There is strati-graphical evidence of repeated interruption in sedi-mentation. By late Jurassic, the main eugeosynclinal phase was over and a successor basin was initiated in the interior' trough. This became filled, during Cre-taceous and Tertiary time, with sediments ranging in environment from bathyal turbidites to terrestrial conglomerates and coals. West of the medial uplift, another successor basin developed in early Tertiary times and became filled with mainly deep-water marine sediments. A third effusive sequence marks the base of the Tertiary on Graham Island and over most of the Hecate Strait region and Tofino Basin."

"The Company known as Rouyn Merger Mines, Limited, was formed in 1943 to take over the ownership of claims in Rouyn and Joannes townships formerly held by East Rouyn Mines, Limited, O'Neil Thompson Mines, Limited, and the Hosking-Cockeram Prospecting Syndicate. The NorandaSenneterre branch of the Canadian National railway passes in an approximately east-west direction through almost the entire length of the property. Since 1937, sixty-three diamond drill holes have been drilled from the surface to cross faults on the contact of the Timiskaming sediments with the Abitibi ( Keewatin) volcanics, along which ore has been found to occur. Late in 1945, the sinking of a 3-compartment inclined shaft in the andesite agglomerate beneath the ore zone was commenced. On January 17th, 1947, this shaft had a depth of 944 feet; cross-cuts have been driven north-northwest from the shaft at 150-foot intervals from depths of 200 to 800 feet on the shaft (Fig. 2).GEOLOGYThe western or East Rouyn part of the Rouyn Merger property in which ore is being mined adjoins the area owned by McWatters Gold Mines, Limited, on the east and is underlain by the eastern continuation of the McWatters formations. As at the McWatters, the rocks belong structurally to three areas: (1) the territory north of the Cadillac-Bouzan Lake fault, occupied almost wholly by Abitibi ( Keewatin) volcanics; (2) the area along the south boundary of the property, underlain by Timiskaming conglomerate and greywacke; and (3) the synclinal belt of McWatters volcanics and sediments between areas 1 and 2.1Bouzan fault of Hawley."

The mining industry in Turkey has been developing in the last 10 years. Mine wastes and tailings have thus been increasing, depending on the rising production rates. There are many problems related to accidents that occur in tailings damps. In this study, the applicability of the surface paste disposal (SPD) method for a Pb-Zn mine in western Turkey was examined. Density was 3.084 and specific surface area was 0.899 m2/g. The mill tailings have very low plasticity and show characteristics of clays and silts in terms of the Unified Soil Classification System. The particle size distribution of the tailings was 39.2% particles finer than 20 µm. The results of this study showed that the physical and chemical properties of mill tailings make them suitable for SPD.

"The Agnew Lake uranium deposits were discovered in 1953 following the discovery of the Elliot Lake deposits to the west. The original property was optioned to Kerr Addison Mines Limited who added additional claims by staking. Agnew Lake Mines Limited was incorporated in 1967 to develop the property and a shaft was sunk to 1040 metres and five levels developed before work was suspended due to low uranium prices at the end of1970.In 1974-75 the mine was dewatered and production started in 1977. By 1978 reserves were estimated at 10,000,000 tonnes averaging 0.35 kg. U10 , per tonne. Underground operations were terminated in 1980 although a uranium leaching operation was continued until early 1983.The deposits lie near the contact of Huronian metasediments with underlying Algoman granite. The sediments consist of arkose, conglomerate, argillite and quartzite with the uranium mineralogy mainly confined to oligomictic quartz pebble conglomerate. The higher uranium values are related to conglomerate with highest percentage of pebbles. The chief uranium minerals are uranothorite and monazite. It is of interest that the uranium thorium ratio differs appreciably from that of the Elliot Lake deposits. This fact along with the fact that the Elliot Lake sediments were deposited by paleocurrents from the northwest whereas the Agnew Lake sediments were deposited by paleocurrents from the northeast indicates widely separate sources for the deposits. It is suggested that the Agnew Lake uranium deposits are syngenetic placers deposited under anoxygenic atmospheric conditions."

"The development and industrial applications of magnetic liners have been around for decades. A Swedish company SKEGA first introduced the rubber magnetic liner, and then followed by the Chinese metal magnetic liners. Traditionally, both liners were used in secondary and regrind ball mills, especially for ores containing magnetic materials. Mostly steel balls or equivalent forged balls, usually below 60 mm in diameter, were used as grinding media. With the development of mineral resources over the years, SAG mills and larger ball mills have become the dominating components for comminution circuit design globally. Due to the larger ball mills and thus larger grinding balls (up to 80 mm) especially in non-ferrous metal industry, the application of magnetic liners has been very limited. Based on the new development of materials, the HMR Group Limited has been exploring new designs of magnetic liners which led to the invention of the Nano Steel Magnetic Liner (NSML). Recently, NSML had a successful application in a 5.5m x 6.5m ball mill with 80 mm balls at the Erdenet Copper Mine in Mongolia. Although the first set of liner had a service life of 12 months, the design of the second set was modified and improved to accommodate the operating conditions, which is expected to reach least 24 months service life. The original manganese steel liner only had about 8 months liner life.1. IntroductionMineral processing is an essential operation for the development and utilization of mineral resources. The effective concentration of various useful minerals depends on sufficient liberation of the mineral particles in the ore. The crushing and grinding process such as ball milling are the most common way to achieve proper liberation size. Mill liner is an eternal topic for the operations, not only because it protects the equipment, but also affects the mill grinding efficiency and availability. In recent years, magnetic mill liners have been developed that can easily meet the production targets with numerous benefits, such as zero maintenance, reducing specific energy consumption and improving grinding efficiency."

"This paper describes mineral processing test work on drill core samples from an ilmenite deposit in Terrebonne County just north of Montreal.Mineralogical examination showed that the intimate associa¬tion between ilmenite and hematite precluded their separation. The maximum concentrate grade was therefore limited to 22.9% Ti. Liberation of gangue from the hemo-ilmenite grains occurred around 400 µm, a size which proved to be too coarse for recovery by flotation.Other physical separation techniques, such as elec¬trodynamic, magnetic and jigging, were tried in order to take advantage of the relatively coarse liberation size. An all-flotation procedure and a combination of jigging and flotation yielded similar separations.IntroductionInco Metals Company, through its subsidiary Canico, optioned an ilmenite deposit in Terrebonne County, just north of Montreal, and conducted a drilling campaign to confirm previous geological assessments of the deposit and to provide core samples for mineralogical study. Parts of these core samples were used for mineral processing studies, which will be described in this report. The objective was to identify suitable upgrading procedures, to determine the optimum combination of concentrate grade and recovery, and to provide suitable batches of concentrate for further treatment."

"HistoricalBARYTES was mined in Nova Scotia as early as 1874 from a deposit at Five Islands, on the north shore of Minas Basin. The first record of the presence of the mineral at the Walton site appears in a report by Selwyn in l893, who states: ""Barytes in considerable quantity occurs in veins in lime-stones at Walton and Pembroke"". The exact site of the present workings was marked •on a map published by Fletcher in 1905.The economic •possibilities of this deposit, however, were not recognized until 1940, at which time we were at war with Germany, who up to that time had supplied 50 per cent of the world's requirements.At that time the Nova Scotia Department of Mines, recognizing the need for certain strategic minerals, induced Canadian Industrial Minerals, Limited, to send prospectors into 'the area to look for manganese. No manganese deposits were found, but a deposit of barytes was directed to their attention, and exploration and development work on the occurrence was proceeded with.IntroductionThe south shore of Minas Basin between the Avon river at Windsor and the Stewiacke river at Maitland has long been known as a potential source of mineral wealth. It had attracted the attention of mineralogists and in the past had produced considerable tonnages of manganese ore and gypsum. Depletion of ore in surface and near surface deposits resulted in a dwindling production, until today only deposits of gypsum are worked."

"The Duthie mine is on the southwest slope of Hudson Bay mountain 7 1/2 miles west of Smithers, British Columbia. A good motor road about 15 miles long connects the mine with the Canadian National railway at Smithers. The principal workings are on the Henderson group of claims between elevations of 3,200 and 4,000 feet above sea-level. Silver, lead, and zinc were produced from this mine between 1924 and 1930.Three adit drifts known as the Compressor, McPherson, and Thompson levels were driven along the Henderson vein-lode in 1922, and the following year the operating company, known as Duthie Mines, Limited, shipped some high-grade silver-lead-zinc ore. Further shipments of high-grade, handsorted ore were made in 1926, and in 1927 a modern flotation-type mill was built, having a capacity of 50 tons of ore a day. Mining operations were suspended in March 1930."

Porous copper and porous copper based alloys with controllable pore structure have been manufactured successfully by sintering evaporation process. This process consisted of mixing copper or copper based alloys with NaCl powders, hot pressing and final high-temperature sintering to evaporate the filler material of NaCl powders. NaCl was eliminated completely during vacuum sintering, and strong metallurgical bonding in the walls was achieved. The pores’ structural parameter (pore size, shape, and direction) and porosity can be controlled effectively. These porous copper and porous copper based alloys with controllable pore structure have great potential in many fields. Including heat dissipating materials, heat absorbing materials, chemical catalyst carriers, electromagnetic shielding materials, filtering materials, damping materials, silencing materials, battery electrode materials. INTRODUCTION The development of porous materials began in the 1960s. The research of activated carbon with high specific surface area made porous materials enter the stage of material research (Belyakov et al., 2008; Ferey et al., 2008). With the rapid development of science and technology, porous materials play an important role in material research, and gradually become an indispensable part of the material research field (Wu et al., 2012). The research of porous materials has gradually extended to metal, ceramics, plastics and glass and other fields. It has been successfully applied in many fields, such as functional materials, industrial production, aviation, medical materials, biochemistry and electronics, which fully shows that porous materials have considerable development prospects. Porous silicon, plastic porous materials and glass porous materials are the most widely used in the field of non-metallic porous materials (Capelle et al., 2012). Compared with non-metallic porous materials, metal porous materials have developed rapidly in the late 1980s and become new materials with good mechanical properties and excellent physical properties. Porous metal materials have many advantages, such as large specific surface, small specific gravity, good silencing effect, high stiffness, high electromagnetic shielding performance, good shock absorption performance, etc (Li et al., 1999; Ferey et al., 2008). Among its many applications, metal porous materials can be used as both functional materials and structural materials. In some cases, metal porous materials have dual functions and structures. It is a multi-purpose engineering material with excellent performance. At present, porous copper, porous aluminium and porous nickel are the most concerned materials (Chen et al., 2002; Yang et al., 2017; Liu et al., 2018). The preparation methods of porous copper and copper-based alloys mainly include self-propagating high temperature synthesis (SHS), capsule-free hot isostatic pressing (CF-HIP), spark plasma sintering (SPS) (Kvanin et al., 2008; Takahashi et al., 2008; Zhang et al., 2014). However, these methods can not accurately control pore structure parameters (including pore size, shape, orientation, distribution, etc.). In porous materials, pore structure plays an important role in the overall performance of materials. In order to control pore structure parameters accurately and optimize material performance, it is necessary to explore and develop new preparation technology. In this paper, the sintering evaporation process (SEP) was introduced for the preparation of porous copper and copper-based alloys. The core process of the preparation method is hot pressing and evaporative desalination. Hot pressing can make the pore orientation consistent. Evaporative desalination can ensure the complete removal of NaCl in the form of vapor in a short time, thus eliminating the corrosion of residual NaCl on the matrix metal (Gong et al., 2011).

Location and History The Sherritt Gordon mine is in northern Manitoba, one hundred miles north of The Pas and forty miles northeast of Flin Flon. The original discovery was made by a Cree indian, Philip Sherlett, in 1922. The claims lapsed in 1924 to be re-staked and optioned by various mining groups who carried out a certain amount of development work before relinquishing their options. In 1927 the present Company, Sherritt Gordon Mines, Limited, was formed to take over the property. Production commenced in 1931, but in the following year operations were suspended and it was not until 1937 that the prevailing price of copper pemitted resumption as an economic operation. The mine has operated continuously from that time to the present. Total production to the end of 1947 has been: Copper . . . . . . . . . 301,813 . .,345 pounds Zinc . . . . . . . . . . . 112,636 tons of concentrat (50% zinc) Gold . . . . . . . . . . 83,070 ounces Silver . . . . . . . . . 2,651,317 ounces General Geology The consolidated rocks in the vicinity of the mine, all of Precambrian age, are a series of gneisses and form a part of a great area of what are known as the Kisseynew gneisses. The Sherritt is the only known economic base-metal deposit to occur within the Kisseynew series. Extreme metamorphism has produced recrystallization that has imparted a decided igneous-like texture to many of the units. However, the gneisses are predominantly of sedimentary original although the most basic member, a hornblendegarnet gneiss, is considered to be an altered basic flow. Figure 1 illustrates the intricately folded structure and the succession of roe types. The footwall enclosing members are of sedimentary origin and represent quartzite and arkosic and greywacke derivatives. The contact footwall member is gneissic quartzite, a medium to coarse grained rock composed mainly of quartz with minor altered feldspar (orthoclase and plagioclase), muscovite, chloritized biotite, and magnetite. Most phases of this unit show varying degrees of granitization.

As the amount of construction information used in the growing construction field increases, the importance of efficient construction field management has been growing. Therefore, construction industry have been tried to introduce and conjugate various software and IT technology such as PMIS, Web Camera, RFID, GPS, PDA. However, existing IT technology especially PMIS have not been performed systematically because of difficulty of real time information collection and decision-making from the insufficient handy equipment. These problems make construction manager cannot efficiently respond to diverse condition occur in construction sites. In addition, after the completion, individual who use PMIS have to move another site and use another system so than cannot use information from previous sites. On the other hand, development of IT technology transmute PDA phone for text-based work like schedule management, internet research to smart phone for network based multimedia service. In other words, smart phone is not just IT equipment but new way for overall industry and it can satisfy the demand IT technology on construction sites. Therefore, the purpose of this study is introduce mobile based individual unit PMIS system using cloud computing and SNS which is in development progress. It is expected to be possible to collect and record the real-time information that occur at the site and make rapid decisions based on the recorded information, by converting the office works that are managed based on the site PC or Web, if the site management system that is based on the smart phones and Cloud computing that will be constructed through this research are utilized. After this study, it is necessary to research about interwork with project unit PMIS system and test on real construction site.

New underground mining technology is evolving through the use of large-diameter bore holes containing individually restricted charge weights. This article presents summary observations on cube-root scaling trials using single and rows of charge blasting in sand and in frozen ground. These observations have some bearing on the evolving underground practice, especially where charges of appropriate geometry are used.

"Calcite-cemented joints abound in the rock masses of Beishan area, which is the most potential area for the high-level radioactive waste (HLW) disposal of China. The mechanical properties of Beishan granite containing a calcite-cemented joint with a dip angle of 82° was investigated under uniaxial compression and the acoustic emission (AE) characteristics were also studied in this paper. Compared to intact granite, the calcite-cemented joint caused a decrease more than 50% in uniaxial compressive strength and a decrease more than 90% in shear strength. The Young’s modulus was also decreased, while the circumferential deformation of jointed granite was sharply increased. The AE monitoring system successfully recorded the process of micro-crack development and the results indicated that the risk of rock-burst could be reduced due to the appearance of calcite-cemented joint.INTRODUCTIONThe properties of jointed rocks differ considerably from that of intact rock. Due to the difficulties in specimen preparation, analogue experiments with artificially prefabricated fractures are often used to study the mechanical behavior of jointed rock (Chen et al. 2012; Kulatilake et al. 2001; Singh et al. 2001). However, natural joints are not quite similar to the artificial fractures and it is necessary to investigate the mechanical behavior of jointed rocks. Xie et al. 2011 studied the mechanical properties of marbles with natural joints by uniaxial compression tests and found that the uniaxial compressive strength of jointed rock is greatly decreased. With the unaxial compression tests, Jacobsson 2005, 2007 tested the intact and jointed granites, which were taken from the potential site for high-level radioactive waste (HLW) disposal of Sweden. However, no significant difference in strength or modulus was found. The above research results are inconsistent and it indicates the complexity of the mechanical properties of natural joints."

"Complex research of flotation concentrates of monomineral fractions of chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, pyrite, pyrrhotite included methods of adsorption of collectors, surface compounds by IR ATR, and surface films of flotoreagents by TEM. They revealed that the proportion of the parts of thionocarbamate (TC) and dithiophosphate had an effect on the adsorption rate of the components of minerals, on the presence of characteristic bands, and, what is an important, visualized surface film of organic flotation reagents on the particles of concentrates by TEM. The predominance of thionocarbamate in a composition selectively increases the adsorption rate constant of the components and recovery of chalcopyrite compared with sphalerite and galena. The highest flotation rate using TC is characteristic for chalcopyrite (0.62 min- 1) in case of individual use, and it's in combination with butyl xanthate (25% butyl xanthate or 3:1) 0.89 min-1 too. We studied the ternary blend - dithiophosphate: thionocarbamates: butyl xanthate. The increase of the proportion of butyl xanthate in combination reduces the contrast of the flotation rate among all sulfides.Practice flotation of refractory sulfide copper-zinc ores of the Urals (content sulfide iron - 75- 95%) confirmed that the use of a combination of selective collectors increases selective recovery of copper sulfide minerals up to 50% at the first fraction that is the conditioned copper concentrate. New selective sulfhydryl collectors resulted in high levels of recovery of copper into a concentrate - more than 90% - against 70-72% (butyl xanthate) from copper-pyrite ore. Low floatability of iron sulfides has been obtained by selective sulfhydryl collectors. Using weak selective sulfhydryl collectors can reduce pH into collective or selective flotation from pH 10-10.5 to pH = 7.2-7.5, which improves the quality of individual concentrates of nonferrous metals and their recovery. The same is true for polymetalic sulfide ore. The volume of gold recovery also increased."

"It is very important to reveal the lime dissolution mechanism in steelmaking slag, to promote its dissolution without calcium fluoride, which is now almost forbidden for use in most industrialized countries. In this research, the purpose was focused on the development of an experimental method to measure the mutual diffusivity of Ca2+ under the condition of lime dissolution into slag. By forming diffusion couples using a ""vacuum slag aspirating technique"", the method was established. The following mutual diffusivities of Ca2+, in CaO-SiO2-FeO slag systems, imitating oxygen steelmaking slag, were determined using this method:4.1*10-10 m2/s at 1400°C for 27wt.%CaO-53wt.%SiO2-20wt.%FeO slag,4.3* 10-10 m2/s and at 1400°C for 20wt.%CaO-40wt.%SiO2-40wt.%FeO slag, and 1.3*10-10 m2/s at 1250°C for 20wt.%CaO-40wt.%SiO2-40wt.%FeO slag.It was also verified that, if the basicity and ferrite content of the bulk slag are low, then a calcium silicate film forms on the lime surface, and drastically deters the lime dissolution."

DURING a recent trip across Canada and parts of the northern United States, the. writer examined some forty mine models. Construction -details and the uses to which the models were being put were outlined in a report to Eldorado Mining and Refining, Limited, and a specific model was proposed on the basis of the Company&apos;s particular needs at their Beaverlodge operation. It was felt, however, that portions of the report would be of some value to anyone contemplating building a mine model. For this reason, a synopsis of some of the more important aspects of the problem is presented here, together with a suggested model type that appears to have wide application. Thanks are due not only to Eldorado for permission to publish the following material, but also to the many mine personnel across Canada who allowed the writer to examine their models and gave freely of their time in discussion.

"During the period 1958-1980 seven deep shafts were sunk from the surface in the UK. From 1977 until 1989 sixteen deep shafts were sunk in the UK, all concrete lined. Subsequently from 1989 up to the present day no deep shafts have been sunk in the UK, a period of 30 years. Developments in the design and construction of deep shaft linings in the UK therefore were predominantly carried out throughout the period 1977–1989. This knowledge is recorded in several published papers by the author over that period which will be referred to in the paper. INTRODUCTION The paper includes a review of past precedent for the design of deep shaft concrete linings in the UK and sets out the principles for future designs, including the design load to be adopted and Factors of Safety (SFs) to be used in the design. Hydrostatic pressure increases with depth from the surface and therefore the concrete lining must increase in thickness and strength throughout its depth to resist the pressure. High strength concrete mixes were developed to enable economic linings to reach greater depths and these will be detailed. The ground conditions to sink through in the UK consist of predominantly competent (self-standing when excavated) rock, which can be water bearing, and hence a hydrostatic pressure resisting lining is required. The paper describes the construction measures needed to produce a dry shaft by way of pour length, joint detail, backwall grouting and joint sealing details. PAST PRECEDENT FOR UK DEEP SHAFT SINKING AND LINING Seven deep shafts were sunk from the surface in the UK from 1957–1977 over a 20-year period (Auld, 1987). These are listed in Table 1. Three shafts were for British Coal, two were for Cleveland Potash Ltd and two were for the Central Electricity Generating Board. The British Coal shafts were 5.486 m and 7.315 m internal diameter to depths of 550 m and 780 m, respectively. At 5.5 m internal diameter and a depth of 1150 m, the two Boulby Mine shafts for Cleveland Potash Ltd are currently the deepest shafts in the UK. The two Central Electricity Generating Board shafts of 5 m and 10 m internal diameter, to depths of 255 m and 440 m, respectively, were ventilation shafts for a pumped storage scheme. Six of the shafts were sunk by Thyssen (GB) Ltd and one by Cementation Mining Ltd."

"Inertia vibration crusher is a kind of vibration equipment which crushes ore by vibration. When the inertia vibration crusher works, ore between the two moving jaws is subjected to the high frequency contact force, which is produced by the two moving jaws with high frequency synchronous reciprocating motion. The synchronous motion of the two moving jaws depends on the self-synchronous feature of the inertia vibration crusher. To study the self-synchronous feature of the equipment, the dynamic model was established, in which relative parameters were taken into consideration. The kinematic coupling relations of the assemblies are discussed, and appropriate calculation method is chosen to solve the vibrating differential equation. Whether the two vibration exciter can realize synchronous operation depends on the ability of the vibration system's capture moment. Results show that though the two rotors’ motors and damping coefficients are different, and two jaws’ damping and stiffness coefficients are also different, as angular velocities of the two unbalanced rotors reach a certain value, the vibrating system can be stable. Their angular velocities tend to be equal, and the swings of the two moving jaws can be the same. The horizontal vibration and swing of the frame are large in a few seconds after starting the machine. When the system runs stably, the horizontal vibration and swing vanish, and the vertical vibration is stable. The study and its results can provide reference for the optimization design and parameter setting of inertia vibration crusher and related vibratory equipments.INTRODUCTIONMaterials can be easily broken by using the inertia force of the vibration exciter, which can effectively realize the selective crushing, reducing excessive combinations and the energy consumption, as introduced by Zhang in 2005. The initial micro crack between crystals in the material increases and new cracks can be manufactured because of the high frequency impact and the extrusion of the vibration crusher, so vibration crushing equipment can make it possible for any high strength brittle material to be broken theoretically. Inertia cone crusher and inertia vibration crusher have been successfully used in the treatment of metallurgical slag and construction waste, and it verifies the efficiency of vibration crushing."
