The role of our industry is essential to future societal needs and to set the foundation for a better world, it?s important to built trust and relationships inside your global team, within communities and together with stakeholders. The objective of this paper is to raise awareness of the importance of including “culture” as one of the four pillars of sustainability and to highlight the disjointed nature of the existing concept of sustainability and the goal of that concept. In other words, the conflicting propositions between the western beliefs that set the foundation of the sustainability concept and the eastern beliefs that aims to have sustainability as an end result. The incorporation of “culture” aims to find a balance, which unites these opposite perspectives to result in a more harmonious solution for society.

"The paper point out about on the use of ion exchange resins for adsorption of gold from ammoniacal thiosulfate solutions. In this sense, the gold can be recovered from ammonium thiosulfate solutions with strong base resins. The amount of gold loaded onto the resin in a batch process is a function of gold concentration in solution, amount of resin, volume of solution, copper and competing ions concentration in solution. Thiosulfate concentration in leaching solution has influence on gold loadings onto resins; in contrast, ammonia concentration in solutions has no influence on gold loadings. Gold seems to be loaded onto the resin preferentially over copper - thiosulfatecomplexes and also over thiosulfate ions. Polythionate ions strongly compete with gold and copper thiosulfate complexes for resin sites. This causes reduction on gold and copper recoveries from the leaching solutions. Even more, polythionates are produced in leaching solutions when thiosulfate is oxidized by the action of both copper and oxygen. "

Laboratory testing confirmed published data, and was subsequently verified on site at Chambishi in a pilot test program. Based on the testwork data, a commercial unit is being installed at Chambishi.

Catchment basin sampling allows for rapid assessment of large areas. Stream sediment surveys are a common tool used in regional exploration. The difficulty in detecting geochemical anomalies in stream sediment data from large regional datasets lies in finding the background values of pathfinder elements due to variable lithologies that could be sampled within a single basin. Much work in the recent years has focused on identifying the characteristics of igneous rocks associated with porphyry Cu deposit, and thus to identify potential fertility indices that can be used in an exploration context. These avenues include a combination of lithogeochemistry (e.g. Sr/Y ratios) and mineral (e.g. zircon and apatite) trace element geochemistry. Understanding what these fertility indices tell the geologist about magmatic processes is important to their application in a successful exploration program.

This paper point out the discussion and evaluation of the non-conventional water resources; the discussion of the results of a multicriteria analysis which allows understanding and evaluating the differences; advantages and disadvantages from the technical-economical, social and environmental point of view of the non conventional water supply options: re use of municipal waste water as compared to seawater supply and its two sub options: raw seawater and desalinated seawater. The results show that there are advantages and disadvantages to each approach, but that use of non-conventional water resources is a viable option for mining companies.

Facing the rapid proliferation of informal artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) in the 2000s, states with commodity-dependent economies pursued different strategies to enforce regulations to the activity. This article assesses the effectiveness of these strategies in increasing compliance. We leverage a view of policy effectiveness that considers the type of state-society relations a policy foster. We look at how different state-society relations impact the relevance a policy has to the subject it attempts to regulate. We argue that cooperation helps the state overcome its limitations on the knowledge of ASM and its limited institutional powers to enforce regulations alone. By learning about the activity in question and developing ties with the informal miners, the state can produce feasible regulation that is more likely to be followed.
