"A gold has been leached with ammonium thiosulfate solution and several leaching conditions have been studied. The leached solution has been recovered by solvent extraction and the optimum conditions have been investigated.SUMMARYIn this investigation, a sponge gold sample (99.92% pure) has been leached with ammonium thiosulfate solution. The effects of CuSO4, (NH4)2S2O3, (NH4)2SO4, NH4OH and retention time on the gold leaching % (extraction %) and thiosulfate oxidation % (consumption %) have been studied. The copper ion acts as a catalyst in gold dissolution. On the other hand, it also accelerates oxidation of thiosulfate (consumption). It was found in this study that the best gold extraction condition was obtained at 43.2 ks with 0.8 – 1.0x103 mol/m3 (NH4)2S2O3, 30 mol/m3 CuSO4, 2.0 – 3.0x103 mol/m3 NH4OH, 0.4 – 0.5x103 mol/m3 (NH4)2SO4, pH 10±0.2 and 150 rpm. The thiosulfate oxidation was about 15% of the initial concentration."

"In excess of 24 x 106 tons (Eskom, 1997) of coal-derived fly ash is produced annually in South Africa for the production of electric power. A large quantity of this ash is disposed of as a solid waste in landfills, thus posing a serious environmental problem. Due to the shortage of landfill sites, new ways of utilising fly ash are needed. Recently several authors have shown that various combustion fly ashes can be converted into zeolites to obtain industrial products with applicability in environmental management. Geopolymerisation has emerged during the last few years as a possible solution to some waste stabilisation and solidification problems. henolic compounds have been shown to be toxic to soil microorganisms at the parts-per-million level. Indeed several of the organic compounds classified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as priority pollutants, are phenols. Immobilisation of phenols by adsorption on zeolites and encapsulation in a geopolymer appears to be a promising solution to this problem.This paper reports a technique for the production of a low-silica sodium zeolitic material from fly ash (zeolite NaP1), and its application for the stabilisation of phenols by adsorption and subsequent encapsulation in a geopolymer matrix. A commercial zeolite, clinoptilolite was also utilised as an adsorbent. Due to their uniform pore sizes and large surface areas, zeolitic materials are suitable for ion exchange and adsorption of certain organic substances. Adsorption data show that the commercial zeolite, clinoptilolite was an effective adsorbent for organics. Adsorption data showed that between 51.2 ppm and 74.3 ppm of chlorophenol or between 15.4 ppm and 32.5 ppm of phenol could be adsorbed. Physical encapsulation of the coated zeolite loaded with organic within a geopolymeric matrix increased the compressive strength of the matrix from 28.80 kN to 40.79 kN. Leaching data for the various geopolymer matrices with encapsulated and loaded zeolites show no organics being leached from the system at a detection level of 2ppm. According to the SABS these would have been acceptable organic concentrations within a waste water stream."

For its surface features, micro-sized hematite is usually difficult to recover by magnetic separation; especially, the existing high gradient magnetic separator in industry can not utilize collecting matrix with thin silky rods for its property of being easily blocked; the lower size limit for recovery of micro-sized weak magnetic minerals is about 0.019mm, some even is 0.037mm. This paper introduces the application of the combined new technique of water-air joint discharging of concentrate and collecting matrix with different diameter silky rods in the field of recovery of micro-sized hematite by high gradient magnetic separator. The commercial test result for recovery of a certain hematite with size about ?0.037mm shows that the recovery can be promoted by 16.81% with basically same concentrate grade.

Lead in environment often causes a serious health hazard. The removal of Pb2+ from aqueous phase is a beneficial project. In this paper, deposited Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S.c.) was chosen as adsorbent, Pb2+ ions as adsorbate, and the process of biosorption was studied. The dynamics of the adsorption was investigated. The adsorption mechanism of Pb2+ by S.c. cells was also investigated by detecting microstructure, zeta potential under different pH value, FT-IR spectra of the S.c. particles before and after biosorption. It was shown that the biosorption of Pb2+ by deposited S. c. is a rapid process, and the adsorbing equilibrium is reached within 10 minutes. The Zero point of zeta potential of S.c. cells is pH=3.3. When 2.0<pH<3.3, there exists biosorption (biosorption rate 76%~88%), which means static bio-sorption been not the only kind of biosorption. FT-IR spectrum analysis showed that groups on bacteria surface were mainly characteristic groups of protein and amylase; oxo-groups and nitric-groups on S.c. cell surface could chelate with heavy metal ions. Chemical adsorption might exist in the process.

In recent years many creative technologies are applied to SLon vertical ring and pulsating high gradient magnetic separators. SLon-2500 and SLon-3000 vertical ring and pulsating high gradient magnetic separators are created towards larger scale. Through optimizing the magnetic system and lowering the electric current density, their energy consumption is obviously dropped. New magnetic matrixes are developed to raise the beneficial efficiency of valuable minerals. Special SLon vertical ring and pulsating high gradient magnetic separators are developed which can treat coarser particles of 0-5 mm. Through these technology creations, the mineral processing efficiency of SLon magnetic separators is further raised and their processing cost dropped. Therefore, they have been found wider applications. SLon-2500 applied in Essar Steel of India. In 2007, Essar Steel did a test on its Kirandul hematite ore with SLon magnetic separator and got very good results. The feed grade is 59.77%Fe, after SLon one roughing and one scavenging, the total iron concentrate grade is 65.00%Fe and iron recovery 93.86%. In 2008-2010, the company bought 10 SLon-2500 magnetic separators to treat such iron ores. In 2010 the first SLon-3000 was applied to processing ilmenite. The magnetite-ilmenite deposit is located in Pan Zhi Hua, Si Chuan Province of China. The ore processing flow sheet is: Drum low intensity magnetic separator is used to take out magnetite, and then the SLon-3000 is used to recover ilmenite for roughing. The mags of the SLon-3000 are further cleaned by flotation. The SLon-3000 average operational results are: feed grade 9.52%TiO2, mags grade 17.43%TiO2, mags mass ratio 41.01%, TiO2 recovery 75.09%, non-mags grade 4.02% TiO2, non-mags mass ratio 58.99%. SLon magnetic separators Applied to treat 0-5mm limonite: The feed of SLon magnetic separator is usually 0-2 mm which needs to be ground by ball mill. As many Chinese iron ores are poor grades, if we can throw part of tails before grinding, the grinding cost will be greatly reduced. In 2010, a SLon-1500 and a SLon-2000 were specially built to treat 0-5 mm limonite. The feed grade is 26.51%Fe, mags grade 53.20%Fe, iron recovery 64.26, and tails grade 13.66% Fe. SLon-2500 applied to purify quartz. In 2009, a SLon-2500 magnetic separator was applied to purify quartz in Shan Xi province. Its feed is 0-1mm quartz which contains 0.15%-0.25%Fe2O3, the designed non-mags grade need to be less 0.08% Fe2O3. The production results of SLon-2500 non-mags are 0.05-0.06% Fe2O3, much better than the designed data. SLon applied in Si Jia Ying Iron Mine to recover hematite. Si Jia Ying is a big oxidized iron mine located in He Bei Province of China. In 2005-2010, a plant annually treating 10 million tons of oxidized iron ore was built in which 39 SLon magnetic separators are applied. The total flow sheet results are: Feed grade 30.44%Fe, iron concentrate grade 66%Fe, iron recovery 80%Fe, tails grade 9.65Fe%. SLon applied to recover specularite. Li Lou Iron Mine in An Hui Province of China built a plant annually processing 5 million tons of iron ore in 2010-2011. 25 SLon-2000 magnetic separators are applied to recover specularite. The total flow sheet results are: Feed grade 31.65%Fe, iron concentrate grade 65%Fe, iron recovery 80%Fe, tails grade 10.37%Fe. SLon applied in Da Hong Shan Iron Mine. Da Hong Shan Iron Mine is located in Yun Nan province of China. It treats 4.5 million tons of oxidized iron ore annually. 15 SLon-2000 magnetic separators are applied to recover hematite. The total flow sheet results are: Feed grade 35.61%Fe, iron concentrate grade 64.95%Fe, iron recovery 74.08%Fe, tails grade 15.55%. "The article highlights the new procedure of choosing special methods of disintegration for very complicated rare ores. Especially, there is a complex approach to criteria of comparing different types of crashing machines. Criteria are as follows: degree of crashing, degree of grinding, degree of slime creation and the new creations criteria for selection. The procedure is tested on tantalium and zelestinium ore. A new methods was shown the preference impact crashing machine MD-7 for zelestinium ore. In product of crashing 0,050 mm size are 9.4 %, 0,005 mm size – 2.5 %.This is gut result, and show the best indexes of slime creation. The check of the proposed new methods was done when comparing the crushing of tantalium ores of the Otboynoe deposit in cone inertial and centrifugal impact crushers and roller press. A research was conducted different crashing machines under laboratory and semi-industrial conditions. Different operation modes of crushers were also checked. The comparison of the crushing selectivity criterion and degree of crashing showed that the centrifugal impact crusher (CC) and roller press (RP) has the lower indexes than the cone inertial crusher (CIC). Degrees of crashing for different crashing machines are:centrifugal impact crusher – 10.1;roller press – 10.8;cone inertial crusher – 14.2. The crusher CC the selection criterion is 0,632 units, RP – 0.730, where as for the crusher CIC – 0.848 units. The best crushing mode for the crusher CIC-300? is as follows: turning angle of debalance is 0°, peripheral speed of a cone rotation – 1420 r.p.m, specific energy consumption- 4.99 kW*t/t. Crusher CIC-300? is the best for tantalium ores of the Otboynoe deposit. The new methodic are verification.INTRODUCTION Rare metal concentration circuits are complex, energy-intensive, and costly. The reasons for this include the multimetal nature of the rare metal ores, their volatile material composition and low grade. That is why careful selection of ore preparation circuits is of great importance for minimizing the energy inputs and maximizing the liberation of the valuable minerals. Recent research (Khopunov, 2011, Gazaleeva, 2015) has demonstrated that the most efficient comminution processes available to the mineral processing industry are selective disintegration, crushing and grinding, allowing to liberate the mineral particles along the cleavage in the comminution process. These methods are indispensable for the processing of finely disseminated refractory ores prone to slime formation. Many rare metal ores found in Russia are of this type."

The purification process of water-mining carnallite and rough potassium chloride concentrate from Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Group Co. Ltd. are investigated by the preprocessing-reverse flotation technology respectively. The results show that the impurities such as calcium sulfate and sodium chloride can be effectively removed from water-mining carnallite ore and rough potassium chloride concentrate by the new technology, the low-sodium carnallite is obtained and the final potassium chloride product greatly upgraded. The content and the recovery of KCl in the low-sodium carnallite are 25.78% and 97.50%, meanwhile the content of NaCl, CaSO4 in the low-sodium carnallite are 0.56% and 0.24%, and the removal of sodium chloride and calcium sulfate in the low-sodium carnallite are 97.48%, 85.10% respectively. The KCl content and recovery of high quality potassium chloride product are 98.25%, 96.70%, and CaSO4 content is 0.40% with 83.24% calcium sulfate removed in the high quality potassium chloride product.

"It has been known for sometime that as wear occurs in tumbling mills there is an associated change in mill throughput. These changes have traditionally been simplistically, attributed to “mill volume effects”. New high fidelity simulation (HFS) tools (involving DEM, CFD and Breakage models) are now giving new “microscale” insights into the complex interactions that occur between evolving lifter/liner profiles and breakage. An illustration of this analysis is shown in Figure 1 below.Here we see that after a new lining is installed (Region I) the wearing process reduces the liner thickness resulting in a larger power draw and an associated higher throughput until Region II is reached. By this point the lifter height is reduced significantly changing charge motion (less cataracting) the power begins to decline, but the comminution efficiency increases with this type of “calmer” breakage environment therefore the throughput continues to increase. In Region III the lifter is no longer providing the minimum required charge lifting action, the power and the throughput both drop off significantly. In the last two stages the behavior is especially complex because throughput is not linearly related to power since grinding efficiency is changing.The study described here shows that these new HFS tools allow the design of wear part profiles which will maximize mill productivity over the entire life of liner/lifter systems. A simple example of such a design procedure is shown involving the selection of a sinusoidal profile for a 34 ft diameter SAG mill.The paper discusses how the principles exposed in this simple example can be applied to search for an optimal profile in which non-standard modifications are allowed to compensate for throughput or wear shortcomings of standard profiles."

Limestone is used for neutralization of acid leachates in a number of hydrometallurgical processes. The aim of this study was to clarify how limestone ground to different particle sizes can neutralize sulfuric acid. The laboratory scale ball mill was used in grinding experiments carried out using ball sizes of 20, 30 and 40 mm and volumetric slurry densities of 30, 40 and 50 percents. Varied grinding times were used in order to produce limestone samples with different particle size classes on which the neutralization potential and rate were determined. The results of the study showed that the neutralization potential of limestone is not dependent on its particle size between 5 and 120 µm. However, the particle size strongly affected the neutralization rate of sulfuric acid: The smaller the particle size, the higher the rate of neutralization. Thus, when optimizing the cost efficiency of the process, the optimal degree of grinding should be considered taking in account the required residence time in neutralization phase.

"The major platinum producers in South Africa make use of electric furnaces for the melting of platinum group metal (PGM) bearing nickel – copper concentrates. To gain better understanding of the furnace operation, research was conducted at CSIRO Minerals in Melbourne, Australia. One aspect of the research project was the investigation of the factors affecting the electrical conductivity of melter type slags.Electrical conduction in slags can occur through two mechanisms: ionic and electronic. There is good understanding of the ionic mechanism. In slags containing high levels of iron, the dominant mechanism is electronic as a result of charge hopping (electrons or holes) between ferric and ferrous ions. There is limited understanding of the electronic mechanism and one of the aims of the research was to investigate this mechanism further.Experimental work was carried out at 1450 °C on Al2O3–CaO–FeOx–MgO–SiO2 slags similar in composition to the melter slags (typical composition range (wt%): Al2O3: 5, CaO: 5-15, FeOx: 10-30, MgO: 15-25, SiO2: 40-60). The approach was to vary the oxidation state of three different basicity slags and measure the conductivity response. The slags had molar (CaO+MgO)/(Al2O3+SiO2) ratios of 0.43, 0.64 and 0.94 and FeOx contents of up to 40wt%. A twoelectrode technique was employed with a shallow layer of slag contained in a magnesia crucible. The small amount of slag facilitated relatively quick equilibration (up to one hour) with the gas atmosphere. Experiments were typically started in air and sequentially reduced using different ratios of CO and CO2 gases.Conductivity increased with increasing basicity and increased significantly with iron oxide content. Above 20wt% FeOx, electronic conduction was significant and the conductivity varied with the oxidation state of the slag. The typical response of the conductivity to the change in oxidation state was the following: starting in air, as the slags became more reduced, the electrical conductivity increased to a maximum at around pO2 = 10-7 to 10-4 atm and then decreased with further reduction. The value of the pO2 at which the maximum occurred was dependent on the total iron oxide content and basicity of the slag. The magnitude of the conductivity of the slags increased with increasing FeOx content in a range of 20 to 170 S/m for 20 to 40wt% FeOx. For a given FeOx content in the slags, the oxidation state dependence of the conductivity varied with slag basicity. The trend observed was that the maximum in the conductivity occurred at higher oxygen partial pressures for the lower basicity slags."

"In disintegrating solid ores with mineral values disseminated in them, one of the principal tasks is to selectively separate valuable mineral particles from the matrix in which they reside, striving at the same time to keep their natural shape and size as intact as possible.The conventional mechanical disintegration methods do not meet this most important requirement in full. The other major objective here is to reduce electric power consumption during the fragmentation stage, since up to 65 per cent of the total power consumption at concentrators processing ores of non-ferrous, ferrous, rare, and precious metals is spent on disintegration steps.Numerous experiments conducted on dozens of ore types (tin, tungsten, and many others, as well as on rock containing diamonds, rubies, emeralds, etc.) have invariably demonstrated by far superior integrity of mineral values as compared with that obtained by mechanical as well as other types of disintegration.However, the process remains as power-intensive as ever which is due to the imperfect nature of the electro-technical devices that convert the network electric current into high-voltage electric impulses responsible for the disintegration process.The maximum capacity attained in disintegrating the hardest materials from 40 mm to 2 mm size in a single operating chamber with four high-voltage electrodes does not exceed 1.0-1.5 t/h. Attempts at increasing the number of electrodes and the capacity of the operating chamber have failed so far because of high overall dimensions and mass of the electrical part of the installation supplying the chamber with pulsating current, as well as of the commutation requirements. At the same time, a number of overseas operations have reported a significant breakthrough in their attempts to reduce dozens of times the overall dimensions and mass of the discharge impulse generating installation (EIS), which enables us to contemplate to increase the capacity of the EIS at least ten times in the nearest future. Yet, even with the currently achieved capacity of the EIS, these installations have found wide use in geological surveying, precious and semi-precious stones production, in grinding super hard materials, etc., since they provide spectacular selectivity of disintegration and thus the integrity of valuable mineral crystals."

"The annual global production of primary aluminium was about 22 million tons in the year 2000. This represents the second largest production rate in the world market after steel. Experts are predicting that the global demand for aluminium will rise in the near future.In contrast to other metals such as copper, the recycling of aluminium is considered relatively difficult. There are two main alloying groups, namely cast and wrought. In the case of aluminium it is important that the constituents within the scrap aluminium to be smelted are clearly identified. Within the secondary remelting process alloying does take place, but a removal of unwanted metal constituents is problematic. Therefore mixed aluminium scrap (not genuine in-house collected material) can only be used to produce cast aluminium. Thus, in other words a down-cycling of wrought (extrusions and rolled) products occurs. However, in spite of these difficulties there is an increasing trend to produce aluminium from secondary scrap (approx. 35% in Germany). Similar trends have been identified in the USA and other industrialised countries. This development is mainly caused by the high energy consumption for the production of aluminium from bauxite. Producing aluminium from scrap is saving about 95 % of the energy in comparison to the processing of primary raw materials.An improvement in sorting technology is necessary to separate wrought and cast alloys of aluminium as the absolute amount of recovery from old scrap is higher than the demand for cast.This contribution presents some alternative methods, utilizing automatic picking technologies, which will be used to separate secondary aluminium in the future. During the recent years, some major progresses have been made in automatic picking technologies for different applications in the processing of primary and secondary materials.For the sorting of aluminium scrap a special additional sensor will be necessary. The best detection will ultimately be based on online elemental analysis of single particles. First investigations in the field of laser based systems for these applications have already been performed several years ago. One of the laser based techniques is the laserinduced breakdown spectrometry (LIBS)."

Different strains of "silicate" bacteria were used to improve the quality of kaolin by different ways of treatment. All strains formed large slimy capsules consisting of exopolysaccharides and were related to different species of the genus Bacillus, mainly to B. circulans and B. mucilaginosus. It was found that even a short contact of some hours of well developed cultures of these bacteria resulted in improvement of the bending strength and the other ceramic properties of the kaolin. The improvement was connected with the action of some secreted microbial metabolites such as soluble heteropolysccharides, monosugars and organic acids. The best results were achieved by continuous cultivation of bacteria in the presence of kaolin with a high relative humidity and subjected to periodic stirring.

"The analysis of laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) combines remote sensing techniques with laser spectroscopy. Over variable distances different rock types are identified or changes in the quality of one rock type are recognised. LIF Analysers operate non-destructive, non-contact, on-line and in real-time. Installed over conveyors or over driveways the analysers ""look"" at the moving bulk solids 20 times per second and provide in real-time information for downstream sorting, blending or optimisation of processing. LIF Analysers recognise rock types (hardness information or dilution control), degrees of alteration, degrees of oxidation and –semi-quantitative- content of certain minerals in an ore. Only under favourable conditions quantitative assay information can be obtained, as e.g. the phosphorus content of Kiruna type iron ore.The main application of LIF Analysers is seen in big open pit operations, where the muck is trucked to an in-pit crusher and the crushed rock conveyed out of the pit to its respective destination: e.g. the primary high grade ore to the mill, the low grade or oxidised ore to the leach pads and the internal waste to the dumps.In underground mining and especially in block caving operations dilution control is of utmost importance. Here a LIF Analyser mounted on the back of a pick-up truck can be moved from drawpoint to drawpoint and quickly assess the degree of dilution.Closer to the mill the stockpile management based on LIF analysis will lead to stockpiles sorted according to rock type (hardness), degrees of alteration and oxidation. In case of direct feeding rom ore to the mill the knowledge of the type and quality of all the material between the in-pit crusher and the mill facilitates optimisation of e.g. reagent dosage."

"Fine valuable particles are often lost to flotation tailings streams due to inefficient collection by air bubbles as well as passivation of surfaces by oxidation and slimes. The application of high-shear hydrodynamic cavitation devices (HCDs) to overcome this problem has already proven to be a considerable success in the industry. This paper details the results of further investigations that were undertaken at Mintek to better understand the mechanisms involved when preconditioning feed slurries in an HCD. By promoting inter-particle attrition and conditions of high shear within the reactor, cleaning of particle surfaces is enhanced as well as the formation of superfine (nano) bubbles which are believed to aid their agglomeration and subsequent collection by normal sized bubbles. In order to broaden the envelope of understanding with regard to application of the technology, rather than tailings material as investigated earlier, a Platinum Group Mineral (PGM) UG2 ore from the Bushveld Complex in South Africa was used in this study. The results of a series of batch flotation tests in a 10L Denver cell are presented, being conducted after the feed has been subjected to different methods of preconditioning. It was demonstrated that the preconditioning significantly improved the flotation kinetics of the PGMs, the optimum being obtained after around 20 passes through the reactor. This was accompanied by a much enhanced recovery-mass pull relationship and a significant improvement in the grade-recovery response. Significantly, the selectivity between the PGM and the deleterious chromite (expressed as Cr2O3) gangue more than doubled under these conditions. Modelling of the PGM data by means of the modified Kelsall model indicated that both the fast and slow floating rate constants were improved.INTRODUCTIONIt is well known that the flotation recovery of fine and ultrafine particles, typically less than 10 micron in size, is a challenge (Yoon et al., 1989; Miettenin et al., 2010). Although these particles are typically well liberated, due to their very low mass and inertia, the collision efficiency with air bubbles is low as a result of the inability of particles to penetrate the liquid streamlines around bubbles. Hence the probability of contact is often regarded as the ratedetermining step in flotation of ultrafine particles. Introducing more power into conventional flotation machines is likely to solve only part of the problem, as conventional mechanisms are effective only to a point in terms of shear and micro-turbulence. Further challenges are posed by the treatment of low-grade or oxidised tailings dump material, where valuables are passivated due to prolonged exposure to the atmosphere or slimes. Over the years, various mitigating strategies have been investigated, including the use of dissolved air flotation (Martinez-Gomez et al., 2013; Calgaroto et al., 2015), shear flocculation (Subrahmanyam and Forssberg, 1990), seed or carrier flotation (Tabosa and Rubio, 2010), sonication to clean particle surfaces (Aldrich and Feng, 1999; Newell et al., 2006), high intensity conditioning (Bulatovic and Salter, 1989; Chen et al., 1999; Tabosa and Rubio, 2010), and various electrochemical approaches such as changing Eh in order to promote formation of dixanthogen, dissolution of oxidation products by lowering the pH, activation by sulphidisation (Newell et al., 2006; Becker et al., 2014), and the use of alternative collectors."

The effect of the presence of fine particles of kaolinite and montmorillonite on the induction time for attachment of bubbles to particles of a copper concentrate rich in chalcopyrite was evaluated in this study. The results obtained from induction time measurements were correlated with data of concentrate recovery achieved from micro-flotation experiments. The effect of the presence of fine clays on the stability of air-water foams was also studied through measurements of the foam volume generated in a glass column under different conditions of air flowrate and MIBC concentrations. The experimental results showed that induction time values increased under the presence of fine clays. These data agreed with results obtained from micro-flotation experiments that showed that copper concentrate recovery decreased when clay particles were added. Although a complete explanation for these results is not available, the fact that experimental observations indicated that fine clay particles tend to adsorb on gas bubbles, suggests that the interactions between fine phyllosilicate particles and air bubbles have to be taken into account when studying the effect of clays on froth flotation. Foamability tests showed that the presence of fine clay particles increased the foam volumes only at high additions of clays and low dosages of MIBC. The results obtained at higher dosages of MIBC showed that the foam volumes decreased with the addition of clays under all the experimental conditions tested.

"Galvanochemical process (GChP)) cleaning of sewages is realized in the field of shortcirquited galvanic elements from the mixture current the materials place in purification’s solution and form multitude galvanopairs without external electric field in presence oxygen of the air. The galvanochemical process is electrochemical process utilizing galvanic pairs: coke - iron, iron - copper and others and process does not require chemical reagents.The effect of basic parameters of the cleaning effectiveness have been studied depending on oxidizing of galvanopairs. Adjusting nature, type of galvanic pairs and forming three component system possible to enlarge emf circuits to 2.378 V.The role of ?2, as basic agent, for generation of hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl ions.It was stated, that removing of metal ions from solutions occur mainly on account of sorption and hydrolytic sedimentation of iron oxihydrates.Determined separate stages of the process: coagulation, sorptions of admixtures on freshly formed ferric oxides and oxidizing destruction of organic components of effluents in presence of ?2 ? ?2?2. Shown efficiency of the method for removing of Cu, Cr, Ni, Zn, As ions, as well as fluoride, phosphate and cyanide anions and oil products, surface-active and flotation reagents. Cleaned water can be recycled for some processes non-critical toward residual concentration of admixtures, as total salt contents is lowered on 60-75 % and reaching limits of concentration for toxic components.The concept of high power unit creation was developed, and galvanochemical pulsator is presented. The pulsator is not expensive, and exploitation expences are low, as well as servise is simple with high effectiveness, and capacity. The galvanoflotation process is developing, combining galvanochemistry and flotation of hydrofobic admixtures (oil, surface-active agents).The galvanochemical flotators are presented."

This investigation is concerned with the optimization of ultrafine grinding of solids. It is focused on a dynamic classifier for recovering the fine fraction, for automatic recycling of the oversize particles and for reducing power consumption. Power consumption plays a major role in these energy intensive processes and depends on several parameters such as nature of the solid, degree of fineness of the finished product and, above all, grain size of the feed. This study indicates the optimal conditions for a dynamic classifier, that is, geometric characteristics of the apparatus and its capacity, inlet air flow rate and dimensions of the classification circuit. It is also shown that a mean grain diameter (dm) of about 2.00 µm with top size (dmax) of 50 µm can be achieved with an imperfection value of below 0.40 and energy consumption of 215 kWht-1. Sillimanite, chemically named Aluminum silicate, 3Al2O3SiO2 is one of the three forms of alumino silicate polymorphs and commonly encountered in aluminous metamorphic, plutonic, and volcanic rocks and their weathering products. Most of the sillimanite deposits are granular and are of high grade available in coastal areas as associated mineral along with Titanium bearing minerals namely ilmenite, rutile etc. Sillimanite is one of the widely accepted raw materials for the manufacture of high alumina refractories (55-60 % alumina) or bricks. Sillimanite based refractory bricks are used for the lining of Blast furnaces, Arc furnaces, Soaking pits, Reheating furnaces of iron and steel, rotary kilns for cement manufacturing and general kilns for lime production. Considering the vast potential of unexploited sillimanite reserves in India, M/s Trimex Sands Pvt. Ltd., (TSPL)has set up a Mineral Sand Processing plant in 2010 at Andhra Pradesh with a capacity to produce about 50,000 tons of sillimanite per annum besides the production of various heavy minerals such as ilmenite, rutile, zircon and garnet. Traditionally in India, sillimanite is upgraded by froth flotation technique using Oleic acid as a collector cum frother, sodium silicate as depressant and soda ash as pH regulator. At TSPL, Conventional mechanical float cells are installed to float sillimanite. In addition to the usual problems associated with conventional cells, poor flow ability of the sillimanite concentrate is experienced in dry circuit due to the presence of sodium oleate. Fine garnet in the sillimanite concentrate contributes to high iron content in the final product, making sillimanite separation a nightmare for operators (lower recoveries coupled with inferior grades). Various efforts were made to improve the performance of the circuit such as introduction of additional frother like MIBC, optimizing the operating parameters such as pulp density, collector dosage, depressant dosage, air flow rate, pH etc., use of collector aids, stage wise addition of reagents etc. The challenges faced to produce a sillimanite product with stringent quality norms and the efforts made to improve the grade and recovery are described in this paper. Coking of coal blends using high volatile coals with poor coking abilities to produce a high quality coke for blast furnace application can be achieved by compacting the coal blend prior to the carbonization process. Here densification up to a relative material density of 80 %, i.e. a compact density around 1100 kg/m3, has proven to be advantageous. Coal is compacted by stamping, if the so-called stamp charging process applied. Compacting of the coal by pressing is practised in case of the cokemaking with so-called heat-recovery ovens. Stamped and pressed coal cakes require over the cake volume uniform high density and mechanical stability. Besides the aspects of the coal selection, the efficiency of the process is mainly determined by the operating parameters compacting time and compacting energy for coal cake making. At the Department for Mechanical Process Engineering & Solids Processing of the Technical University Berlin the two sub-processes of densification and strengthening during stamping and during pressing are theoretically and experimentally investigated using specially developed lab-scale compacting test units and a strength test device. Describing cake density in terms of coal properties for a given coal and measured compacting energy input then leads to a compacting equation with the so-called Stampability as the integral model parameter for the stamping process. For the pressing process the cake density can be calculated with the measured compacting pressure and the Compressibility factor, respectively. Investigations were carried out to provide evidence of a significant influence of coal type, coal surface moisture, coal granulometric and mechanical properties on the densification process. The overall objective of the work is to establish a comprehensive mathematical model on the compacting behavior of large coal bulk quantities and the optimization of the compacting processes by stamping and by pressing.
