Sustainability principles in the minerals industry are now becoming more and more important from the perspective of securing a license to operate and enhancing environmental, economic and social performance. This trend is also setting new challenges for the design and operation of future concentrator plants. It is evident that ore grades are declining and ores are becoming more complex requiring new technology innovations and holistic approach for process optimization. There is a demand for more energy-efficient process technologies especially in comminution that is the major energy consuming unit operation in the process chain. Energy is not only a major source of cost but also contributes significantly to the carbon and environmental footprint. There is also an increasing awareness that more intelligent water management is required for reduction of fresh water consumption and mastering the impacts of process water recycling will cause for process performance. In association with water recycling, tailings disposal is an integral part of concentrator plant representing significant environmental and economic issues to the operation. This presentation will discuss general trends and challenges of future minerals processing plants and how innovative technology solutions and better integration of unit processes in conjunction with intelligent process control would contribute to meeting the sustainability challenges.

"In this work, authors will show the efficiency of computer technology and chemical programs at studying collectors for flotation of minerals of elements of platinum group (EPG). Clusters various minerals EPG (flotation reagents) are created, named us clusters minerals (reagents) as their structure corresponds to the chemical formula, and the distance between separate atoms corresponds to the known tabulated data. By molecular modeling are investigated clusters sperrylite PtAs2, stumpfilyte PtSb, sadberryte PdSb, sobolevskite PdBi, palladoarsenyte Pd2As, paolovyte Pd2Sn, rustenburgyte (Pt3Sn, Pt6Sn2) and their computer parameters (absolute rigidity, electronegativity, transfer factors of carry, charges of the atoms) are determined. Tellurides of palladium (IV, II) merenskyite PdTl2 and kotulskyte PdTe and platinum clusters are investigated: PtFe4, Pt3Fe, PtFe (Pt2Fe2), Pt2Fe (Cu) Ni. The technique of attachment of the collector (composites) to cluster atoms EPG is offered. For the first time, it is established that at linkage of flotation collectors on monodentate, bidentate and bridged to circuits with atoms clusters the minerals containing atoms As, Sb, Bi, Pb, Sn, reaction of connection with change of a degree of oxidation of these atoms and occurrence of a proton operates. It is executed virtual skirling organic compounds connections by the developed criteria from accessible libraries of a database. The principle of an estimation of interaction energy for flotation reagents with mineral clusters is offered. It is developed the prognosis of collector activity evaluation (P?AE) and his values for candidates in collectors for flotation of minerals EPG are calculated. For flotation of ores containing Pt and Pd minerals, a number of reagents, including compounds on basis P (III), for innovational technology of Pt, Pd mineral flotation are recommended. The application of new collectors is considered to improve the beneficiation of Polish sedimentary complex copper ores from the Legnica-Glogow Copper Basin (SW Poland), the upgradeability of which becomes more difficult because of ores grade declining. One group of potential collectors is represented by nonpolar reagents. According to the available literature data, only selected sulfides float in the presence of the nonpolar liquids. The paper presents laboratory scale flotation results for the main sulfide minerals occurring in the Polish copper ores applying either thiol (potassium ethyl xanthate) or nonpolar (aqueous emulsion of n-dodecane) collectors. The investigated feed contained 1.91 % Cu in the form of sulfide minerals such as bornite, chalcopyrite, chalcocite and covellite. Other sulfide minerals including galena, pyrite and sphalerite were also present in the samples. Several flotation tests with various doses of each collector were conducted. Mineralogical analyses of flotation products were carried out and the results compared. A comparison of the results indicated that all sulfide minerals floated well with high recoveries ranging from 91 % to 99 % in the presence of the thiol collector. The use of the nonpolar collector provided results in flotation of sulfide minerals with different terminal recoveries from 61 % for chalcopyrite to 100 % for sphalerite. The most significant differences in flotation in the presence of both types of collector under various conditions of upgrading were observed for chalcocite, chalcopyrite and covellite. Similar flotation results were observed for sphalerite and galena for both collectors. The studies confirmed selective flotation of sulfides from the copper sulfide ores of the Legnica-Glogow Copper Basin in the presence of nonpolar collectors.

In this manuscript, a new approach for modeling the rate of grinding process is explained. A review about grinding rate definitions so far is given and the possible ultimate way for grinding modeling is given as modeling the rate based on energy spectra. The traditional/phenomenological approaches for modeling size distribution of grinding mills give their place to a new generation modeling technique. Developments in the computational methods and necessity to model product size distribution of large mills, larger than ball mill size, paved the way for this novel technique. The traditional grinding rate models are mostly based on the back calculated breakage parameters from the experimental data. However, direct modeling of breakage parameters and hence the prediction of size distribution of the grinding mills may become possible with this approach. The material breakage data and discrete element method (DEM) energy spectra are the main components of this approach. Albeit the focus in this study is on modeling of breakage rate under impact mode of breakage, the abrasion mode of breakage was also tested by carrying out abrasion tests. Impact mode of breakage was analyzed using ultra-fast load cell device (UFLC) and drop weight tester. Dry tumbling test was carried out for abrasion experiments. Obtained material breakage versus energy data are combined with the collision energy spectra to obtain the breakage rate function. In addition, the material breakage versus energy information from the tests is converted into breakage distribution function. The model was verified in a lab scale mill (90 cm diameter-15 cm length). 10 to 15 kg of limestone was ground using 50 mm steel ball at varying conditions, i.e., rpm, volume loading. It is shown that the proposed model predicts all (1, 2, 4 min.) grinding intervals for all experiments highly accurate.

The lecture is about the growing role and the evolution of advanced process control (APC) in the mining and mineral processing industry, taking into account major trends in Information Technology. It reflects the standpoint of a team, which has already successfully developed APC technology for more than 20 years. Advanced process control systems tend to rely on combinations of artificial intelligence techniques or algorithms that complement each other and cooperate. Each technique or algorithm makes it possible to use certain type of knowledge about the process, so that the advanced control systems benefit at any time from the combined knowledge of process and control engineers and plant operators, from knowledge derived from past research work and process modeling, from a considerable amount of data provided by advanced instrumentation in real time, and from knowledge that can be extracted automatically and at any time from past data and images. The lecture will first review and compare the role, merits and limitations of algorithms that are used for online decision making in mineral processing plants: expert systems, fuzzy logic, neural networks, soft sensors, optimizers, and MPC controllers. The lecture will also review the role of online image analysis and sound analysis in process control. Recent developments in this area open new dimensions, in particular the ability for advanced process control algorithms to automatically explore the past, move back and forth in time in order to make better informed decisions, and the ability to cooperate with the operators for better performance. Applications will be presented. Recent progress in process simulation makes it possible to design, configure, check, and pre-tune APC systems before plant startup, opening new options for implementing APC. With the increase in world population, the requirement of natural resources is increasing every day. The nature is still stronger than man is but we must use natural resources more responsibly. The key to our well being is sustainable development Development effort for human well being may have adverse impact on the environment also. To keep the net impact positive is critical for sustainable development. For mineral processing industry, the value of a mineral is in the actual value as perceived by the end user. The process designs, investments in technology development all have direct relationship with the value of use and making a net positive impact on our ecosystem The value proposition has shifted towards raw materials and is a big differentiator. The availability of good quality raw material is difficult or is available at a premium. The challenge today is to develop green technologies that make effective and efficient usage of low grade raw materials The low grade raw materials as available pose a significant opportunity for human race for delivering value. They offer an easier reach to a value as perceived in end use but the journey is full of challenges. The first challenge is development of technology for maximizing grade recovery as required by the downstream process. The second challenge is to make the technology viable so that it contributes value to end use and the third challenge is to keep the net impact of the process positive The mining and mineral processing fraternity, being at the beginning of this value chain is set to take the first step in this journey for a tryst with ultimate human well being. "Flotation of metal-organic precipitate in column is sensible to the hydrodynamic conditions determined by the diameter and dispersion of rising bubbles. Thus, the dissipation energy in the system resulting of ratio between superficial fluid velocities (gas and feed) in the column is main parameter for precipitate flotation in pilot or industrial scales. The knowledge of aggregate structure can lead to better understanding and control of many solid-liquid separation processes (sedimentation, filtration, thickening and flotation). Many authors highlight the importance of structural properties (i.e. floc density) for different industrial applications.This approach was applied to achieve the flotation of molybdenum precipitate obtained with organic collector a- benzoin oxime for molar ratio 1:2. Flotation tests were carried out at lab and pilot scale with rigorous control of the size distribution of bubbles and the values of dissipation energy in the systems.Structural evolution of Mo precipitate and the destruction phenomenon were described by using of the various fractal dimensions, which were deduced from experimental data of laser sizer devices and optic microscopy pictures of precipitate. The boundary fractal dimensions Df of large aggregates allows the detection of a structural scaled organisation of the precipitate flocs (elementary germs-microflocs-flocs). The fractal dimension of the particle mass distribution Dm=1.94+/-0.15 suggests, for the floc structure, a cluster-cluster aggregation process either with structuration or breakage phases.The destruction process characterised by a fractal dimension Dg controls the final size distribution. The floc destruction occurs for the lowest values of the dissipation energy (0.02 – 0.05 W/kg). The relation between Dg and the system dissipation energy Et (for various energy E dissipated in the agitation cell) involves the different breakage mechanisms of aggregates in function of the aggregation bonds (Fig. 1).Besides, the destruction of floc produces very fine particles (elementary germs or/and microfloc according to E), and thus induces the difficulties of bubble-particle attachment during the precipitate flotation in column. Yet, very small bubbles, which increase the collision probability, would make the flotation feed rate decrease. The optima ratio between superficial gas and feed velocities are determined for bubble size and flotation results control at pilot scale. Thus, it is possible to providing the catastrophically changes of precipitate column flotation by using the following established experimental relation: the mean diameter d of the flocs under the action of dissipated energy Et follows a power like law (d~Et -0.5). This allows estimating the size distribution of flocs for the E values which can appear in column."

Three spiral concentrators having different geometries were compared in a chromite processing plant. They had different diameters, helix-cross sections and capacities. Two of the spiral concentrators were manufactured in China and one of them was manufactured in Australia. The tests were carried out in a closed circuit experimental setup by using a low grade chromite ore. The pulp densities kept the same during the operation, and the samples were taken simultaneously. The effects of the different positions of the splitters on separation and the feed rate were the parameters that were observed during the experiments. The performances of three spiral concentrators were found to be different. To clarify the effect of the particle size on the separation in spiral concentrators, the screening was applied to the feed. The samples were sieved from 75µm. The test results indicated that the separation performance decreased dramatically in very fine particles. Although fine particles caused some problems in spiral concentrators, fine grinding is required for this particular chromite ore for better liberation. A suitable method for the fine particles should be investigated for acceptable recovery.

Although the cyanidation process for gold leaching has been applied for more than a hundred years, some aspects of it, such as the passivation of the gold and the depassivating action of heavy metals, are still not well understood. In this work the anodic behaviour and surface composition of gold in alkaline aqueous cyanide with lead additions were investigated using polarization experiments and XPS. It was found that lead in the solution activated the gold at low concentrations, somewhat more positive than the reversible potential for gold, but that the activity again decreased at higher concentrations of lead. The potential range for the activation of the gold coincides with that where underpotential deposition of lead occurs, i.e. –200 to –600 mV(SCE), as indicated by the surface composition of the gold, shown in figure 1. Note that the concentration of lead on the surface of the gold only increased with time in the bulk plating potential range for lead, where gold is not activated by the presence of lead. It is also shown that up to 20 mg/L of lead added to the solution will activate the gold, provided that bulk plating of the lead is avoided. It is also important to avoid reducing conditions during leaching, where bulk plating of lead may occur, if the gold is to be activated by lead to achieve a high leaching rate, as the bulk plated lead screens the surface rather than activating it.

Design of thickeners is based on laboratory test work, characterizing the material and determining the optimal reagents, dosages and settling regimes. Several methods for dimensioning plant scale equipment exist. Kynch and Talmage-Fitch design procedures has been applied widely for a long time. Nowadays, besides them, a dynamic laboratory test work is applied for design of high rate thickeners. In that the laboratory unit is operated with known solids load per area, feed and flocculation conditions and with raking of the underflow. All these test methods afford useful data for setting up and calibrating a dynamic simulation model of a plant scale thickener. This paper presents a flocculation kinetics based dynamic thickener simulation model and a procedure to calibrate the model parameters. With the model, the underflow stream composition can be simulated over time as a function of the thickener operating parameters, which are: the feed rate and composition, underflow pumping rate, flocculant dosage and dilution of the feed. In addition, the model incorporates calculation of the slurry bed level, the cone pressure, the yield stress and the rake torque. Such a dynamic modeling scheme enables setting up simulation aided operator trainings and developing and testing of advanced control strategies, for example. The unit model can be integrated as a part of concentrator-wide flow sheet simulation model as well. Here, calibration of the kinetic flocculation model based on a laboratory test case data and further the operation of a simulated plant scale thickener are presented.

"A range of media alloys with different chromium content has been developed for different milling applications. When selecting the grinding media alloy for a specific application, consideration must be given to the mineralogy of the ore as well as the water chemistry and mill operating conditions. The paper describes the influence of the microstructure of the alloy on the wear resistance and the influence of the chrome content on the pulp chemistry and downstream processing. It also provides information about the in-house tools which Magotteaux have developed to predict the media wear rate with different chromium content alloys and predict their flotation efficiencies that can be expected when the right alloy is selected for a particular application."

"The recovery of oxide Cu minerals by flotation is a longstanding challenge in the minerals industry, especially for high acid-consuming ores which would not be economical for direct acid leaching. Sulfidization (often using controlled potential sulfidization or CPS) using NaSH (or Na2S) followed by flotation using traditional sulfide collectors is the widely used technique. CPS has certain limitations: a) inability to recover certain oxide Cu minerals because they are refractory to sulfidization, b) high consumption of NaSH (or Na2S), and c) potential health and safety hazards associated with NaSH (and Na2S). Flotation of oxide copper minerals using alkyl hydroxamate (AHX) collector has been studied extensively. Investigations using single minerals and laboratory ore flotation have been conducted in the past to demonstrate the efficacy of alkyl hydroxamates. The technology has been used intermittently in plants. One of the main challenges in plant use has been quantifying the true potential for alkyl hydroxamates for recovery of various oxide Cu species in complex and variable ore systems and identifying the most suitable conditions for optimal use. Quantitative mineralogical analysis using QEMSCAN was used in this study to characterize flotation products lab flotation samples. Analysis of concentrates and tails from hydroxamate flotation and CPS flotation stages demonstrated that certain oxide Cu minerals respond exclusively to alkyl hydroxamates and not to CPS. The hierarchy of interaction of AHX with the various oxide Cu minerals could be inferred from these studies. Finally, these studies also allowed quantification of a group of minerals species, which (erroneously) report as part of the Acid-Soluble Cu [ASCu] but cannot be recovered by flotation, thereby facilitating an estimation of the true recovery potential for alkyl hydroxamate.INTRODUCTIONCopper that is economically recoverable occurs in three major types of ores, which are defined by the modal mineralogy of Cu. For sulfide ores, Cu occurs as sulfide minerals and is satisfactorily recovered by flotation using sulfide collectors. Non-sulfide ores, which contain Cu in the form of oxides, phosphates, carbonates and silicates, described in the industry as “oxide” ores (or ores containing “acid-soluble” Cu or ASCu), are currently treated using hydrometallurgy, which involves leaching with dilute sulfuric acid followed by solvent extraction and electrowinning, unless the ores contain acid consuming gangue minerals such as dolomite. For mixed sulfide-oxide ores (i.e. containing both sulfide and oxide Cu minerals) that do not contain acid consuming gangue minerals, Cu values are easily recovered by flotation of sulfide Cu minerals followed by leaching of oxides (only when a leach plant is available). However, when the ore contains acid consuming gangue minerals flotation is required to recover both sulfide and oxide Cu minerals."

"The use of ball mills for fine grinding is an inefficient process and has contributed to the increasing popularity of vertical stirred grinding mills in the minerals industry. Over the last decade, the performance and energy efficiency of stirred milling technology has become a preferred alternative to ball mills for fine and regrinding operations. The difficulty encountered in fine grinding is the increased resistance to comminute small particles when compared to coarse particles. Therefore, increased energy inputs are then necessary to raise the number of stress events in a mill to contribute to the comminution of fine particles. This work discusses the effect of operating conditions on the amount of fines produced and torque readings in a screw type batch laboratory vertical stirred mill. A time-based population balance model (PBM) was used to empirically analyze the performance of a vertical mill and to calculate mill breakage parameters for the different operating conditions tested. The results indicate the possibility of applying population balance model to the vertical stirred mill to predict product size distribution with acceptable accuracy. The obtained breakage function shows that the main breakage mechanism in this vertical stirred mill is by attrition, and that the selection function changes with experimental conditions within the mill. Higher agitator velocities are also seen to promote an increase in the degree of attrition between grinding media hence particle selection and fines generation increase.INTRODUCTION Stirred milling technology has been firmly established in the last 20 years as superior to ball mills for fine and regrinding operations due to its superior energy efficiency (Jankovic, et al., 2006). Stirred mills are now commonly used in many sectors of the mining industry, though they have been used in other industries for many years (Stehr & Schwedes, 1983). This paper investigates the effect of energy input on the flotation of galena in a novel oscillating grid flotation cell (OGC). Oscillating grids generate near ideal hydrodynamic environments, characterised by turbulence which is relatively homogeneous and isotropic. Previous work was limited to quartz (-100 µm). Galena (-150 µm) was floated in the OGC at power intensities from 0.5 to 3 W/kg using 0.13, 0.58 and 0.82 mm mean bubble sizes (d10) and at three collector dosages. Results show that the effect of power intensity on flotation kinetics is strongly dependent on both particle and bubble size. For fine particles (-19 µm), increasing energy input increases the flotation rate at a low collector dosage but leads to an optimum at both the moderate and high collector dosages. For intermediate particles (+19-38 µm), increasing energy input has no effect on the flotation rate at the low collector dosage but leads to an optimum at both moderate and high collector dosages. For coarse particles (+38-150 µm), increasing energy input has no effect on the flotation rate at the low collector dosage and leads to a general decrease at both moderate and high collector dosages. Optimum conditions for fine particles are using small bubbles at a moderate collector dosage and an energy input of around 2 W/kg. Optimum conditions for moderate particles are using small bubbles at a high collector dosage and energy inputs of around 1.0 W/kg. Coarse particles do not benefit from agitation.

Currently, recycling technologies use relatively homogeneous plastics because hand-sorting waste feed is too expensive. Many promising technologies for separating mixed thermoplastics are being investigated, but they are still uneconomical and unreliable. Burning plastics for recycling is not used because of poisonous gases released when their burning. PET and PVC cannot be separated using conventional gravity separation techniques because their specific gravities overlap; PET density changes from 1.33 g/cc to 1.37 g/cc and PVC density is between 1.32 g/cc and 1.37 g/cc. For this reason, plastic recycling needs new techniques. Among these techniques froth flotation, also used in mineral processing, can be useful for its cost and simplicity. In this method, a plastic is selected from mixture, tried to regain its natural property, hydrophobicity. In this study the experiments were applied by using plasticizer reagents to make the selected plastics hydrophobic and us-ing NaOH to render the other hydrophilic. Post-consumed PET and PVC are evaluated by concerning the effects of selected parameters (particle size, concentration of plasticizer reagent, amount of NaOH, conditioning time and the effect of conditioning temperature). At the end of the experiments, optimum parameters for selective flotation of PET from PVC was found as particle size of -4.76 + 3.36 mm, NaOH amount of 30 kg/t, conditioning temperature of 75°C, conditioning time of 30 minutes, reagent amount of 300 mg/L. Consequently, PET was re-covered with 99.7% purity and 57% efficiency.

The North-West Russia for 70 years is one the main producers of Cu, Ni, Co, Al, P, REE, Zr, Ti, Ta, Nb, Fe ores and other minerals in the Europe. The largest mining companies locates in the Murmansk region, and they extracts about 100 mln. tons of ores and damps up to 250 mln. tons of waste annually. Nevertheless an environmental situation in the region is stable due to rational management and treatment of wastes on a base of the Noosphere Concept for Nature-using suggested by Vladimir Vernadsky. The Concept was performed practically in the Fersman’ scheme of “non-waste mining and metallurgical complex”, published in the monograph “Minerals of the Kola Peninsula: current status – analyses – prognoses” (1941) and served till now as a sort of “Bible” for industry managers lightening a strategy for an industrial “trophic chain”. The recent status of this scheme is shown on the picture below, and one can see that our concept is coincide with modern ideology known as the “Industrial Ecology”. Moving along this mainstream in the Kola Peninsula since 1929, when the first mining company “Apatit” was established, we provided the water close circuit in mineral dressing plants, hydrometallurgical treatment of slag and tailings, productions of building materials and adsorbents of wastes. The innovation set of technologies designed by the Kola Science Centre allow recently to involve tailing damps in re-exploitation as the technogenic deposits of valuable raw materials for fertilizers, tanning and cleaning agents, pigments, concretes and etc.

Results of the study of chloride ion concentration effect to osmium-187 sorption from wastewater of copper smelter with use of foreign anionites of different basicity and structure are presented in the work. It was found that the increase of chloride ion concentration in the wastewater helps to increase recovery of osmium using anionites regardless of their nature. The ways to intensify the process are proposed. The method for osmium elution from the anionites with potassium iodate solution was developed. It was shown that the method lets to recover up to 99% of osmium from the anionites. Recommendations for selection of eluents for better recovery of osmium from the anionites were elaborated. "Water is a necessary process medium in mineral processing. For the operations where fresh water is not available, sea water could be used as an alternative processing medium to replace the fresh water if we would have built a solid understanding of the interfacial science and flotation chemistry of sulfide minerals in sea water. In this research, micro flotation of chalcopyrite and pyrite in deionized water and sea water were investigated. For chalcopyrite, the recovery starts to drop from pH 10 in deionized water and from pH 9 in sea water, and the flotation recovery close to 100% before it drops. We can found from the results that chalcopyrite flotation is depressed much at pH 11 in sea water when much white precipitate is found. For pyrite, the flotaion recovery changs a lot in deionized water with 1*10-5 M potasium amyl xanthate (PAX) as collector. It’s relatively high at pH 8~10 compared with that at pH<8 and pH>10. While in sea water, the trend is almost the same as that of chalcopyrite. Zeta potential measurements and chemical equilibrium calculation were used to find out that magnesium hydroxide species coats on the surfaces at high pH in sea water are the main reason for depressing the chalcopyrite and pyrite flotation. Through understanding the interfacial science and the solution chemistry of sea water and its impact on processing efficiency, this research will not only helps reduce the use of fresh water to minimize the disposal of spent water for environment protection, but also enhance the recovery of valuable minerals in froth flotation."

"Recent advances in technology and the growing environmental concern have laid emphasis on the usage of fine clean coal. Coal fines are also generated in large amounts during various coal processing operations and are difficult to be treated, handled and disposed. Since most of the operations use water as the carrying medium, the fines so generated contain lot of moisture. Conventional technique for processing coal fines includes flocculation by a polymeric reagent followed by moisture removal using a rotary drum or a pressure plate filter, which produce a product with more than 30% moisture. Polymeric flocculants though required in small amounts, need high shear mixing for good performance and operate only in a narrow pH range. Moreover they increase the viscosity of the solution by many folds. Hence it becomes imperative to emulate newer methods for efficient fine coal processing. One such method is the novel use of microorganisms in coal processing.The present investigation deals with the utilization of two gram-positive microorganisms, Mycobacterium phlei and Bacillus subtilis, as bio flocculants and dewatering aids in fine coal processing. Preliminary characterization done on J-coal and M.phlei showed that they are negatively charged over most of the pH range. B.subtilis was found to possess positive charge below pH 4.7. The adhesion studies proved the high potential of microorganisms for adsorption to surfaces. Adhesion tests were conducted at various experimental conditions by varying parameters like pH and ionic strength of the suspension. Results obtained showed that adhesion is always higher in the presence of an electrolyte like KNO3 and most of the adhesion takes place in 15 minutes. With change in pH the amount of B.subtilis adhering on to J-coal remained almost constant and for M.phlei it decreased at higher pH values. Increase in ionic strength did not increase the adhesion of bacteria. Flocculation experiments confirmed the ability of the bacteria to act as bio flocculants. It was seen that about 98% of the coal settled in about 2 minutes on the addition of bacteria along with the addition of the electrolyte. The electrolyte was found to be indispensable for efficient flocculation of the coal suspension and for the attainment of a clear supernatant after flocculation. Also the optical micrographs revealed the formation of large, tight flocs when the electrolyte is present along with the bacteria. Further, flocculation tests were done in the pH range of 2-10 and the flocculation efficiency was found to be independent of pH."

"The paper presents research on hydrodynamic processes occurring at the elementary act of flotation. Discussed existing models to determine the effectiveness of conflict of bubbles with particles in vibration column flotation machine. The paper presents a disperser for a column flotation machine, in which the dispersion of the gas phase is carried out using vertical vibration with defined frequency and amplitude. The paper presents research of mechanism for the creation of air bubbles in vibratory column flotation machine. The factors influencing the increase in the duration of the bubble in the area of contact with the mineral particles are discussed. Research was carried out on the effect of frequency and amplitude of vibrations on speed of precipitation of mineral grains of different density. Formulas are derived for the parameter effect of vibrations, applicable to the design of flotation machine. The collision efficiency of the bubbles in vibratory column flotation machine is determined. The vibrations of the hydrated layer allow for cost-effective implementation of the elementary act of flotation by providing larger relative velocities at the contact point between the bubble and the solid phase. It is proposed to complement the model more accurate representation the mechanism of attachment of the particles to the bubble."
