On the territory Sakha (Yakutia) are located largest in Russian Federation reserves of antimony ores, Sarylakhsk and Sentochansk deposits, amaunt 10% of world stocks of antimony. A processing gold antimony ores Sarylakhsk deposit is carried out on gravitation-flotation circuit to receive gold gravitation concentrate and gold-antimony flotation concentrate with the contents of antimony over 60%. The gold-bearing concentrate is treated on place hydrometallurgicaly to a high-standard product, accepted by gold bank cash department. At the ore dressing plant reached the highest recovery in world in a concentrate of antimony 90%~91.6%, and gold 85.7%~86.0% as a result of scientific research works. Studied the mechanism of interaction cations of metals Pb2+, Cu2+, Cd2+, Hg2+, Ag+ with a surface antimonite presented on the basis of modern physical-chemical methods: nuclear quadrupol resonance, x-ray electron spectroscopy, electron spin resonance. The industrial tests of sodium dimethyldithiocarbate were carried out which confirmed high recovery of Sb and As. The leaching Sb2S3 by bacteria Desulfovibro desulfuricans and transformation antimonite in antimony trioxide by Tiobacillus Ferrooxidans improved following cyanidation . The extraction of antimony in a solution 96.0%~98.0% under optimal conditions. The common total extraction in the appropriate commodity products for gold reached 98%, for Sb 96.5%. At a combination of bioprocessing and cyanidation 85.5% of extraction Au was achieved. The new solvents for antimonite were found. Now by the Close Joint-Stock Co ?Sarylach-Antimony? industrial plant is constructed for processing Au-Sb concentrates to receive antimony trioxide and gold from various antimony deposits of Sakha (Yakutia).

"This paper examines the impact of several key variables on the performance of flotation cells. The study makes use of a simulator for the froth phase of the flotation vessel, as the main purpose of this study is to separate the impact of different variables from one another. In experiments it is very difficult to separate the effect of variables from one another as a change in a singe input parameter, such as air rate, invariably also affects many of the other key variables, such as bubble size and bubble bursting rates.In order to achieve this a base case simulation that is typical of many of the rougher cells found in sulphide flotation circuits was carried out. Four key variables, air rate, incoming bubble size, surface bubble size and the fraction of the bubbles flowing out of the cell unburst, were varied in order to obtain the system.s response.The most significant results were obtained when the bubble size was varied. An increase in the incoming bubble size has the effect of reducing the pulp zone recovery, but increases the froth zone recovery. If it were possible to vary the incoming bubble size without influencing the overflowing bubble size, the impact of the change would be unclear because of these two competing effects. The effect of a change in the overflowing bubble size has an opposite effect on the froth recovery, with larger bubbles resulting in lower froth recoveries.A final interesting result is that all the effects examined affect the process to a similar degree, which implies that none of these variables can be disregarded, either in industry or in further research."

Flotation researches of indium-beard marmatite from the Dulong multi-metallic ore in the Yunnan Province of China has been studied in order to improve the grades and recoveries of zinc and indium of the zinc concentrate in the Dulong concentration plant. The experimental results have shown that copper sulfate mixed with a chemical reagent X-1 as the activator in the marmatite flotation produced a much better beneficiation than copper sulfate alone, increasing the zinc and indium recoveries of 10% and 6%, respectively, while the concentrate grades were unchanged. Also, the new activator acted well around pH 10, allowing large savings on lime consumption in the marmatite flotation. In addition, it has been found that a sufficient activated time of activator with ore slur-ry in the flotation is needed to achieve good beneficiation of the marmatite ore.

Results of flotation process combined with atmospheric leaching and high pressure leaching for recovery of copper from low-grade silicate-copper ore have been presented in this study. The low-grade copper ore contains a small amount of copper (0.42 mass %), iron (4.6 mass %), and silicon (38.3 mass%) and among many other metals (Al, Ca, K, Mg, Na, Ti and S). The main mineralogical constituents of the copper ore are calcium aluminosilicate (Ca(Al2Si2O8), amesite (Mg2Al2SiO5(OH)4) and gypsum (CaSO4×H2O), and quartz (SiO2) as resulted from the alteration of an igneous rock. This study has shown that about 92 % of copper can be recovered with a maximum copper grade of 4.2 mass% in a froth after 15 minutes of flotation at pH 8.5 when used potassium amyl xanthate as a collector, MIBC and Dow-froth 250 as frothers and calcium hydroxide as a pH adjuster. The images of bubbles in the cell during flotation process were recorded using a high-speed camera. The froth concentrate with average copper grade of 2.0 mass% was further processed by atmospheric leaching with a solution of sulphuric acid and hydrochloric acid, respectively and high pressure leaching with sulphuric acid solution. As a result, leaching rate of copper reached about 60 % in an atmospheric leaching with sulphuric and hydrochloric acid respectively, whereas the rate can reach more than 70 % by autoclave leaching at high pressure under the controlled condition. A process to recover of copper from its low-grade ore can be developed by optimization of flotation combined with acid leaching.

In the present study we discuss the value of multi-element geochemistry as a tool for semi-quantitative to quantitative bulk mineral characterization in geological and geo-metallurgical modeling of porphyry copper type deposits, with an emphasis on hydrothermal alteration associations, types and intensities. In mine production of porphyry copper deposits much effort is placed on ore grade and geological modeling, applied for predictive mineral processing behavior, from blasting, grinding, leaching or flotation, down to waste disposal and environmental management. High confidence geological models are commonly based on geological mapping of drill core and surface/ underground exposures, combined with discrete mineral characterization (e.g., petrography, QEMSCAN®, spectroscopy, etc.). Unfortunately these are expensive and applied to limited numbers of samples, thus lacking sufficient representation and not suitable for geo-statistical modeling. In addition, geological mapping always presents uncertainty, based mostly on qualitative estimates. The combination of information usually provides geological models that are hard to combine with geo-metallurgical data, much less with mineral processing predictive behavior models. The advent of multi-element geochemistry, at low cost, has allowed employment of such tools massively, yet little use is given to the data, usually focused on elements of economic interest (main ore and credits) and elements of negative impact to concentrates and/or process. Geochemistry reflects the mineral composition of rocks, thus allowing characterization of lithology, alteration types and intensities, and mineralization. As examples of such applications we present generic classification techniques which were developed on various porphyry copper deposits of northern Chile, these based on multi-element geochemistry, allowing for semi-quantitative to quantitative high resolution modeling of key aspects of lithology, hydrothermal alteration and mineralization, and which may be cross-referenced to metallurgical test samples and by that, to geo-metallurgical properties of rocks and modeling. In addition, as data is quantitative and continuous, modelling of gangue can benefit from geo-statistical modeling.

Three high-grade limestone ores (CaO content over than 53 %) with different geological origin have been characterized for the synthesis of aragonite precipitated calcium carbonate. Limestone ores examined in this study showed different crystal particle size that cause difference in disintegration degree and surface area of the synthesized slaked limes. The limestone ore with smaller crystal particle size showed higher disintegration degree and also yielded slaked lime with smaller surface area, which is good for the synthesis of aragonite precipitated calcium carbonate. The synthesis of aragonite PCC using the limestone with a small crystal particle size was yielded needle-shaped aragonite with the aspect ratio of about 14. In this study, it was aimed to produce glass sand with less than 0.15% Fe2O3 for window glass manufacture and glass ware grade with less than 0.05% Fe2O3 from Yalõköy sand dunes having 0.48% Fe2O3. In order to reduce the iron content of the Yalõköy sand dune, magnetic separation, flotation, scrubbing, H2SO4 leaching and drying were used. The optimum iron removal was achieved by H2SO4 baking at 150oC and 8 kg/t acid consumption. In this way, sand concentrate was obtained with 0.04% Fe2O3 and sand recovery 95%.

Vanadium-titanium magnetite from Panzhihua was crushed with open and closed circuit process by high pressure grinding roller (HPGR). The particle size characteristics of the crushed product were analyzed and the micro-cracks generated by HPGR during the crushing process were studied. The results showed that, in crushed products, the reduction ratio increases and the size distribution becomes more uniform with increasing of the pressure on roller?s surfaces. The fine fraction content of crushing products from -3.2 mm classification closed-circuit by HPGR increases obviously compared with that by Jaw Crusher and particle size distribution is more uniform. Large amount of intra-crystalline cracks and cleavage cracks are generated in vanadium-titanium magnetite crushed by HPGR, which makes the specific surface area larger and Bond grinding work index (objective particle size is 0.074 mm) decreased by 14.05% than that by Jaw Crusher. And the liberation degree of monomer of the product crushed by HPGR increased compared with that by Jaw Crusher with the similar fineness of grinding. "It was developed in this work a computational tool to aid in anomaly detection present in the operation of ball mills. The tool uses a torque estimator that is based on measurements taken exclusively in the drive motor. The ball mill equipment widely used in the mining industry has, inherent to its principle of operation, high energy consumption and low efficiency. These characteristics are accentuated when the mill operates outside the ideal conditions of velocity and loading. Direct measurement of these variables is extremely difficult because it requires the installation of sensors in moving parts of the mill. Thus, systems that can help monitoring the operating conditions and predict anomalies are useful because they contribute to improving the performance of the process, help to reduce the energetic consumption, wear on the mill surface and frequency of maintenance shutdowns. The detection strategy implemented in this work is based on the fact that operational anomalies such as an inadequate percentage of balls and incorrect angular velocity manifest itself as a change in spectral components of the torque signal in the mill driven by an electric motor. The mill torque was estimated by processing motor variables measured by sensors commonly used for control purpose and installed exclusively in the motor. The mill was operated at various fault operating conditions and signals from electric motor and vibration on the mill shaft were measured. The spectral components present in the estimated torque signal were then compared with signals from a vibration sensor in order to establishing a correlation with anomalous operation condition of the mill. The experimental results showed that the signals obtained has an excellent correlation with other variables obtained by direct measurement and have potential to be used to construct a system for automatic fault detection in the operation of ball mills."

Comprehensive utilization of the copper associated with the complex lead and zinc sulphide ore is a recognized and difficult technical issue in ore dressing field. Qi Baoshan lead-zinc mine is a typical complex copper-lead-zinc polymetallic ore deposit and difficult to process. The application of the. traditional process is not able to make the substantive progress. According to its mineralogical characteristics, the association of copper minerals with lead minerals is very close, and their particle sizes are very fine, and the copper and lead minerals are partially oxidized. Based on the laboratory tests and comparison between different process flowsheets, preferential flotation of copper minerals, being suitable for this ore, was chosen to recover copper. The separation of copper from lead applies the following technology: regrinding middlings with cyclones to classify, which improves copper lead mineral liberation, and increases copper and lead recovery; using new high-efficient collector with good selectivity, which is able to float copper minerals; and non-toxic combined depressant which depresses lead minerals. The above technical innovation, optimizing the process flowsheet, overcoming the complex traditional process flow with high production cost, obtained good technical and economic indicator. The difficult technical problem of copper lead separation was solved smoothly. After successful performance of the bench-scale experiment, commercial-scale test was carried out. In industrial trial, a copper concentrate containing Cu18.60 %, Pb7.40 % and Zn2.50 % was obtained with copper recovery of 58.49%, lead concentrate quality improved largely. The process opened up an unique path for the comprehensive recovery of Cu from similar lead and zinc non-ferrous metals mineral to comprehensively recover copper.

Due to not to being our own sources, some energy sources such as oil and natural gas which are used frequently, are not reliable energy sources for our country. Coal is an important energy source that Turkey also has a certain reserve as many countries have. To be able to use for many years the reserves of this source that comes from fossils, there is a great need to make more investigation and development activities on it. On behalf of using more productively the current sources, briquetting facility is represented that commenced production in The Aegean Lignite Establishment in 2005 which is in Manisa, Soma. This facility is a part of General Directorate of Turkish Coal. This facility is run by Soma Coal Establishment that works in return for royalty in a licensed field that belongs to TKI. As the demand of market for 0.5 mm dust coal diminishes, we had to accumulate and stock unmerchantable dust coal. Besides, we have intermixed 0.5- 1 mm powder coal and 0.1 ? 0.5 mm fine powder coal obtained as a result of washing in coal washer with thermic coal with low price as we could not find a client in the market. In this study, the production stages of briquette coal with high quality produced as a result of pressing by mixing 0.5- 1 mm powder coal and 0.1 ? 0.5 mm fine powder coal with molasse and lime, quality control, and data?s obtained about calories and solidity of products were presented. By briquetting of 0.5- 1 mm powder coal and 0.1 ? 0.5 mm fine powder coal washed in coal washer, it became possible to sell these coals on a high unit price and by providing the demand of coal of the market, we contributed to productivity of our firm. "The article highlights results of theoretical and practical studies on the enlargement of fine gold in the process of heat treatment. The object of research is refractory gold silicate-carbonate ores of Vorontsovskoe Deposit (Northern Ural), containing fine gold. For setting up experiments and analyzing the results were used the methods of applied mathematics, mathematical statistics, mathematical and physical modeling. Modeling and calculations were performed using the software package HSC Chemistry 6.0, MatLab, setting up a full factorial experiment and other modern modeling methods. Using a scanning electron microscope, the distribution of fine-dispersed ore gold particles by size was studied. It was found that gold particles smaller than 0,4 µm smoothed the vertices and edges, i.e. they are of globules with an amorphous structure. Amorphous materials are nonequilibrium phases with high thermodynamic activity. The physicochemical properties such as melting temperature, diffusion coefficients, the content of metal impurities differ from the properties of the solid phases. In the course of the research were formulated the following scientific bases of the mechanism of enlargement of the gold particles: - the movement of dispersed droplets of gold in the process of external heat to the surface of the ore particles in the pore occurs under the action of thermocapillary pressure; - after melting of the host rock occurs flotation of molten droplets by the bubbles of gases and coagulation of fine gold; - the conditions of flotation drops of gold in oxide melts; floated drops of radius R = 1-100 µm. Analysis of the equilibrium at the perimeter of wetting a drop of gold-oxide melt-gas showed that the scheme of the tension will not significantly differ from the case of solid gold, while the radius of the gas bubbles should be at least 2 times greater than the radius of drops of gold. The proposed method of predicting the results of the enrichment of the proposed scheme, including heat treatment and gravitational centrifugal concentration of crushed ore. Experimental verification of the proposed scheme in the laboratory showed a satisfactory convergence of experiment and prediction. Gold recovery in the concentrate was 33,84 against 33,7 percent forecast. The increase in overall gold recovery to a gravity concentrate after heat treatment is more than 20 %."

"The aim of the study was to develop and implement more efficient dialkyldithiophosphate collectors. A hypothesis has been formulated on the action of dialkyldithiophosphates in the flotation of sulphide ores based on the assessment of their complexing properties and surface activity at the liquid-gas border. Dialkyldithiophosphates form weaker complexes with cations of heavy metals compared to xanthates, and are characterized by a large difference in the strength of their complexes with heavy metal cations. It provides higher selectivity of dialkyldithiophosphates in the separation of non-ferrous metal sulphides and iron sulphides from them. To make a quality assessment of the impact of surface activity of the synthesized collectors on their selectivity of action and collecting power, an assessment of the surface tension of their aqueous solutions has been performed using the stalagmometer method. It is well known that a stronger collector is characterized by a greater surface activity, in contrast to a more selective collector which is characterized by a lower surface activity. Based on studies, new dialkyldithiophosphate collectors BTF 163 and BTF 1552 are suggested for use in the flotation of sulphides to increase the recovery of copper, gold and silver. The collector BTF 163 was introduced at a gold processing plant in Kazakhstan and has been undergoing industrial testing in the sulphide cycle of scheelite-skarn-sulphide ores in a factory in the far east of Russia. The collector BTF 1552, which increases the recovery of silver and gold by 3%, was approved for industrial testing in another far-eastern factory. A modification of the reagent BTF 1552, the new reagent BTF 1522, was introduced in the flotation of copper-zinc ore at a factory in Kazakhstan."

An experimental investigation has been carried out using a laboratory scale Denver flotation cell. For evaluation of cokeable coal of Alborze Sharghi coal washing plant, the full factorial method was used to statistically design and analyse the experiments. The 2 factorial interaction model were developed for combustible recovery and ash content as response and diesel dosage, conditioning time, feed percent solids and rotor speed as factors. Model validation and residual analysis were con-ducted and results indicated that the fitness, predictability power and residual distributions of models were good. The effect of parameters and interactions were examined and it has been demonstrated that rotor speed, solid percent and interaction between diesel dosage and solid percent were more important terms of all responses. A product with approximately 78% combustible recovery and 10% ash content was obtained at 4000gr/ton diesel fuel oil (high level), 30 sec conditioning time (low level), feed percent solids of 15% (low level) and 800 rpm rotor speed in appropriate condition.

In Florida?s phosphate industrial practice, the most favorable upper size limit of froth flotation is 1.18 mm which corresponds to particle weight of about 2.8 mg. Conventional froth flotation is not efficient in upgrading coarse particles (+0.425-1.18 mm). A limited number of studies have been devoted to understanding and improving coarse particle flotation. We have shown that the coarse particle flotation performance can be significantly improved by the presence of picobubbles generated by hydrodynamic cavitation. In this study, the size of picobubbles produced under certain hydrodynamic conditions was measured by a laser particle size analyzer. A size-by-size flotation performance analysis of coarse phosphate froth flotation in the presence of picobubbles is conducted in terms of flotation kinetics, selectivity and recovery. It was found that picobubbles doubled the flota-tion rate, increased the P2O5 recovery more significantly for +0.85-1.18 mm particles than +0.425- 0.6 mm and +0.60-0.85 mm particles. At a given acid insolubles (A.I.) rejection, the presence of picobubbles increased the P2O5 recovery by up to about 25%.

In this study, the effect of different regrinding conditions on the depression of fine pyrite at the cleaner stage was investigated. The regrinding condition was manipulated by different grinding media (stainless steel and mild steel). It was found that, after regrinding with mild steel grinding media, the flotation recovery of pyrite is much lower than with stainless steel grinding media, and it is more difficult to restore by adding more collector. This means, regrinding with mild steel grinding media may depress the pyrite flotation more strongly. The copper activation of pyrite during regrinding was also studied. It was found, that the mild steel grinding media is more beneficial to copper activation than stainless steel media. Additionally, the analysis of pyrite recovery based on the particle size indicated, that the fine particles are more susceptible to different grinding environments than intermediate and coarse particles and therefore are more easily depressed with a much lower flotation recovery.

Media losses are a significant contributor to the operational cost in a dense media separation (DMS) circuit. Of these losses, up to 80 wt% can occur on the drain and rinse vibrating screens. Although these screens are an integral part of any DMS circuit, surprisingly little work can be found in open literature regarding the effect of aperture configuration on the drain rates (draining water and medium). To establish the effect of slot aperture size, experiments were conducted on a 0.6 x 1.2 m vibrating screen with polyurethane (PU) panels at slurry densities between 1.6 – 2.8 kg/L, and volumetric flow rates of 19 – 25 m3/h for both ferrosilicon and magnetite. Results showed that an increase in the volumetric flow rate led to an increase in drainage rate, moisture content and medium carryover. Once an optimum volumetric flow rate was exceeded, a further increase in flow rate resulted in a decrease in drainage rate with a sharp increase in moisture and medium bypass to the oversize stream. An increase in ferrosilicon slurry density led to a decrease in drainage rate with an increase in moisture and medium bypass with each of these rates increasing as the slurry density increased. For magnetite, a gradual decrease in drainage rate was observed with increase in slurry density and volumetric flowrate beyond the screen optimum point. It was found that an increase in aperture size from 0.63 x 8.8 mm to 0.8 x 8.8 mm to 1.0 x 13 mm resulted in an increase in ferrosilicon drainage rate of between 1.3 - 1.8 m3/m2/h depending on the flow rate and slurry density with a reduction in moisture and medium carryover of between 1.0 – 1.2 % and 14.1 – 20.2 kg/t/m respectively. For magnetite, the drainage rate increased between 1.0 - 1.4 m3/m2/h as the slot width increased from 0.63 x 8.8 mm to 0.8 x 8.8 mm while an increase in slot length from 0.63 x 8.8 to 0.63 x 12 mm only resulted in an increase in drainage rate of 0.1 - 0.5 m3/m2/h.

There was a large reserve of bauxite resources in China. And these resources were mainly the dias-pore-bauxite and contained plenty of aluminosilicate including kaolinite, illite and pyrophyllite. Reducing the contents of aluminosilicate would be significant to the using of Chinese bauxite resources. In this paper, from the single mineral flotation experiments, the surface properties and flotation beha-viours of aluminosilicate including kaolinite, illite and pyrophyllite, using dodecyl amine (DDA), N, N-dimethyl-dodecyl amine (DRN12) and N-dodecyl-1, 3-propane diamine (DN12) as collectors, had been investigated. The flotation results shown that the flotation behaviours of aluminosilicate had been influenced greatly by three amine collectors; and the effect was in the order of DN12>DRN12 >DDA. On the basis of FT-IR spectra and zeta potential measurements, the ionization of surface hydroxyl, as well as isomorphic exchange of surface ions, accounted for the mineral surface charges. And the mechanisms of interactions between the mineral surface and collectors mainly included two modes: electrostatic adsorption and hydrogen bonding; for the DDA and DRN>DDA. 12, the mechanism was mainly electrostatic adsorption; and for the DN12, the mechanisms of electrostatic adsorption and hydrogen bonding both existed. Results of quantum chemistry research shown that the collecting ability of amine collectors was greatly influenced by the electro-negativity of N in the amine molecules; and The |E(EHOMO| and ?E (HOMO-ELUMO) of N atom in DRN12 and DN12 were lower than that of DDA, and the positive charge of ?N group in DRN12 and DA12 were higher than that of DDA. All these calculation results could explain the collecting power of DN12>DRN12>DDA.

Joda East Iron Mine, one of the captive iron ore sources of Tata steel, located in the state of Odisha in eastern India caters to approximately 45% of the iron ore requirement of the Jamshedpur Steel Plant. The iron ore occurring in the mine having high in iron content along with high in alumina. Clay and gibbsite are the predominant mineral phases present as surface coating, fracture filling and/or free occurring and are responsible for alumina content higher. Alumina in iron ore impacts the techno-economic performance of a steel plant by impacting sintering and blast furnace productivity. The impact is even higher when it comes to fine ore used in the blast furnaces in the form of sinter as it constitutes a major portion of the blast furnace burden. Therefore, it is beneficial to upgrade iron ore in the mine head and to reduce alumina before it is subjected to agglomeration. Mineralogical test works reveal, that alumina in iron fines is mainly associated with the clay attached to the hematite particles, either free or interlocked to a very fine size. The paper describes the efforts made to reduce alumina in the iron fines in Joda East processing plant, without much of capital investment for a very sophisticated fines beneficiation circuit. In this process, a suitable dispersant was added in the plant that dispersed the masked slime coating over the iron ore fines, thereby making a better quality iron ore fines with reduced alumina content. The alumina in fines improved by 0.2 units? means from a label of 2.4-2.6 % reduced to 2.2-2.4 %. With this initiative, not only the primary objective of alumina reduction is met but also it has given substantial benefit in reduction of silica and as well as moisture in product. This moisture reduction also has given bottom line impact by reducing idle freight and royalty.

Liberation is one of the major purposes of comminution in mineral processing. In the simplest form, two or more minerals are present in a particle and have to be reduced such that the individual particles contain only one mineral. The complexity of the mineral intergrowth varies from ore to ore. Poor magnetic separation of iron ore may have many causes. In this paper, the emphasis is given to the problem of fine magnetite inclusions in quartz or other gangue minerals. This is highlighted by two Norwegian cases: one on a magnetite ore and the other on a hematite/magnetite ore. The inclusions in question are so small that they are not liberated by reasonable grinding. In both cases, the result has been either poor recovery or lower grade concentrates than desired. The first example concerns production of direct reduction concentrates from magnetite. Magnetic inclusions in gangue particles will be magnetized enough for the particles to pass into the concentrate. The second example is given a more detailed study, where the problem is caused by silicates with small inclusions of magnetite in a combined LIMS and WHIMS separation. This study included microscopy, Davies tube testing, and magnetization measurements. In particular, large gangue particles with magnetite inclusions were shown to have a tendency to bypass the LIMS separators as drag forces in presence of hematite are large. Such particles will then be picked up by the WHIMS as their magnetization is higher than for hematite. This was demonstrated by Davies tube tests, which indicated that such particles were picked up in preference to hematite particles. However, the Davies results did not give a good quantification. Magnetization measurements of gangue particles with magnetite inclusions was shown to be a better tool to quantify the magnitude of the effect of magnetite inclusions in magnetic separation.
