Improvements in the drilling and blasting techniques used in the stopes of narrow reefs have caused the clearing of broken rock to become the major cause of delay in the achievement of a regular cyclic operation. This paper discusses the development of a scoop in accordance with a predetermined set of performance parameters. The test results obtained to date have shown that the basic objectives have been achieved within tolerable limits of variation.

In late 1997 a request was received to assist with determining the powered support unit (shield) load capacities for the planned 2 seam short wall. This project had a number of aspects which made it attractive to utilize numerical modelling in conjunction with other more conventional design tools in the design of the shields. Amongst these were: The 2 seam panels were to be laid out about 25 m below the previously short walled 4 seam, the 4 seam had in turn been over-mined by the 5 seam long wall, the proposed face height of the 2 seam short wall was 5.5 m while the 4 seam had been mined at 4 m. The top seam in the area (5 seam) had been mined at between 1.5 and 2.2 m high, the face conditions with about 95 m of broken material applying dead weight loading to the 2 to 4 seam inter-burden septum were hard to predict and cyclical loading due to the presence of strong sandstone bands in the 2 to 4 seam inter-burden. The basic thrust of the study was to take the known, and successful, situation (4 seam short wall) and carry out comparative modelling to enable prediction of likely 2 seam conditions. Some two dimensional aspects studied were: 5 m goaf hanging up behind shields, stresses in beams to determine likely first goaf roof span, stresses in cantilever beams to asses cyclical loading due to sandstone bands in the interburden being loaded by the overlying goaf and stresses on chain and crush pillars adjacent to the goaf edge. Three dimensional aspects that were investigated included: Load distribution along face for close goafing and 5 m goaf hang-up and load in a 1 m wide rib modelled in the position of the powered support units. From the modelling it was possible to determine the optimal shield leg capacity of the new 2 seam equipment. These outputs were used when drawing up the technical specifications for manufacture of the new equipment. The face was successfully commissioned in August 2002. Fin 1997, requête fut faite pour aider à la détermination des capacités de charge pour l’unité de soutènement mécanisée (bouclier) pour la couche 2 courte taille en projet. Certains aspects de ce projet le rendaient intéressant pour utiliser la modélisation numérique en même temps que d’autres méthodes conventionnelles pour la conception des boucliers. Parmi ces aspects se trouvaient : Les panneaux de la couche 2 devaient être placés environ 25 m au dessous de la couche 4 courte taille ; la couche 4 avait été remplacée par la couche 5 longue taille ; la hauteur de taille proposée pour la couche 2 courte taille était 5.5 m, tandis que la couche 4 avait été exploitée à 4 m. La couche supérieure de la région (couche 5) avait été exploitée entre 1.5 et 2.2 m de hauteur ; il était difficile de prédire les conditions de taille, avec environ 95m de matériaux cassés ajoutant une charge morte à la plaque de séparation entre les couches 2 et 4 et un chargement cyclique causé par des bandes de grès dans l’entre-fardeau 2-4. L’idée principale de l’étude fut de prendre la situation connue et réussie (couche 4 courte taille) et de faire une modélisation comparative pour prédire les conditions probables de la couche 2. Certains des aspects à double dimension qui furent étudiés étaient : Un accrochage de remblai de 5m derrière les boucliers ; contraintes dans les poutres pour déterminer le premier intervalle probable entre remblai et toit ; contraintes dans les poutres en porte-à-faux pour évaluer le chargement cyclique causé par les bandes de grès dans l’entre-fardeau qui est accablé par le remblai et les contraintes sur les piliers par chaîne et d’écrasement adjacents au bord du remblai. Aspects à trois dimensions qui furent étudiés : Distribution de la charge le long de la taille pour les remblais proches et l’accrochage de remblai de 5 m et la charge dans une nervure de 1 m de large modelée dans la position des unités de soutènement mécanisées. La modélisation a permis de déterminer la capacité de portée optimale du bouclier du dispositif nouveau pour la couche 2. The failure of tailings storage facilities (TSFs) results in the discharge of significant quantities of hazardous waste material into the natural environment. Research studies relating to slope instability have identified physical mechanisms such as rainfall-induced erosion, liquefaction, and shear failure as the main triggers. The generation of transient pressure waves and the mobilization of pre-event water in the unsaturated zone have been found to trigger shallow landslides in natural hillslopes. In this paper we review these physical mechanisms, known as groundwater ridging (GWR) and the Lisse effect (LE), from other studies. Previous researchers have explained both these phenomena through field and laboratory observations, numerical modelling, as well as conceptual discussions. These case studies demonstrate the impact of rainfall characteristics on the generation of transient pressure waves that rapidly increase the phreatic surface and change pore water suction. Reference is also made to the influence and behaviour of physical porous medium characteristics on the establishment of a continuous water phase that facilitates the transmission of an induced pressure head. However, previous studies fail to recognize the possibility that the pressure increase in pre-event water through pore air propagation could cause slope instability in tailings dams. The authors suggest that the physical properties and hydraulic behaviour of unsaturated porous tailings media make it susceptible to GWR and the LE, resulting in the creation of a potential failure plane.

ABSTRACT: Given the current widespread use of numerical models for rock mechanics and rock engineering, and the ‘Technology Road Map’ theme of the Congress, it is timely to consider the key issues in matching numerical models to rock engineering problems. The three main aspects are: a) identifying the mechanisms, variables and parameters that are relevant to a particular rock engineering project; b) establishing the content and mode of operation of a particular code; and c) deciding whether a particular code provides an adequate model for a particular project. We summarise the key issues, highlighting the concept of rock mass domains, validation and the ability to present the results of a modelling exercise. We include three compact numerical modelling case examples to illustrate the points. Finally, we also present a ‘roadmap’ to assist in the process of matching a numerical model to the rock reality. RESUME: Considérant l’utilisation généralisée des modèles numériques en mécanique des roches et en ingénierie au rocher ainsi que le thème du congrès ‘technology road map’, il est opportun d’aborder les problèmes essentiels liés au choix des modèles numériques dans les problèmes ingénierie au rocher. Les trois aspects principaux sont : a) l’identification des mécanismes, variables et paramètres appropriés au projet considéré, b) la définition du contenu et du mode de fonctionnement d’un code numérique donné, et c) la possibilité de décider si un code donné fourni un modèle approprié au projet considéré. Les points clés sont résumés en mettant en évidence les notions de “massif rocheux”, de validation et de capacité à présenter les résultats d’une approche numérique. Nous présentons trois brèves études de cas qui illustrent ces points. Enfin, nous proposons aussi un logigramme pour aider au choix d’un modèle numérique approprié pour représenter la réalité d’un problème au rocher. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Im Licht der augenblicklich weitverbreiteten Nutzung von numerischen Modellen in der Felsmechanik and im Felsingenieurbau und unter Beruecksichtigung der Themenstellung des Congresses “Technology Road Map”, erscheint es an der Zeit die Kernprobleme, die sich mit Fragen der Abstimmung der numerischen Modele mit Hinblick auf ihre Anwendbarkeit im Felsingenieurbau beschaeftigen, naeher zu befassen. Die drei wesentlichen Aspekte sind: a) Identifizierung der Mechanismen, Variablen und Parameter, die fuer ein bestimmtes Projekt im Felsingenieurbau von Bedeutung sind; b) die Festlegung des Inhalts und des Modus Operandi eines bestimmten Codes, und c) die Entscheidung darueber ob ein bestimmter Code ein hinreichendes Model fuer ein bestimmtes Projekt ergibt. Wir fassen die wichtigsten Punkte zusammen, heben dabei das Concept der Gesteinsmassen Domaenen (Rock mass domains) hervor, und erarbeiten ihre Beurteilung und die Moeglichkeit diese zu praesentieren in den Ergebnissen einer Model Uebung. Wir schliessen drei Beispiele von numerischen Modellen ein in denen diese Punkte erlauetert werden. Zuletzt schlagen wir eine “Roadmap” vor, um dem Prozess der Abstimmung des numerischen Modells mit der “Felsmechanischen Wirklichkeit” zu unterstuetzen.

An extensive laboratory grinding study was carried out on a magnetite ore in order to assess the grinding behaviour of magnetic concentrate and tail from low intensity magnetic separation (LIMS).The test work involved Bond ball mill testing, rod milling, low intensity magnetic separation (LIMS), and batch ball milling down to product sizes of around P80~25 microns. A total of 18 Bond tests and over 150 batch grinding tests and sieve sizing were carried out. Throughout the grinding tests, power draw was continuously monitored. The relationship between the grinding energy and product size was analysed using the conventional energy-size concepts. It was found that the Rittinger equation fits the experimental data well. However, Bond?s equation does not fit the experimental data well, and therefore a modified Bond equation was developed. Differences in grinding properties between the magnetic and non-magnetic component were analysed and compared to the bulk ore. It was found that grinding properties differ significantly and therefore separate grinding test work may be required for each grinding step in the magnetite ore beneficiation flowsheet. It will look at the need to adapt and change the way, size and direction of the production blasts as the mining phase approaches the highwall position for which a pre-split has been created. The purpose of the project was to investigate the challenges faced by Khutala Colliery pertaining to underground road construction and maintenance. Furthermore the influence of these challenges on productivity and safety requirements were taken into consideration. The operating standards required for the construction and maintenance of the 2 seam road transport infrastructure was investigated, together with reasons why the standards of operating procedure are not met. The Code of Practice put in place by Khutala Colliery was used to view the standard operating procedures. Leading practices on underground road construction were researched. The project aims to discover the gaps that Khutala Colliery must bridge to implement enhanced practices with regards to underground road construction. During the period of study, observations were carried out to determine whether the road construction standards of operating procedure were being adhered to at all times for both road construction and road maintenance. Khutala Colliery has put in place a traffic management plan, which includes safety practices and work policies that must be adhered to while travelling on underground transport roads.

A prototype weightometer soft sensor is under development at DebTech, De Beers in partnership with Venetia Mine. Its main function consists of an online data source; data validation; dynamic weightometer models; online detection of weightometer failure; alarming and replacing a weightometer when it fails. 31 dynamic models have been developed. All models with R2>= 85%are accepted as good models and they generally have satisfactory results with a daily error of less than 8% within 90% confidence level. By using those models, a set of soft sensors can be set up to cover all weightometers in the entire processes starting from primary crushing to the stock piles of dense medium separation (DMS). Some practical issues and concerns on model development are discussed, including data collection, data analysis, data pre-processing, variable selection, time delay, model training and model validation. When deploying the weightometer soft sensor system, the potential benefits could include: reduction in plant downtime; reduction in unplanned maintenance and even replacement of non-critical weightometers, particularly where nuclear weightometers are used. RESUME : Le comportement mécanique partiellement saturé du minerai de fer a été étudié à partir d’essais de compression simple sur des éprouvettes à pression capillaire imposée par les solutions salines. Les échantillons restent peu saturés (32 %) même pour une humidité relative de 94 %, du fait de la présence de mésopores. Jusqu’à 90 % d’humidité relative la résistance diminue régulièrement. De 90 % à 94 % une forte chute est observée et pourrait être liée à la fois aux effets capillaires et à l’hydratation de certains minéraux. Le cycle hydrique subit par la roche dans la mine a été modélisé en 1D à l’aide d’un code de calcul entièrement couplé pour les milieux poreux partiellement saturés. Les calculs ont montré notamment une diminution importante en paroi des contraintes totales au cours de la phase de désaturation et une augmentation importante au cours de la phase de resaturation. Ces variations pourraient induire un endommagement du massif et être à l’origine d’instabilités, et soulignent l’intérêt d’une modélisation avec une géométrie plus adaptée. ABSTRACT : The partially saturated mechanical behavior of iron ore has been studied from uniaxial compression tests on samples in which the suction is imposed with aqueous solutions. Samples are little saturated (32 %) even for a 94 % relative humidity because pores are too large. Up to 90 % relative humidity the strength decreases regularly. From 90 % to 94 % a great decrease is observed ; it could be explained by the capillary effects and the moisturizing of some minerals. The hydrous cycle imposed to the rocks in the mine has been modeled with an 1D fully coupled code for partially saturated porous media. The computations have shown an important decrease in the total stresses at the wall during the desaturation stage and an important increase during the re-saturation stage. These variations could induce a rock mass damage and instabilities, and highlight the necessity of a modeling with a well-adapted geometry. Die Prüfkörper haben einen durch Salzlösungen gestimmten kapillarischen Druck. Sie bleiben kaum gesättigt (32 %), sogar bei einer relativen Feuchtigkeit von 94 %, aufgrund der Anwesenheit von Mesoporen. Bis eine relative Feuchtigkeit von 90 % verringert sich gleichmässig die Druckfestigkeit und zwischen 90 % und 94 % merkt man eine starke Abnahme in Verbindung, möglicherweise, mit kapillarischen Effekten und Hydratation von bestimmten Mineralen. Die nümerische 1D Modellisierung des gezwungenen Wasserzyklus im Stein der Mine ist mit einem für porösen Medien ganz vernetzten Rechnungcode geführt. Sie zeigt besonders ein bedeutendes Sinken der Gesamtspannung während der Entwässerung und eine bedeutende Steigerung während der Sättigung. Diese Veränderungen könnten die Beschädigung des Gesteines herbeiführen und die Grundlage von Unstabilität sein. The gas-solid dense-phase fluidised bed includes a complex multiphase fluid-particle system; different complex exchanges significantly affect the stability of the fluidised bed. To elucidate the characteristics of fluidisation in a gas-solid dense-phase fluidised bed, this study used experimental performance tests to obtain the static density characteristics, and the attachment and flow characteristic of the dense medium. The results indicate that the bulk density of the dense medium increases first and then decreases with the increase of particle size. The airflow rate difference is used to quantify the wall attachment characteristics of dense medium and the average pressure gradient in the axial direction of the bed is approximately 20 Pa/mm under the fluidisation results. At the same settlement location, with the decrease of fluidisation number, the settlement velocity of large and small particles becomes slower, the boundaries of settlement displacement and location probability are gradually disrupted, and the falling velocity of particles with a radius of 20 mm is faster than that of materials with a radius of 15 mm. This work also established a theoretical basis for regulating the stability and separation characteristics of gas-solid dense-phase fluidised bed. Metal dusting is a corrosion phenomenon that occurs in strongly carburizing gas atmospheres at elevated temperatures. Reaction kinetics and product characterizations of Alloys 602CA and 800 were examined by scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).The results showed that Alloy 602CA is more resistant to metal dusting than Alloy 800. Visual examination and SEM surface analysis showed that Alloy 800 suffered metal dusting attack after a relatively short exposure period. The amount of coke deposits increased on Alloy 800 with increased exposure from 96 to 336 hours. X-ray diffraction on the reacted surfaces identified graphite and austenite in both alloys and some iron oxides/spinel for Alloy 800.

X-Ray diffraction (XRD) provides useful information about the composition of an ore sample in terms of quantification of crystalline phases and amorphous content. The use of new, fast detection systems in XRD creates the opportunity to use this technique in modern process control. In the analysis of heavy mineral sands, XRD can identify the main mineral phases, such as ilmenite FeTiO3, rutile TiO2, Zircon ZrSiO4and quartz SiO2, and any other minor components present, such as anatase TiO2, magnetite Fe3O4, haematite Fe2O3or monazite (Ce, REE)PO4. Quantitative analysis is possible by various classical methods such as straight line or polynomial calibration with standards, but modern quantification analysis techniques such as Rietveld analysis (Bish and Howard, 1988) are attractive alternatives, as they do not require any standards or monitors. These methods offer impressive accuracy and speed of analysis. The Rietveld method compares calculated versus experimentally derived X-ray powder diffraction patterns for the sum of all crystalline phases. Another analysis technique offering great benefit to mining industries is cluster analysis. Enormous amounts of XRD measurement data are generated during the process control and material evaluation. New ways of handling such vast amounts of data are required to produce meaningful information for the end users. Cluster analysis greatly simplifies the analysis of a large amount of data from different processes or different raw materials, and automatically sorts closely related scans of an experiment into clusters and marks the most representative scan of each cluster as well as outlying patterns. The use of cluster analysis to evaluate the XRD data allows fast and reliable tracking of the process. It is the most economical procedure to have automatic data evaluation without involving any dedicated personnel in the process. Details of the techniques used, sample optimization methodologies, results, data precision and limitations will be discussed. The approach has potential as a relatively inexpensive, reliable tool, useful in the characterization of heavy minerals sand materials.

Discussion on the load bearing capacity of ground and the stability of tunnel is presented. We derive a simplified solution of a circular lined-tunnel in an elastic ground. The solution results in a better understanding of characteristic curves. Use of DEM allows us to consider effects of possible yield of the overstressed zone around the tunnel and inherent discontinuity of ground on the curves. Diskussion auf der Last Tragfähigkeit Bodens und die Stabilität des Tunnels wird dargestellt. Wir leiten eine vereinfachte Lösung eines kreisförmigen Ausbautunnels in einem elastischen Boden ab. Die Lösung ergibt ein besseres Verständnis der Kennlinien. Um Gebrauch DEM erlaubt uns, zu betrachten Effekte des möglichen Ergebnisses der überbetonten Zone den Tunnel und zugehörige Unstimmigkeit des Bodens auf den Kurven. La discussion sur la portance de charge de la terre et de la stabilité du tunnel est présentée. Nous dérivons une solution simplifiée d'un revêtement-tunnel circulaire dans une terre élastique. La solution a comme conséquence une meilleure compréhension des courbes caractéristiques. L'utilisation de DEM nous permet de considérer des effets du rendement possible de la zone surchargée autour du tunnel et de la discontinuité inhérente de la terre sur les courbes.

Refractory gold-containing concentrates usually contain gold enclosed in sulphides as well as in rock-forming minerals. Another difficulty is that gold often occurs as very fine inclusions of several micrometres, and even smaller than 1 micrometre, or can be part of the mineral composition at the structure level. Processing of such concentrates is a challenge. Ultrafine grinding and further oxidation are applied for gold liberation. The paper deals with the results from the study of gold deportment using Qemscan, and atmospheric oxidation testwork involving Albion Process™ on a gold-containing concentrate with a high content of refractory gold in sulphides and gangue minerals. Albion process testing was performed at Institute TOMS with the participation of Glencore Technology Pty Ltd (Australia). Additionally, conventional cyanidation testwork was carried out for the concentrate processing. As an alternative technology of gold liberation, oxidising roasting with arsenic stabilisation was used. The results from the study make it possible to assess the efficiency of the above-mentioned methods of gold liberation, and applicability of Albion technology to recover gold from the refractory concentrate. The study investigates the effect of prior corrosive exposure on crack growth resistance behaviour of thin sheet (3 mm thick) aluminium alloy 2024-T3 at slow strain rates. Compact tension specimens were exposed to standard corrosive environments that simulate accelerated atmospheric corrosion attack. Two corrosive environments were considered – an exfoliation corrosion (EXCO) solution and a 3.5 wt% sodium chloride solution. The unloading compliance R-curves of the two-hour EXCO-exposed specimens revealed a significant degradation of approximately 11% in the crack growth resistance behaviour (Kc_e values) compared to the baseline (air-exposed) values. Furthermore, secondary intergranular crack formation was also revealed in the plastic zone ahead of, and adjacent to, the crack tip of these specimens; which formed during the crack growth resistance loading. It is postulated that the observed degradation of the Kc_e values of the EXCO-exposed material is due to hydrogen embrittlement since the exposure times for the EXCO evaluation were limited to ensure that uniform corrosion dominated; that is, significant penetration of corrosion damage and pitting due to localized corrosive attack did not occur. The sodium chloride-exposed specimens revealed a similar degradation (13%) after 24 hours exposure. However, slight intergranular corrosive attack and isolated pitting were observed on the exposed surfaces prior to crack growth resistance loading, resulting in notch effects that could assist in crack growth. Pitting and intergranular corrosion were, however, not observed at the pre-crack tip. The relative contributions of the notch effects and the hydrogen embrittlement during the degradation of the KR performance are, therefore, unclear.

For practical reasons all basic input data for the gold mines of the Anglovaal Group conform to a regular grid of averages of sample values within 25-ft squares in the plane of the ore body; individual sample values with their metric co-ordinates are input and converted by a computer program to the basic 25-ft square averages. At the Prieska copper mine the bore- hole data are forced on to a regular grid of 15-m squares corresponding to the coordinates of the grid points nearest to the actual borehole intersections. As for the gold mines the Prieska ore body, although some 3 to 30 m thick, is also dealt with on a two-dimensional basis (Krige, 1973). On the gold mines the data subjected to geostatistical analysis cover: gold values (in cm g/t), uranium values (cm kg/t), and channel widths (cm). The gold and uranium values are normalised on the basis of log (value plus constant) and all the geostatistical analyses are performed on these transformed values. The channel widths usually conform reasonably well to the normal distribution and are, therefore, not transformed. At Prieska the metal grades analysed cover the two main products, copper and zinc, as well as the impurities lead and bismuth; in addition the specific gravity values and the hanging- and foot-wall deviations from a projection plane are also handled. These were all previously used on an untransformed basis but because of problems associated with the proportional effect the lognormal-de Wijsian model is now used for some of the grade variables. Ausmelt is supplying commercial quantities of an alkyl hydroxamate flotation collector AM28 for flotation of oxide and supergene base metal ores and tailings. AM28 is a non-hazardous product used as a ten per cent to 50 per cent solution in dilute potassium hydroxide. It is a selective flotation collector for oxide or oxidised base metal minerals and replaces conventional sulfidisation for oxide mineral flotation. At Radio Hill, the AM28 is used in conjunction with traditional sulfide collectors, which allows simultaneous flotation of oxide and sulfide copper minerals. The Fox Resources Radio Hill copper concentrator near Karratha, Western Australia, is currently configured to treat supergene copper ore sourced from the West Whundo open pit. This Archean VMS type copper deposit has been deformed and remobilised with uplift, erosion and weathering to form a significant supergene zone. The sulfide copper minerals present in the upper zone are digenite and chalcocite with lesser chalcopyrite and covellite. Oxide copper minerals present include cuprite, with lesser malachite and azurite. Gangue minerals include quartz, talc and chlorite. Plant trials at Radio Hill are reported for supergene West Whundo ore, where the AM28 was stage added into the circuit at nominally 80 g/t. Plant data over three months shows the copper recovery increased consistently from around 50 - 60 per cent to above 70 per cent when AM28 was added. This has been proven statistically. The grade of the concentrate was consistent with and without AM28, at nominally 22 - 24 per cent copper.

The 13th Congress of the Council of Mining and Metallurgical Institutions (CMMI) was held in Singapore from 11th to 16th May, 1986. Tours to Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, and Japan took place the week before and the week after the Congress. Registrations By far the largest contingents at the Congress were from Australia (157 delegates and 65 affiliates) and South Africa (127 delegates and 99 affiliates). The other 25 countries represented at the Congress accounted for 118 delegates and 37 affiliates. Thus the total registrations amounted to 402 delegates and 201 affiliates.

The paper describes a computer procedure for evaluating and selecting recoverable reserves in a mine worked by sublevel stoping. The boundaries of the volume to be mined are optimally defined by means of the 3-dimensional Lerchs-Grossmann algorithm, separately applied to both sides of the panels. The procedure, which has been developed for Masua Mine (Sardinia), also provides for smoothing the optimized boundaries, positioning the drilling drifts, interactive design of drilling fans and calculation of tonnage and grade of each volley. These tonnages and grades form the input of another procedure evolved for production planning.

In this work we have reviewed methods to classify corrosivity of ground waters. Weight loss and stress corrosion cracking (SCC) corrosion tests have been done for rebar and steel strand. No clear indication of SCC was found. The application of tensile stress to 85 % of yield strength increased general corrosion rate significantly in very corrosive waters. The effect of corrosion protection on the axial behavior of steel strands was determined by double pipe axial tests with different embedment lengths. The results showed a significant difference on behavior between epoxy-coated steel strands, galvanized steel strands and plain steel strand. Dans la présente étude, nous avons passé en revue des méthodes permettant de classifier la corrosivité des eaux souterraines. Des tests portant sur les pertes de poids et sur la corrosion FCC (la fissuration par corrosion sous contrainte) ont été effectués pour les barres d’armature et les torons. Aucune indication nette de FCC n’a été constatée. L’application d’une contrainte de traction allant jusqu’à 85 % de la limite d’élasticité a accru de manière significative la vitesse générale de corrosion dans les eaux très corrosives. L’effet de la protection contre la corrosion sur le comportement axial des torons en acier a été déterminé au moyen de tests axiaux à double tube avec des longueurs d’enrobage différentes. Les résultats ont mis en évidence une différence significative quant au comportement entre les torons en acier à revêtement époxy, les torons en acier galvanisés et les torons en acier standard. In dieser Arbeit haben wir Methoden geprüft, die korrosive Wirkung des Grundwassers einstufen. Gewichtsverlust- und SCC-Korrosionstests wurden für Stahlstäbe und Drahtlitzen durchgeführt. Es wurden keine sicheren Hinweise auf Spannungsrisskorrosionsbrüche gefunden. Bei Anwendung einer Dehnbelastung von 85 % der Streckspannung bzw.Ergebnisstärke stieg die allgemeine Korrosionsrate in stark korrosivem Wasser deutlich an. Die Wirkung des Korrosionschutzes bei axialem Verhalten von Stahldrahtlitzen wurde durch axiale Tests an Doppelleitungen unterschiedlicher Versenkungslänge determiniert. Die Ergebnisse zeigten im direkten Vergleich von epoxidbeschichteten, galvanisierten und normalen Stahldrahtlitzen beachtliche Unterschiede im Verhalten auf.
