"The article presents the results of the research aimed at development and testing of new effective reagents – collectors and green modifiers for more complete extraction of gold and platinum to concentrates at reduced loss with waste products. The main deposits of Au and PGM ores of Russia and abroad are presented by refractory raw material with the non-uniform finely-interspersed sulfide mineralization, submicron gold and platinum, the low metal content, non-uniform distribution of valuable minerals. and show low indicators of recovery. The main losses of precious metals (up to 15 %) at flotation are associated with thin slam tailings because of inefficiency of standard reagent modes.In the paper, the new trends in design of collecting agents for extraction of gold and PGM sulfide minerals and their application in flotation tests are substantiated. The original technique for obtaining the modified collector reagents – dithiocarbamate, dithiophoshpinate and dithiazine, incorporated non-ionic compounds that are able to generate stable complexes with gold and platinum has been developed. A novel class of collectors – cloud point polymers showed high flotation recovery of fine particles of gold and platinum. The original technique to create the mineral samples of natural sulfides with ""invisible"" or sub-micron gold on their surface designed helped to indicate the mechanism of selective adsorption of novel agents on Au and Pt-sulfide minerals. Extractive UV spectrophotometry, potential measurements, X-ray phase and spectral analysis, scanning electronic microscopy (SEAM), laser SIM and AFM microscopy were applied to analyze the adsorbed layer of modified reagents on the mineral surface. Selective hydrophobic covering on the surface of micro- and nanoparticles of noble metals provided an increase in their extraction during flotation. New reagent modes of modified collectors and green modifiers were tested in scaled-up laboratory flotation and the results obtained demonstrated the increased quality of the concentrates in terms of gold content by 1.5 times and higher gold recovery by 1.5-5%. A Conjugate Anvil-Hammer Mill (CAHM) has the potential to replace conventional crushers and SAG mills, with their respective conveyors and stockpiles, in a SABC circuit. It may improve comminution circuit efficiency by 100%. CAHM compresses rock in a more efficient way, similar to 19th century stamp mills, which follows the fundamental research of Schönert (1990 & 1996). CAHM efficiency is being proven through the use of ROCKY (2011) Discrete Element Method (DEM). ROCKY features allow it to simulate realistic comminution. CAHM is customizable with many geometries that are rock-property specific. ROCKY?s wear modeling compliments the structural integrity of the design.

"According to Darcy’s equation, the rate of dewatering varies as inverse square of the surface area of the particles to be dewatered and is proportional to the pressure drop across a filter cake. Thus, the difficulty in dewatering fine mineral concentrates can be overcome by using high-pressure filters. When treating ultrafine particles, however, it is often necessary to further dewater the filter cake using a thermal dryer. In the present work, novel dewatering aids that can reduce the pressure requirement have been developed. The reagents are designed to reduce surface tension, increase particle hydrophobicity and increase capillary radius, all at the same time. They were tested for dewatering mineral and coal concentrates in both laboratory and pilot-scale tests. The results show that the use of the novel dewatering aids can substantially reduce cake moistures and, at the same time, increase throughput. In this communication, the case history of using the reagents commercially at the Garpenberg concentrator is given. The use of the novel dewatering aids allowed the operators to use a vacuum filter to obtain desired cake moistures and obviate the need to use a thermal dryer.INTRODUCTIONDewatering is an integral part of mineral and coal processing operations, as it is necessary to remove water from concentrates (or clean coal) to minimize shipping costs, meet contract specifications, and recycle the process water. "The result of extensive research into fundamental mixed metal oxide catalyst morphology has produced a next generation all titanium Dimensionally Stable Anode (DSA ®). This new DSA ® anode, patent pending, is tailored for electrowinning of non-ferrous metals (copper, nickel, cobalt, zinc) by means of this new coating technology.These DSA ® anodes are characterized by a hanger bar with vertical distributor bars, having primary titanium mesh attached by weldments. The active mesh is provided with noble-metal electrocatalytic coatings, consisting of iridium and/or ruthenium oxides, obtained by thermal decomposition of precursor solutions applied to the titanium substrates. The catalytic activity of state-of-the-art DSA ® anodes is increased by controlling the crystallite size of the noble-metals without decreasing the decomposition temperature. It is known that below a certain value (typically 400°C) the stability of these oxides, and associated lifetime, is seriously compromised. A highly active DSA ® anode, consisting of a quasi-amorphous phase, is obtained at high temperature (above 450°C), therefore not compromising lifetime performance. Through optimization of these design parameters, the manufacture of these novel anodes was identified.DSA ® anode performance advantages include: lead-free ' green' all titanium anodes, true leadfree cathode quality, energy savings of 0.3 to 0.55 V can be realized depending on the EW application when compared to industry standard lead-alloy anodes, eliminate need for cobalt sulphate addition required for lead anodes, sustainability designed into long-life recoatable anode structures, increase plant cathode output through increased current density operations, improve plant on-stream production, no sludge generated or removed, and improve current distribution producing smooth high efficiency cathode.Introduction of ProductThere are many factors to consider when engineering a high performance DSA ® electrowinning anode. Half of the anode's performance is derived from the physical attributes of the electrocatalyst and methods employed when applying this catalyst to the titanium anode structure. The other half of the performance benefits relate to the proper structural design of the anode. In this paper, we will highlight the anode development program in which De Nora has invested to provide the Electrowinning marketplace with a high performance anode product."

This paper presents a novel holistic healthy human framework for C-suite executives and senior leaders in the minerals industry. The value-add of the framework centres around the integration of inner holistic health and interpersonal holistic health to support and enhance environment, social, and governance transformation, with a focus on the social enterprise. The framework unpacks key components of holistic health and their interlinkages to environment, social, governance, and stakeholder engagement. Insights were gleaned from interviews with 10 C-suite executives, each with over twenty years of experience in mining or business leadership. By applying the holistic healthy human framework, industry leaders can strengthen the social licence to operate and positively transform the industry's public image. Broader application to other sectors is underway.

Traditional laboratory lubrication tests, including those for cold rolling lubricants often involve measurement of neat oils. To achieve increased levels of test severity, such tests are often carried out at high temperatures and prolonged durations. However, we found that the levels of lubricant degradation and wear in these tests can be much higher than in the field. Moreover, steel rolling is not done with neat oils, but with emulsions, where the presence of water influences film formation, surface chemistry and oil composition in the roll bite. To better approach the situation in the field, and thus to be able to develop rolling oils with improved lubrication performance, several lubrication tests were developed for emulsions: direct measurement of film formation and measurement of Stribeck curves, in which the emulsions can be assessed in terms of their boundary lubrication and elastohydrodynamic behaviour. The key innovation is that also another test method was developed, which focuses on boundary lubrication and wear, and the role of extreme pressure and anti-wear additives. Realistic levels of test severity are achieved in the tribometer by mimicking frictional power intensities and flash temperatures for typical cold rolling or tinplate mills. Test conditions can be adapted according to the mill stand or pass number and other cold rolling process parameters. The emulsions are kept at normal operational temperature. Clear differences could be observed between emulsions of various concentration and composition. The viability of the method is illustrated by a number of field cases, in which a good correlation is demonstrated between the laboratory tests and the performance in a pilot or production mill.

"The corrosion of stainless steel SS316L in a low melting point novel LiNO3-NaNO3-KNO3- NaNO2 eutectic molten salt mixture was investigated at 695K. After long-term isothermal dipping corrosion experiments, the SS316L samples were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) to determine the topography and corrosion products. Dense and protective lithium iron oxide scale formed on the surface and prevented the SS316L sample from further severe corrosion. Therefore, SS316L is considered to be suitable construction material for solar thermal energy storage materials containers.IntroductionMolten salt mixtures have been considered as potential candidates for thermal energy storage and heat transfer media in solar energy applications. To apply the molten salt in the energy transfer process, the standard pipes made of stainless steel must be utilized to carry the molten salt mixtures in parabolic trough system of solar power production. The pipes encounter continuous flow of hot and cold molten salt every day. Thus corrosion of stainless steel in molten salt mixtures becomes extremely essential for the long-term utilization of the thermal energy storage media. The corrosion of passivity materials inside high temperature molten salt systems have been studied which gives fundamental understanding of basic mechanism about the corrosion process [1-8].The corrosion behavior of Fe-Ni-Cr alloys in an equi-molar LiNO3–NaNO3–KNO3 mixture was studied [9]. According to the XRD analyses, the major phases in the oxide scales were identified as LiFeO2, Fe3O4 and Cr2O3. A HITEC® salt mixture (NaNO3–NaNO2–KNO3) was also tested as a corrosion medium for stainless steel [10] and the corrosion rate was found to be affected by the protective oxide layer. In most cases, the alloys having more than 10wt% chromium show high resistance to corrosion in molten salts."

"Based on PMA polymer, two kinds of novel macromolecular depressants, PMTA and PMA-PDTC, were designed and synthesized. PMTA was used for desilication in hematite reverse flotation. PMA-PDTC was used in the separation of Cu-Pb concentrate as galena depressant. The micro-flotation results showed that PMTA exhibited a good depression performance compared to starch. We found that 98.29% of hematite was depressed with a grade of 65.24% at pH 11 with 12 mg/L dosage. The flotation separation results of Cu-Pb concentrate demonstrated that PMA-PDTC was an effective depressant for galena in separating galena from chalcopyrite. When IPETC was used as collector, at pH 8.5, the flotation separation tests demonstrated that Cu concentrate was obtained with a grade of 28.89% containing 12.12% Pb.INTRODUCTIONThe role of depressants is crucial in the separation of oxide or sulfide minerals, for example, the desilication in hematite concentrate and the separation of Cu-Pb concentrate.It is well known that, in current reverse flotation processing of hematite, starch is a traditional depressant for hematite. Most research focus on the modification of starch [1-3]. Although its depressing ability is enhanced in some extent, its own shortcomings is still existed. So, it is important to develop a new hematite depressant instead of starch.In the separation of chalcopyrite and galena, because of their extremely similar floatability, it is difficult to realize the separation of these two minerals. Traditionally, there are two methods widely used in the separation of Cu-Pb concentrate by depressing chalcopyrite with cyanide [4] or depressing galena with dichromate [5] in most cases. However, these two inorganic depressants are toxic and hazardous. Their use could cause heavy pollution problems and a large loss of precious metals. In order to adapt to the requirements of sustainable economic development and environmental protection, the research and development of green and environmental depressant has gained more and more significance."

Three newly developed alumino-silicate refractory bricks for use in safety lining of aluminum electrolysis cells were compared to one commonly used bricks for the same application. It was shown that the increase in silica content and decrease in permeability led to a sensitive decrease in cryolite attack. Both parameters are of utmost importance in selecting bricks for these cells. The reasons for this observation were the formation of a more viscous liquid after the reaction between molten cryolite and the brick, and the reduction of the rate of penetration. Moreover, a novel mortar with high silica content was tested and has shown improved resistance to molten cryolite. The use of oxidizing atmosphere led to increased attack rate in the brick when compared to reducing condition. The opposite effect was observed in the mortars.

Metallographic techniques developed from studies of corrosion films and electroplated coatings on aluminum alloys, are discussed. These methods, the result of work at the Naval Research Establishment, give extremely flat fields at the interface despite the large difference in hardness, in cases where electrolytic polishing could not be used. Techniques to overcome the similarity in refractive index of immersion oil, aluminum ox1d~, and mounting plastic are also considered, as are methods for improving visual and photographic contrast in areas of interest. A device for marking specimens is also de-scribed. ELE•CTROLYTIC polishing is inapplicable in the study of surface films on aluminum, whether corrosion films or electrodeposits. Mechanical procedures must there-fore be followed. Sample flatness and edge retention are of paramount importance. Special measures are required in the study of oxide films, because of the close proximity of the refractive indices of aluminum oxide, mounting plastic, and immersion oil.

Refractory sulfide flotation or gravity gold concentrates are coated onto a sized support matrix and placed in a heap configuration for biooxidation. The surface coating is typically less than 0.05 in. thick and the support matrix is preferably composed of 0.375 to 0.75 in. diameter material. The exposed thin coating of sulfides reduces biooxidation rate limitations due to oxygen mass transfer. The large spaces between matrix particles reduce resistance to fluid percolation and aeration in the heap. The capital and operating costs for this biooxidation configuration are significantly less than for concentrate biooxidation in stirred tanks. After 30 to 90 days of biooxidation, sub- sequent gold recoveries exceed those seen in whole ore heap biooxidation and are comparable to recoveries obtained from stirred tank biooxidation processes. Results from laboratory and pilot testing indicate that this technology is a viable alternative for pretreating sulfide refractory gold ores.

Similarly to notions of constant capital/expenses in business or magnetization power for electric motors an energetic base load (E0) is always necessary to set up a mining process. Denominated as ?non-productive energy? or base load, (E0) is a constant component of the entire energy consumption of the process, while another component the ?productive energy? (Ep) is variable, being function of the production/throughput (M). By using these new concepts, the author creates an energetic model proposing a new method of assessing changes in mining processes (throughput) that can reveal possible energy savings (DSM component) or energy losses. Proposed mathematical model of assessing (E0) and energy savings by using ?Marginal Energy Usage Index? (MEUI) enables creation of historical benchmarks and direct on line energetic (efficiency) assessment of mining processes and/or equipments. The paper analyses the case of assessing possible energy savings that can be obtained by: ?? Improving efficiencies of various equipments (by retrofit) ? reducing E0 ?? Improving the process control or other process changes ? reducing Ep ?? Monitoring persistence of the adopted Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs). For the new plant design, the proposed method enables prediction of Customer Baseline in various mine/process configurations. The method could become part of a ?preventive action? in design process by offering a reliable tool of assessing additional financial effort (Incremental cost) when choosing various higher efficiency equipments and/or processes.

"Measuring mud bed level in a sedimentation device is an important control variable. Methods used to date for this purpose have had limited success providing continuous, consistent measurements at a reasonable price. This paper describes a new instrument for detecting the mud bed / liquor interface as well as bed density profiles. The state of the bed is measured directly with sensors located in the thickener. Data from bench-scale and full-scale tests show that the bed level is well defined and easily detected. In addition, full-scale testing revealed unprecedented information about thickener beds. Variation in bed density gave new insight into thickener bed dynamics, providing design and control opportunities never before possible. This novel instrument can significantly improve thickener control by providing reliable and consistent bed level measurements. It is also capable of measuring bed density profiles that can potentially identify significant operating problems early enough to take corrective action before experiencing costly shut downs. INTRODUCTION Numerous studies and papers have been devoted to the subject of thickener design and operation to achieve specified throughput and discharge densities. Mathematical models have been developed that present methods for sizing thickeners and predicting performance under varying process conditions. The compression effect of deeper beds on dewatering performance is a recognized phenomenon (Wilhelm and Naide 1981). This is one variable of many that are inter-related and influence thickener performance. For example in the steady-state, continuous operation of a thickener, if the solids feed rate increases and the bed level remains the same, the underflow discharge rate must increase with the result of solids concentration being lower. The interactions of these parameters are at the heart of thickener models. One such model (Burger and Narvaez 2007), predicts solids concentration profiles increasing downward and discontinuities between settling zones. This model uses sediment height (bed level) as a parameter that influences capacity calculations to achieve the specified solids concentration of the underflow. Knowing the bed depth is critical to maintaining stable thickener operation. Implicit in these modeling strategies are some basic assumptions such as homogeneous distribution of solids in the different settling zones, plug flow of solids through the settling zones and steady state operation of the thickener. The accuracy of these assumptions has not been verified because there has been little visibility inside the bed of full size operating thickeners. Testing of the instrument presented in this paper demonstrates that it provides a degree of visibility of the dynamics in a thickener not previously possible and indicates that the basic assumptions of the modeling strategies may not be completely accurate."

With the world’s ever-expanding push to expand technological capabilities, the need for specialized materials including rare earth elements has exploded. One source found in the USA is bastnaesite, a rare earth bearing fluorocarbonate mineral, currently mined at the Mountain Pass Mine in California. To increase production, it is essential to optimize existing processes and create new ones to better utilize current resources. Therefore, a US Department of Energy Critical Materials Institute sponsored research program was carried out at the Kroll Institute for Extractive Metallurgy to expand the fundamental understanding of the industrial bastnaesite concentrate leaching system. With the help of prior knowledge, thermodynamic calculations and design of experimentation based lab testing, a novel single-stage hydrochloric leach system was created to optimize the rare earth extraction from bastnaesite. Historically, the existing industrial process has utilized a two-stage leach system involving a high-temperature hydrochloric acid leach with liquid solid separations followed by a caustic crack stage of the leach residues. A series of single-stage leach experiments were run by reacting locked cycle flotation concentrates with hydrochloric acid to test common leaching parameters. The results of these patent pending single-stage tests have shown rare earth recoveries significantly higher than reported recoveries of historic two-stage caustic crack processes, all while decreasing the equipment required and the type and amount of reagents needed.

Traditionally, designers and contractors provide additional external supports to retaining walls through the use of tie-back anchors or braces. Both approaches are known to have their shortcomings; braces limit working space within excavation areas, while tie-backs are seldom used in built-up areas where intrusion into adjacent property of non-cooperative owners has to be avoided or in situations where sensitive structures exist behind the wall. This paper focuses on the design, construction and monitoring of deep excavation support systems on two separate projects located in different ground conditions in the Republic of Ireland. On both projects, conventional ground anchorage and propping were inapplicable. This led to the development and application of two different novel solutions on both projects. Methods of wall performance monitoring on both sites also differ. Wall monitoring results show these innovative methods to be safe and effective. Advantages of the novel solutions over traditional approaches are highlighted.

"Microwave-hydrothermal processing is a novel technique which combines the conventional hydrothermal processing with microwave field and we previously showed for the first time, that ceramic powders can be rapidly produced by this technique. This review paper deals with the synthesis of unary oxides such as Fe203, Ti02, Zr02, etc., binary oxides such as BaTiO3, SrTiO 3, PbTiO 3, SrZrO 3, KNbO3, etc., and ternary oxides such as NaTi2 (PO4)3 and pyrochlore phases of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3, Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 etc. and metal powders such as Cu, Ni, etc. below 195°C. This method can be adopted to the synthesis of a large variety of powders by the appropriate control of pH, Eh, temperature/pressure and concentration of chemical species. The main advantages of this method compared to conventional hydrothermal processing are (a) it increases the kinetics of reaction by one to two orders of magnitude, and (b) it can lead to novel phases especially those with layered structures.IntroductionConventional hydrothermal processing is a well-established synthesis technique which has been extensively used in the preparation of fine ceramic powders [1-5], large single crystals [6-8] and massive cement blocks [9]. Technologically important ceramic powders such as BaTiO 3, Al203 etc. made by the hydrothermal process are now commercially available. Although there are numerous methods for materials synthesis, hydrothermal method is truly a low temperature and environmentally benign process. For example, ZrSi04 (Zircon) which is extensively used in ceramic industry can be prepared hydrothermally at 150·C [10] compared to sol-gel or solid-state method [11,12] which require a temperature of about 1000·C. The hydrothermal method is environmentally benign because hydrothermal reactions are carried out in closed systems at low temperatures and the contents can be recovered and recycled after cooling to the ambient conditions. One of the disadvantages with any low temperature processing method is slow kinetics. For this reason we have combined the hydrothermal method with microwaves to enhance kinetics and we named this method as ""Microwave-hydrothermal"" processing [13- 16]. Although the combination of microwave and hydrothermal techniques has been used in the past few years to dissolve all kinds of inorganic (e.g. alumino silicate rocks) and organic materials rapidly for chemical analysis, we were the first to show its potential value for the synthesis of various ceramic powders [13-16]. In this paper, I show that this novel method is applicable to the synthesis of all unary, binary and multinary oxides by the appropriate control of pH, Eh, temperature, pressure and concentration of chemical species. In addition, this method is also found to be useful for the preparation of metal powders."

Conventionally, emulsion matrices (unsensitized) need to be sensitized to become detonable explosives. This is done either chemically or mechanically. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages. Mechanical sensitization involves the addition of microballoons (plastic or glass) to the emulsion matrix, in order to create hot spots during detonation. This is usually done at the manufacturing site and poses a safety risk in terms of the storage, transportation and handling of a 1.1 type explosive. Many countries throughout the world make use of chemical sensitization as opposed to mechanical sensitization as this allows for the storage, handling and transportation of two 5.1 type products rather than the 1.1 type explosive. Chemical sensitization involves the addition of a small amount of a chemical that reacts with a component of the emulsion matrix causing the formation of gas bubbles that act as hot spots during detonation. The disadvantage of this is the lack of accurate density control (due to various factors affecting the reaction) and the lack of comprehensive understanding of the operators of the reaction. This can easily result in poor blast performance. Due to these disadvantages a pumpable, non-detonable (5.1 type) mechanical sensitizer was researched and developed. This product allows for pumping at a 50:50 volume ratio with the emulsion matrix, when loading into blast holes. The significance of this is that a 1.1 type explosive is formed in the blast hole. As such, the security and logistical issues of the transportation and storage of the 1.1 type explosive are eliminated. Another advantage is accurate density control of the final product, specifically in small diameter long hole applications. A cost effective, unique mini pumping system has been developed for the loading of this product. Moreover, this system can easily be used for secondary blasting applications and the on-site packaging of cartridged explosive products.

Thermo Fisher Scientific is the worldÆs leading supplier of analysers for laboratories and process industries. The companyÆs X-ray fluorescence (XRF)-based slurry immersion probes were originally developed by the acquired Amdel Instrumentation. These analysers have found limited application within wet beneficiation plants for measurement of iron. The recent trend of renewed efforts to maximise recovery from existing resources and lower costs has increased industry interest in online analysis. In the mid-1990s the company developed online analysers (the light element slurry analyser û LESA) for slurry applications using the prompt gamma neutron activation analysis (PGNAA) method. The company has successfully installed LESA for the direct measurement of lighter impurity elements in Brazilian plants using flotation for rejection of silica. A case study is presented. The PGNAA technique has the unique ability to provide elemental analysis of bulk materials on a conveyor belt. The company released its eighth generation cross belt Omni analyser using PGNAA in 2007. Results from a recent project with sinter are presented. The Niton range of hand-held XRF analysers is also supplied by Thermo Fisher Scientific. These handy devices are finding widespread use in the mining industry to provide quick and easy analyses in exploration settings. In contrast to PGNAA this is a surface technique. A prototype for light element analysis is being tested for iron ore.

Measurements of the quantity of entrained air within processes have challenged instrumentation developers for years. This is particularly true in the unique and demanding operating environment and applications seen in minerals processing. In minerals processing applications, entrained air plays a role in errors seen within nuclear density gauge measurements and in pumping efficiency. It is also the major component of flotation processes. The measurement of the quantity of entrained air, known as the gas void fraction, can now be performed from the outside of a process pipe through CiDRA?s patented passive sonar array-based technology. Within column cells, the need for a robust, no maintenance, accurate means of measuring the entrained air, known as gas holdup, has resulted in a submersible version of this technology. CiDRA?s meter technology calculates the gas void fraction by first measuring the speed at which naturally occurring sound in the process slurry propagates past an axial array of sensors. These sensors are incorporated in a band that is wrapped around the outside of the pipe, resulting in no process downtimes for installation and unprecedented reliability. A known relationship between this speed of sound and the entrained air captured in the form of bubbles within the slurry is then applied in CiDRA?s meter to calculate the gas void fraction. This paper will present the measurement technology, its operation, its calibration and its application in a variety of gas void fraction and gas holdup measurement situations such as pumping efficiencies, hydrocyclone operation, external sparging, and column cells.

The treatment of concentrates for the recovery of the precious metals imposes many processing and environmental challenges. Hydrometallurgical technology for recovery of values from refractory precious metal materials has been developed at Sunshine Mining and Refining Company. Historically, conventional pyrometallurgical methods have been used for to recover values from refractory precious metal materials. However, enhanced environmental awareness has worked to constrain typical refractory material processing methods. This hinders and limits the ability of established smelting or roasting technologies to fill the needs of new sources of refractory materials. An alternative is to treat refractory precious metal bearing materials by hydro metallurgical techniques. These methods are considered more environmentally appropriate since they do not produce gaseous pollutants like sulfur dioxide. Industrially, Sunshine Mining and Refining Company employs hydrometallurgical technology to process refractory precious metal materials. The Sunshine antimony leach uses a mixture of sulfur and caustic under ambient pressure and boiling conditions. The Sunshine oxidation leach uses a mixture of sulfuric acid and a minimal amount of sodium nitrite under relatively mild oxygen pressure and temperature conditions. These conditions result in a nitrogen species catalyzed sulfuric acid pressure leach. Since hydrometallurgical technologies provide industrially proven processing options for many types of refractory precious metal containing materials, their usage should be considered. Ample work has been conducted to prove the effectiveness of Sunshine refractory processing technologies on various materials. This has included platinum group metal materials, refractory gold concentrates, silver materials and indium materials. In some cases, complete process flowsheets have been designed to recover both base and precious metals from these materials and to treat the generated waste streams in environmentally sound manners.
