This paper outlines the regional geology and history of the area, and summarizes the stratigraphy, structure and geology of the Brunswick No. 12 mine area. The Brunswick No. 12 deposit is a stratiform massive sulphide body. It occurs in rocks of the Tetagouche Group, which is believed to range in age from Lower to Middle Ordovician. The stratigraphic sequence, including the stratiform orebody, in ascending order consists of older metasedimentary rocks, augen schist, metasediments, augen. schist, footwall metasediments, the -massive sulphide body, iron formation, hanging-wall metasediments, siliceous tuff, basic volcanic rocks , basic iron formation and a porphyry dyke. This sequence is similar to that at some other deposits in the area. Four phases of structural deformation are known to be present in the Brunswick No. 12 mine area. The first deformation folds (F1 ) and associated faulting are the most important factors in determining the distribution of the massive sulphides. This deformation has resulted in the massive sulphides being separated into four zones: the Main Zone, the West Zone, the East Zone and the V-2 Zone. Mining can be categorized as a hazardous activity, considering some factors such as environmental conditions with a considerable presence of humidity, suspended particles, or falling rocks have affected the severity and number of accidents compared with other economic sectors. The industry analyzes incident reports to narrow the rate of severe injuries and fatalities, conducting root cause analysis and identifying leading indicators. As the International Council on Mining and Metals noted, the vast trove of incident data is not analyzed as much as possible due to a lack of analytics expertise at mine sites. However, machine learning could solve the problem of analyzing all the incident data in a no-timeconsuming way, considering the abundant data, and without using expert personnel in data science. Thus, a Convolutional Neural Network and a Naïve Bayes model were introduced to perform classification in the MSHA database. The database from 2020 consists of 60 fields to describe safety incidents; these fields include mine I.D., accident date, subunit (mill, surface), material extracted, and other metadata.

Computational modeling of explosively loaded saturated sand on a suspended plate is an inherently complex problem. In this study a computational method is used to predict the dynamic pressure load/impulse from a buried charge. A fully coupled code modeling the explosive charge, sand and air with a Eulerian mesh and the plate structure with Lagrange elements, such as Gemini-Dyna, is an appropriate computational tool. In water-saturated sand, the loadings are soil and water-transmitted shock and bubble or blast effects depending on the depth and the charge size. The computations provide the capability to determine the total impulse load placed on a horizontal plate on or above the soil due to an explosion in the saturated sand for different burial depths in saturated sand and different plate stand off distances. The following test case will be presented: (a) 4.5 Kg (10 lbs) TNT, 10.16 cm (4 in) depth of burial to top of charge, and 20.32 cm (8 inch) stand off distance (Test 4).

The Mountain Con mine is a relatively old, deep mine located in Butte, Montana. Operations at this property through the present shaft were started before the turn of the century. As mining progressed to depth, increasing demand for ventilation facilities and changing mining conditions made it convenient to convert some nearby shafts to airways. The fact that these openings had not been originally planned for use as airways made it necessary in some instances to utilize long and inefficient already-estab¬lished entries to service working areas. This situation existed in the Lexington fresh air system. The Lexington system consists of a vertical, 3-compartment shaft extending from surface to the 3200 level and a series of 2-compartment air raises and old horizontal-haulage openings extending into a mining area several thousand feet west of the Lexington shaft between the 3900 level and the 4200 level. Because of restrictions and high resistance in the portion of the system between the bottom of the Lexington shaft on the 3200 and the mining area on the 3900, the capacity of this system is only 85,000 cubic feet of air per minute. It was calculated that the capacity of the system could be in¬creased to meet the demands of the current mining program in this section of the mine by utilizing a single, straight, horizontal air course on the 3200 and by driving an inclined air raise 740 feet long between the 3900 and the 3200.

Pyrrhotite (FeS1+x ,0<x<0.15) is an iron sulfide which is considered to be a pest in carbon-in-pulp/ leach (CIP/L) gold processing [l].The perceived influence of pyrrhotite on gold processing by CIP/L is a competing consumption of 02 and CN­as the pyrrhotite dissolves by oxidation [1,2]. The few studies of the oxidation chemistry, kinetics and mechanism of the oxidation ofpyrrhotite are reviewed in detail elsewhere [3].There is broad agreement that the surface of pyrrhotite is very rapidly oxidized to form a thin (e.g. 10 nm) ferric hydroxy-oxide layer which overlays an iron-deficient sulfide lattice covering the original pyrrhotite. The activity coefficient of sulfur in Cr-Fe-S melts was determined by measuring the values of Ph3Rh,in equilibrium with such melts. The results showed that chromium has a pronounced negative effect on the activity coefficient of sulfur, which up to about 20 pct Cr may be represented by the equation: log f; = - 0.019 pct Cr It was also found that the influence of chromium was not altered by the presence of appreciable amounts of carbon or silicon. The influence of alloying elements on the activity of sulfur in molten iron has been the subject of many investigations; however the effect of one important alloying element, chromium, has not been reported, and the object of the present investigation was to determine its effect on the activity coefficient of sulfur in liquid Fe-Cr-S alloys both in the absence and in the presence of carbon and/or silicon. EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE The general method employed consisted of passing mixtures of hydrogen and hydrogen sulfide over the sulfur-containing melt of interest and analyzing the outgoing gas to determine the equilibrium value of which resulted from the reaction shown in Eq. 111. H, (gas) + S (dissolved in melt) = H,S (gas) 111 The activity coefficient of sulfur, fs, was then calculated with Eq. [2] in which K, is the known equilibrium constant of Eq. [I] for dilute solutions of sulfur in iron. Raw materials used in the preparation of the charges included commercial grades of electrolytic iron and chromium and carbon-reduced, acid-treated silicon of 99.9 pct purity. Oxygen in the former presented no problem since it was removed by hydrogen in the normal course of an experiment. Carbon was added in the form of premelted iron-carbon and chromium-carbon master alloys. Sulfur was charged as iron sulfide prepared by first heating powdered iron and sulfur in air in an alumina dish until reaction occurred, and then deoxidizing by melting in a hydrogen atmosphere. Commercially bottled hydrogen and hydrogen sulfide were used after being passed through purification systems containing palladium, "Drierite," and magnesium perchlorate in the case of hydrogen, and "Drierite" alone in the case of hydrogen sulfide. Lamp-grade cylinder argon served as a flushing agent without further purification. Charges weighing from 300 to 500 g were placed in a high-purity alumina crucible of 0250-ml capacity and heated in an argon atmosphere in the induction-heated carbon-tube furnace illustrated in Fig. 1. During heating, a dry hydrogen atmosphere was substituted for argon in order that deoxidation of the charge and flushing out of argon would be accomplished sooner. After the charge melted, a Pt-Pt 10 pct Rh thermocouple contained in an alumina protection tube was immersed in the melt, and the desired melt temperature (usually 1600°C) was established. Higher temperatures up to 1760°C were required for some chromium-rich alloys because of their higher melting points, and in these cases a Pt 6 pct Rh-Pt 30 pct Rh thermocouple was used. The Powderhorn complex as a source of perovskite (calcium titanate) containing about 1.5% rare earths has been examined in several recent feasibility studies. Much promising exploration and process research has been done in recent years. This paper is presented with cautious optimism and with the acknowledgment that there may be some technical and economic areas yet to be explored. The Powderhorn carbonatite and alkalic stock in Gunnison County, Colorado, lies about 203 airlines km southwest of Denver at an elevation of 2450 to 2750 m (see Figures land 2). All of the mineable ore bodies are owned by Buttes Resources Company of Houston, Texas.

The paper outlines the development of a solvent extraction process for the recovery of scandium, yttrium, thorium, and heavy lanthanides from waste sulphate liquor at the Port Pirie uranium treatment plant. A summary is given of known solvents for these elements, including the recently developed alkyl-phosphoric acid esters which are applicable to sulphate solutions.A kerosene solution of di- (2&apos;-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (EHPA) has been suggested by some workers as a suitable solvent for fractionation of the lanthanides. Experimental work with this solvent showed that it could be used for initial recovery of the above elements from low concentrations in the complex sulphate liquor. In particular, scandium could be recovered as a high grade product by extraction with 0&#183;lM EHPA, followed by a purification strip with 9N sulphuric acid, and final stripping of scandium with sodium hydroxide solution.To enable alkaline stripping to be used successfully, the kerosene solution of the reagent was modified by the addition of a small proportion of nonanol. Experimental work included laboratory scale batch tests and small pilot scale continuous tests.A proposed extension of the process for the separate recovery of individual heavy lanthanides, yttrium, and thorium is described.INTRODUCTIONAt the Port Pirie uranium treatment plant of the South Australian Government, large volumes of &quot;barren liquor&quot;, free from &apos;uranium, are at present run to waste. CESL has developed a proprietary hydrometallurgical process for base metal concentrates, notably those of copper and nickel. The process is based on pressure oxidation (PO) of the sulphide minerals, which is done at elevated temperatures in mixed sulphate-chloride liquor at about pH 2 ? 3. The process achieves maximum oxidation of the metals whilst minimizing sulphur oxidation to sulphate. Almost all base metal sulphide minerals are efficiently treated under these conditions. In the case of copper minerals, pressure oxidation does not generally put the copper into solution, because of the relatively high pH prevailing in this process. Therefore, PO is followed by an acidic leaching stage, which specifically aims at maximum copper dissolution with minimal leaching of iron. The overall copper recovery is largely determined by the efficiency of this stage. The process has low capital and operating costs, partly because there is minimal use of acid or neutralizing agents for iron dissolution or precipitation, respectively; this is achieved by minimizing iron leaching during both the oxidation and leaching stages. Iron sulphides in the feed concentrate deport almost entirely to the solid leach residue as hematite, which has superior handling characteristics for filtering and washing. Iron minerals play a key role in the process, with pyrrhotite and pyrite having very different responses to the oxidation process. Acid management for the whole process is affected by the iron mineralogy, and the flowsheet is therefore tuned to the specific concentrate.

In the early operations of the Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company, which extended from 1914 to 1926, the ore as mined contained principally sulphide copper minerals, manly chalcocite (Cu2S), This ore was milled in a 20,000-ton concentrator and the copper was recovered as a flotation concentrate which, was smelted at the nearby plant of the I ternational Smelting and Refining Company. In those days no attempt was made torecovercopper from any oxide minerals present. As mining operations progressed it soon became evident that the proportion of oxide minerals present would steadily increase, and. it was realized that some method of treatment would have to be developed whereby copper could&apos; be recovered from both oxide and. sulphide minerals contained in the ore. A research program was instituted and after some years of experimental and, pilot plant work a new hydro-metallurgical process was developed whereby it became possible to extract copper from both the oxide and. sulphide minerals in a single leaching operation. The solvent adopted consisted of a mixture of sulphuric acid and ferric sulphate,&apos; Following dissolution, the dissolved copper would be recovered by electrolysis. Also in the process of electrolyzing, spent solutions of sulphuric acid, H2SO4, and. ferric sulphate, Fe2(SOk)3, would be regeneratede and. somade available for continuous reuse. The process appeared to be a success and the decision was made to build a full-sized leaching plant for the future treatment of I spiration mixed ore. Construction was started and the leaching plant was completed in 1926, With the start of ferric-sulphate leaching the Inspiration Concentrator was shut down and, with the exception of a few short time runs has not operated since that time. The ferric sulphate leaching process served. Inspiration well for some 30 years and during that time won a name for itself as a classic example of hydro-metallurgical treatment of mixed sulphide oxide ores. Originally the plant was designed. to process some 7,500 tons per day of a mixed ore containing about 1,2% copper, of which 60% was present as oxide and. 40% as sulphide, Down through the years various improvements were made for the purpose of increasing plant capacity and as well to change the limiting &apos;factor of sulphide-oxide ratio, The final result was a leaching capacity of 9,600 tons per day when treating a 1% copper ore with a reversal of the sulphide-oxide ratio to 60% sulphide and 40% oxide.

"Biohydrometallurgy is the use of microbiological reactions to assist in the extraction of metals. Bioleaching offers an innovative alternative for the treatment of refractory gold-bearing sulphides (1). One particular cost advantage of bioleaching is the potential to enhance gold extraction after only partial sulphide oxidation. The apparent selective sulphide oxidation is more prevalent where the refractory gold is associated with arsenic and antimony (2). Oxidation of the pyrite minerals and arsenopyrite at different oxidation rates can result in high gold extractions at relatively low levels of sulphide oxidation due to preferential, or selective, oxidation of the arsenic mineral. Arsenic extraction rates in a bioleach process typically exceed the iron extraction rate. Therefore, in concentrates in which the precious metals are principally associated with arsenic minerals, liberation of the precious metals may be possible with high recoveries and less than complete sulphide oxidation. The capital and operating cost advantages of partial sulphide oxidation are inherently obvious and are briefly illustrated herein.Ultra fine milling (UFM) is another alternative for enhancing gold extraction from refractory sulphides. Some refractory gold is simply particle size sensitive and UFM can improve gold extraction without the need for costly sulphide oxidation (3). Fine grinding technology for enhanced gold recovery developed by Metprotech, South Africa, is currently producing 2 - 4 micron ground product using a single pass, stirred ball mill. Proper application engineering has ensured that plug flow occurs through the mill. Plug flow from the feed inlet at the bottom of the reactor ensures that short circuiting of feed does not occur and as a result, the mill product does not require classification.A combination of UFM as a pretreatment for bioleaching could provide a mechanism for enhanced selective sulphide biooxidation and/or increased overall gold extraction following biooxidation due to improved particle liberation ( 4). The effect of UFM on biooxidation costs will be discussed. Only sulphide concentrates are considered herein for application of UFM in combination with biooxidation."

In the authors? experience inappropriate water management in hydraulic fill masses has been the root cause of most barricade failures. Inappropriate water management can lead to high water pressures, reduced effective stresses and increased barricade stresses (Kuganathan 2002). In addition the high hydraulic conductivity and non-plastic nature of most hydraulic fills makes susceptibility to piping failure (Cowling et al. 1987) a high possibility in many hydraulic backfills where a static water head is available. In order to avert both of these failure mechanisms it is essential to control the elevation of the phreatic surface within the fill mass. This is usually achieved through campaigned filling and resting periods. The duration of filling and resting periods are often estimated using some form of stope drainage simulator. Due to the random nature of many characteristics that influence the fill mass hydraulic conductivity, simulation of hydraulic fill drainage can be difficult. The high consequences of inaccurate phreatic surface estimates combined with the high variability in drainage properties often results in operators taking a conservative approach to this modelling. This conservative approach can lead to significant delays in the filling cycle which can have a major impact on the productivity of many hydraulic fill operations and can often results in an unnecessary movement towards capital intensive paste fill systems. This paper presents a water management technique which combines a simplified drainage model with in-situ monitoring to provide a rational approach to water management. With an accurate drainage model filling operations can be carried out at optimum efficiency without compromising safety. The implementation of this strategy has lead to a significant increase in filling rates at a number of Australian filling operations. A brief case study from one of these sites has been presented.

Historically, coal miners have known that roof shales can deteriorate in contact with humid mine air, causing massive roof falls and injuries from falling rock. It is critical to recognize rocks prone to weathering and to adequately support these rocks in order to ensure the long-term stability of the openings. In a recent study, NIOSH has used a wet/dry cycling test to determine the moisture sensitivity of over 800 specimens of roof rock from 25 U.S. coal mines. Fireclays and some gray shales are the most moisture-sensitive. Rocks with disturbed bedding, in contrast to flat-bedded rocks, are also more sensitive to water. Black shales are relatively un-reactive to moisture and serve to protect more reactive gray shales above. Mines that have roof rocks with moisture-sensitivity indexes above 40% can experience slaking roof conditions, and many require high coverage surface controls. Three case studies are presented in which the moisture-sensitivity index is correlated to roof conditions underground, and can be used to indicate long term deterioration. Engineering measures are described to control moisture-sensitive roof. In one case, roof screen not only reduces injuries from rock fall but also is shown to reduce roof falls. The combined effects of the addition of Silicon (Si) as alloying element and low temperature annealing on the tensile properties of 70/30 brass with Nickel (Ni) and Iron (Fe) contaminants is investigated in this paper. Melts of cartridge brass were made to which 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3 and 4 wt % of Si was added. These were sand cast into rods of 600 mm by 10 mm diameter and were thereafter machined into standard tensile test samples. Some of these samples were annealed in a muffle furnace at temperatures of 250, 300, 350, 400 and 450 oC respectively and the others were used as control. Subsequently, all the heat treated and non heat treated samples were subjected to tensile tests on a Hounsfield Extensometer and the load – extension plots retrieved were analyzed. Microstructural characterizations of the samples were carried out using Accu-Scope Optical Microscope. The results showed that cartridge brasses subjected to alloying and annealing treatments had improved tensile and yield strengths. However, the tensile properties were increased and maintained within acceptable limits at stress relieve annealing temperatures.

A pilot scale experimental investigation of the condensation of zinc vapour from smelter off-gases was performed in conjunction with a mathematical modelling study of the system. The work investigated the feasibility of using the high heat and mass transfer rates associated with a fluidised bed to condense zinc directly from smelter off-gases containing zinc vapour. Of particular interest was whether zinc would revert to zinc oxide during the process of condensation, and whether a zinc fog would form and be carried out of the condenser. A 0.1 m diameter fluidised bed condenser was mounted on the top of a 200 kVA DC electric arc furnace in which mixtures of vapours and gases were generated at 1150 - 1300¦C. The gas/vapour mixtures investigated included Zn/N2, Zn/N2/CO/CO2 and Zn/N2/H2/H2O. Greater than 90 per cent of the zinc was deposited on the zircon sand bed of the condenser, and there was no sign of zinc oxide formation, suggesting that the rate of heat transfer was faster than the reaction rate for zinc oxide formation. There was also no evidence that fog was being formed in the condenser. Using the methods of Kunii and Levenspeil (1991), a mathematical model was developed to predict the behaviour of the fluidised bed condenser. The model enabled the distribution of gas/vapour temperature and bed temperature to be determined as a function of distance from the condenser inlet. Similarly the partial pressure of zinc vapour in the gas mixture, and hence the mass transfer rate of zinc to the particles, was determined. Experimental data allowed validation of the predicted bed and gas/vapour temperatures.

The purpose of this paper is to present the results of theoretical and experimental studies of water imbibition. The imbibition processes are involved in recovery of oil from stratified and fractured-matrix formations in natural water drives and water flooding. An understanding of the role of inhibition in implementing the recovery of oil from such formations is deemed essential to proper control of these reservoirs to achieve maximum recovery. The theoretical studies involved development of the differential equations which describe the spontaneous imbibition of water by an oil-saturated rock. The dependence of the rate of water intake by the rock on the permeability, interfacial tension, contact angles, fluid viscosities and fluid saturatiorls is discussed. A few experiments were performed using core samples to determine the effects of core length and presence of a free gas suturation. The role of water imbibition in recovery of oil from a fractured-matrix reservoir by water flooding was investigated by use of a laboratory model. This model was scaled to represent one element of a frac-tured-matrix formation. Water floods were made at various rates with several fracture widths. Interpretations were made of the behavior expected in a system containing many matrix blocks. The presence of a free gas sntu.ration was found to reduce the rate of water imbibition. In the reservoir prototype of the fractured-matrix model, water imbibition rather than direct displacement by water was the dominant mechanism in the recovery of oil at low rates. INTRODUCTION Imbibition may be defined as the spontaneous taking up of a liquid by a porous solid. The spontaneous process of imbibition occurs when the fuid-filled solid is immersed or brought in contact with another fluid which preferentially wets the solid. In the process of wetting and flowing into the solid, the imbibing fluid displaces the non-wetting resident fluid. Common examples of this phenomenon are dry bricks soaking up water and expelling air, a blotter soaking up ink and expelling air and reservoir rock soaking up water and expelling oil. As increasingly better lithological descriptions have been made of the characteristics of petroleum-bearing formations, it has become obvious that imbibition phenomena which were once considered laboratory curiosities are of practical importance. For instance, in reservoirs composed of water-wet sand strata of different permeability in intimate contact, the tendency of water to channel through the more permeable stratum is offset by the tendency for water to imbibe into the tight sand and expel oil into the coarse sand. Also, in fractured-matrix formations the tendency of water to channel through the fractures is offset by water-wet matrix blocks. As some imbibition of the water into the of the largest fields in the world are fractured-matrix reservoirs, it has become increasingly important to understand all the factors involved in the imbibition process. Examples of fractured-matrix reservoirs are the Spraberry field in West Texas which produces from a fractured sandstone&apos;, the giant Kirkuk field in Iran&apos;, the Dukhan field in Qatar, Persian Gulf2, and the Masjid-I-Sula-main and the Haft-Kel fields in Southwestern Iran, which produce from fissured limestone3. Research into recovery of oil from fractured-matrix formations was stimulated by the rapid decline of oil productivity of wells in the Spraberry formation. One result of this research was the water imbibition process developed by the Atlantic Refining Co.4 Another idea was that much of the Spraberry oil could be recovered by conventional water-flooding procedures5. Subsequently, pilot floods were conducted in this field to test the feasibility of these ideas. It was felt that an understanding of the role played by imbibition processes in displacement of oil from a fractured-matrix reservoir could not be obtained from field data alone because of the many complicating factors and uncertainties involved. Therefore, theoretical and laboratory studies were undertaken to provide this understanding. Study of the equations which describe the linear, countercurrent imbibition process provided an insight into the role of various factors in the process, such as the permeability of rock and inter-facial tension. In addition to the theoretical studies, imbibition experiments were conducted with core samples to determine the effect on the rate of imbibition of such variables as core length and free gas saturation. MECHANIZATION in coal mining is a phrase which has attracted world-wide attention, and those persons not engaged on the practical side of coal-mine operations seem to regard mechanization as a panacea for many difficulties of the industry. The term "mechanization" as now employed by experienced mining men is restricted to mean mechanical loading of coal at the face. In a broader sense mechanization in coal mining was begun nearly half a century ago with the introduction of compressed-air undercutting machines and locomotives and, later, of electrically operated locomotives, undercutting and shearing machines, and drills. The use of coal-cutting machines, which has increased until now about three- fourths of the bituminous coal produced is being mechanically cut, first displaced hand-picking except in a few long-wall mines, and later gradually displaced the dangerous and coal-smashing method of blasting-off- the-solid.

Compared to coal or many metals industries, talc must be considered a small, specialty market catering to niches and dependent primarily on the physical attributes of the mined and processed mineral rather than the chemical attributes with copper, lead or uranium concentrate, the primary objective is the percent metal that ultimately is refined by the smelter, as opposed to the brightness, particle size distribution, trace impurities or morphology. The latter constitute the important determinants of where, how and why talc and similar industrial minerals are used. This paper addresses the talc market-place: where it is, how much of a market there is, who the producers are, available capacity, market growth, and marketing techniques.

The Gross Rosebel gold deposits are located in the Guiana Shield of north central Suriname. Initial discovery of surficial gold in 1880 by local artisanal miners preceded small-scale mechanized mining from 1885 to 1939. The first systematic exploration program was carried out by Placer Development from 1974 to 1977. In May 1992 Golden Star Resources optioned the property. Initial shallow reconnaissance diamond drilling of the extensive surface geochemical anomalies intersected sporadic gold mineralization with no apparent continuity between drill sections. Successive deep augering, trenching and systematic grid drilling based on information from surface mapping allowed development of a preliminary geological model. Further drilling of specific structural-lithologic targets and more complete synthesis of geological data from the trenching and deep auger sampling added to the geological model and defined the multiple controls of gold mineralization. Carefully planned infill drilling on a tighter grid spacing resulted in progressive definition of reserves within six discrete gold deposits. In a complex geological setting, the key to success at Gross Rosebel was persistent, systematic exploration, detailed mapping, careful core logging and perceptive geological interpretation. Reserves now stand at 48.6 Mt at 1.6 glt Au, or 2.4 million ounces of gold. The purpose of this paper is to describe the progression of exploration activity that led to the definition of substantial gold reserves and to summarize the geology of the deposits.

This paper will discuss the inherent value engineering associated with the design and construction of approximately 184,000 SF of anchored tieback wall, installed as part of the widening and drainage improvements for KY9 in Campbell County, Kentucky. The total project is 2.2 miles in length. The anchored walls, excavation grading and drainage total to a complete project cost of $28.4 million. This is one of the largest design-build projects undertaken by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It also features another first for the Transportation Cabinet - the general contractor is responsible for quality control/quality assurance. The project is located just south of Cincinnati, OH and is situated along the east bank of the Licking River. The slopes along this stretch of the river have had a long history of movement and instability. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advertised the anchored wall portion of this project to be designed and constructed by pre-approved specialty contractors. The Transportation Cabinet provided the basic design parameters to each specialty contractor. Aspects to be discussed include the site and project history, previous attempts at slope stabilization along existing KY9, the technical proposal and bidding process, and the actual design and construction.
