Accidents occur when least expected, from sources that we rarely anticipate and with outcomes that can vary greatly. Anyone who has ever been involved in an automobile accident knows, the transition from driving comfortably and safely down a highway to being involved in a potentially life-threatening situation can occur in a heartbeat. Accidents on the job are no different. The mining industry has a relatively small number of electrical injuries, compared to industries such as construction or agriculture, due to the small total employment in mining. Mining does, however, have one of the highest occupational electrocution rates of any U.S. industry, at 2.8 for every 100,000 workers per year. This is approximately four times the average for all industries. Data from the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) shows that 75 electrical fatalities occurred in the mining industry between 1990 and 1999. Of these, at least 17% involved high-reaching mobile equipment that contacted overhead power lines.

Introduction The relationship between precious metal miners and gold refiners has been uneasy over the years. Reasons for this uneasiness and lack of trust include technical factors, economics of scale, and cultural differences. Technical factors take two forms. First, concentrates, precipitates, and sponge produced at the mine site are notoriously difficult to sample. A nonrepresentative sample can be the cause of misunderstanding and distrust. Dote, however, is relatively homogeneous and can be correctly sampled and analyzed with greater reliability. Second, the technology and chemistry of fine gold and silver production is complex and quite different from dote production. Most mining companies are content not to be involved with additional processing steps. From the standpoint of process economies, it is easy to see why miners and refiners are separate groups. Mine location is dictated by the natural occurrence of ore bodies. Heavy capital investment requirements for infrastructure in remote locations usually limits companies to produce the first marketable product from a mine. Beyond that point, the economies of scale and large capital investments for refineries generally dictate that the outputs of several mines be combined to feed a single refinery. The refin¬ing process is so complex that refineries are generally built in larger cities with a skilled labor pool. Therefore, only the largest mines can afford to refine their own output. Lastly, there are cultural differences between the miner and the refiner. The miner, particularly the small gold miner, is by definition a risk taker in a risky business. Refineries, on the other hand, have historically been operated under legal or implied monopolies approved by the government. The government is interested in owning gold, either for currency reasons or because many national mints are major users of gold coins. It is not surprising, then, to find that miners may regard refiners as part of an unresponsive government bureaucracy or, worse, as "city slickers." It is easy for the two groups to distrust each other with these different backgrounds. The interface between miner and refiner does exist and affects nearly all precious metal mining companies and most refineries. This paper discusses the technical and economic aspects of the interface. It points out how both parties can improve the relationship. Technical interface Precious metals selectively dissolve to produce a pregnant solution. They are then recovered from solution by zinc precipitation (Merrill-Crowe process) or by absorption onto activated carbon. This is followed by stripping and electrowinning. At this point, the mining company must decide whether to ship precipitates (or sponge) to refiners or to produce a dote. Some factors the company must consider are the ability to sample precipitates, concentrates or sponge, security of storage, and production rates. An important factor is the incremental cost (capital and operating) of converting precipitates or sponge into dote at the mine. Generally, mines prefer to melt precipitates or sponge to dote to avoid prob¬lems associated with sampling them. There are three types of fur¬naces used by mining operators to melt precipitates to dote. The first and most widely used is a sil¬icon carbide crucible heated ex¬ternally with a gaseous liquid fuel. The crucible is easy to use and slag can be skimmed before pouring dote. This simple system is capable of handling 1 t/a (32,000 oz per year) gold. It could cost as little as $20,000. More complex systems could cost up to $200,000. The second type of furnace is the gas- or propane-fired rever¬beratory furnace. This is usually used only by large-scale opera¬tors in the silver business. Precip¬itates in reverberatory furnaces come in direct contact with the flame. The large volumes of flue gas can carry significant amounts of dust and fume that must be re¬moved from the gas before dis¬charging it to the atmosphere. In the days when the Rand re¬finery in South Africa used reverberatory furnaces, the silver leaving the furnace in the form of vapor and fume was estimated at 2.2% of the total silver charged to the furnace. The gold in the gases was about 0.03% of the gold charged. Most of this silver and gold was recovered in the exhaust gas scrubber system. These scrub¬ber systems can be more costly than the furnace itself.

Flame propagation of lower limit hybrid coal dust-methane-air mixtures in vertical and horizontal flame ducts of 15.2 cm id and 1.8 m length has been investigated to provide information bearing on safety in mines. Fuel concentrations at lower limits of flame propagation and equivalences of coal dust and methane are much higher for continuing flame propagation than for short-span flame propagation in the vicinity of an "overdriving" ignition source. As the energy of the ignition source was increased, the flame speed and the distance of flame propagation from the ignition source increased, whereas the total fuel concentration at the lower limit decreased.

"Falconbridge’s Raglan Concentrator, located at the northern limit of Quebec’s Nunavik Region, has been in operation since December 1997. Originally designed to process 800,000 tonnes per year of high grade nickel ore, plant capacity is currently approaching 1,000,000 tonnes per year. Optimization of the ABC grinding circuit has proven to be the most challenging component of this capacity increase. Concurrent flotation circuit modifications have allowed concentrate grades to increase from 16 to 18 percent nickel, while maintaining recoveries. Concentrate drying problems encountered during the first 15 months of operation have been addressed through equipment upgrades. The challenges associated with surface deposition of filtered tailings in an arctic environment are now better understood, and detailed design of the progressive reclamation cover is underway.GRINDINGCircuit OverviewOre from open pit and underground mining operations is introduced to the underground ore handling system via surface and underground truck dumps. Two underground bins with a combined capacity of 4000 tonnes provide roughly a day of live capacity for ore storage. Ore from the two bins is conveyed to a 150 tonne surge bin immediately ahead of the grinding circuit in the concentrator.The Raglan grinding circuit has a conventional ABC configuration (Figure 1) with a design capacity of 100 mtph (800,000 tonnes per year). The 24’ AG mill is powered by a 3000 hp motor with variable speed drive. AG discharge is sized on a 8’x16’ single deck vibrating screen, with screen oversize recirculating to a 5 %’ short head cone crusher (400 hp) before returning to the AG mill. Screen undersize is combined with ball mill discharge to feed up to 5 15” Krebs hydrocyclones. The ball mill is a 14’x 21’ overflow mill driven by a 3000 hp motor at 73% critical speed. Target Pgo for the grinding circuit product is 65 microns"

Introduction The Homestake Mining Co. has always been big on gold. After 108 years in the business, the company and its principal product are almost synonymous. The relationship continues. On Sept. 28, 1985, Homestake held formal dedication ceremonies for its newest gold mine - McLaughlin. The McLaughlin open-pit operation is located in northern California, some 113 km (70 miles) northeast of San Francisco. It lies near the boundaries of three counties - Napa, Yolo, and Lake - and a portion of its facilities are located in each. McLaughlin was originally the site of the Manhattan mercury mine that produced nearly 80,000 flasks of the quicksilver from the 1860s to 1978. At the September dedication, Homestake renamed the mine in honor of the late Donald H. McLaughlin. McLaughlin was with Homestake for nearly 60 years. He rose from exploration geologist to his ultimate positions of chief executive officer, director, chairman of the board of directors, chairman emeritus, and chairman of the executive committee. The discovery of the McLaughlin deposit occurred in 1978, the last year of operation for the Manhattan mine. Homestake geologists used a newly developed model and found surface gold at the mine site. That same year, Homestake signed an agreement with the property owner and began a two-and-a-half year exploration program. An initial discovery announcement of 31.1 t (1 million oz) of gold was made in 1980. In 1981, this was revised to 93.3 t (3 million oz), or 18 Mt (20 million st) of ore grading 5.2 g/t (0.152 oz per st). Expected mine life is 20 years. Construction began in September 1983, following the issuance of stage one permits. Start-up of operations took place in early 1985 and the first gold-silver dore bar was poured on March 4. Since then, more than 540 kt (600,000 st) of ore has been milled, producing about 1.6 t (50,000 oz) of gold. Of special interest at McLaughlin is the use of three autoclaves for gold extraction. According to Homestake, this is a first. The autoclaves are designed for a 90% gold recovery rate. Early results have proven yields at this rate and higher. Let’s start off with your assessment of the mining industry. Today, the status of the mining industry is stronger than it has been over the previous few years. While mining continues to be a major part of the world’s economic foundation, the industry is gaining strength due to rebounding metals and minerals prices. And now, with these rising prices and the changes the industry instituted during the years when mining-related commodities were selling at low prices, our stronger, more productive and internationally competitive industry should flourish. Mining remains an essential business and the industry is far ahead of the game when it comes to the trend of globalization as a key to sustained growth. Also, the industry continues to realize increased productivity through technological innovations. And an increasing number of countries are moving towards capitalism, which opens doors for exploration and mining within their borders. After looking at all of these factors, I believe that the mining industry will only continue to gain momentum in the future.

The Huoqiu iron ore field in north-west Anhui province is located in the south-east margin of the North China Craton and hosts large iron resources. Orebodies are hosted in Neoarchean amphibolite facies metamorphic rocks, forming silicon-iron bands from north to south. The area is dominated by an Early Precambrian basement consisting of Neoarchean grey gneisses, amphibolites and metasediments. The gneisses are similar with assemblages of Trondhjemite-Tonalite-Granodiorite in compositions and intercalated with amphibolites. Igneous zircons from gneisses and amphibolites have U-Pb ages of 2.86 and 2.75 Ga respectively, which are interpreted as the crystallisation ages of their protolith. Zircons from amphibolite and gneiss have eHf(t) values of 2.4–15.5 and -3.0–1.5 respectively. The tDM2(Hf) model ages of the gneiss range from 2.87 to 3.14 Ga, which is consistent with tDM1(Hf) ages of amphibolite (2.84–3.16 Ga). The U-Pb-Hf isotopes thus confirm that the gneisses were generated by partial melting of amphibolite. Two granites produce two group Hf isotopic compositions. The older one (1916 ± 42 Ma) has eHf(t) values and tDM1(Hf) ages of -9.4–3.4 and 2.24–2.71 Ga respectively, whereas the younger one (1823 ± 41 Ma) shows a large variation in eHf(t) values of -18.1–12.5 and tDM1(Hf) model ages of 1.73–2.92 Ga. Geological and geochemical characteristics indicate that the Huoqiu banded iron formations are a Superior-type iron formation rather than an Algoma-type as previously considered.CITATION:Yang, X, Liu, L and Wang, B, 2015. Due to the time consuming nature of froth testing in a laboratory environment, it is required, due to practical limitations, to develop a method of applying a single set of performance test data (Visintainer & Whitlock, 2012) obtained for a single froth pump at a given speed, to a range of froth pump speeds and sizes, % air contents, and liquid viscosities. Head, efficiency, and flow all vary as functions of both liquid viscosity and air content. As such, it is necessary to develop a technique which can be used to interpolate from existing test data in order to predict froth pump performance for pumps of various sizes running at variable speeds. Details of the technique developed in order to achieve this goal as well as the insights gained from analysis of the resulting regressions are discussed. Additionally, comparisons are made between the performance predictions of this test-derived method and those of the Hydraulic Institute Standard for the effects of liquid viscosity on centrifugal pump performance (ANSI/HI 9.6.7-2010).

Four mining alternatives for exploiting an ultra-deep orebody were assessed through a multidisciplinary evaluation process which involved: the generation of a 3D geological model; the design and scheduling of life-of-mine layouts; the analysis of anticipated ventilation and cooling conditions; the study of rock-related risks of mining in ultra-deep stress environments; the logistic implications of transporting men, rock and materials; and, lastly, the economic implications of each option. Once results from the integrated mine design assessment were available, mine planners were faced with an important problem to solve: how to identify the optimal mine design alternative when numerous assessment measures and multiple decision criteria needed to be considered simultaneously? To address this ‘multiple-attribute decision problem’ and arrive at the ‘optimal layout for ultra-depth’, a generic decision methodology that uses principles of ‘utility’ was applied. The methodology assumes that ‘single-value risk estimators’ do not account for the inherent variability of real conditions. Therefore, risk estimators were represented by statistical distributions of their incremental changes, where applicable. The stochastic variables, once defined, are used as inputs in the ‘utility’-based layout decision scheme. This ‘utility’-based decision methodology offers a framework for mine design decisions to be made objectively, when complex trade-offs between multiple risk domains need to be considered simultaneously. A geostatistical approach is proposed for the design of infill drilling programs. The method is consisted of three major steps: developing geological favorability models, delineating mineralization and ore envelopes, and classifying reserves or resources. Geological modeling aims at developing favorable geological zones in which drilling is designed. Modeling mineralization and ore envelopes establishes criteria on potential blocks to be drilled. Top target blocks should be those included within ore envelopes. The framework of resource categories includes five types: probable reserves, indicated reserves, indicated resources, possible resources, and barren. Indicated reserves or resources are the top priority to be drilled for the definition of minable reserves. Possible resources may be considered as targets for further exploration. The algorithms involved in the analysis include indicator favorablity analysis, ordinary kriging, and indicator kriging. A case study presented here involves a gold deposit of Carlin type. The deposit was delineated by a sparse drilling program with 230 feet of average spacing. The infill drilling program designed by the new method suggests a significant reduction on the number of holes from a regular-grid infill drilling pattern.

A statistical technique, useful to analyze assay and other data characterized by location in three dimensions, is described in this Bureau of Mines report. If present, trends in the data are defined for the purposes of improving ore estimation, predicting ore beyond existing workings, and aiding geological interpretation. The technique is to fit linear and quadratic polynomial equations to the data through the statistical method of regression analysis. The fitted linear equations have the geometric form of hyperplanes; the fitted quadratic equations have the geometric form of ellipsoids or elliptic hyperboloids of one or two sheets. To visualize these three-dimensional forms, contour maps of a series of plane sections through the fitted surfaces are plotted. Both the fitting of the polynomial equations and the plotting of the con-tour maps are done by electronic computer to facilitate calculations and to obtain accurate results. Computer programs are described in appendixes. Methods employed are illustrated by an example analysis) based on data from a part of the Fresnillo mine) Zacatecas, Mexico.

"Scrubbing both horizontal (drum) and vertical (attrition) are considered simple unit operations in the beneficiation of phosphate ores. In general, the operating conditions are fixed at high solids content based on the experience of the engineering or equipment manufacturing company responsible of designing this beneficiation step. Nevertheless, scrubbing is a complex unit operation designed to clean the surfaces of phosphate mineral particles of slimes, break loose weak inclusions or attached particles of impurities, and break aggregates of clayish material. Therefore, it is considered that as high solids content as possible should be used to enhance particle-particle interactions (impact and rubbing) without taking into consideration the rheology of the system. However, scrubbing unit operations design requires studying the balance between the increase of particle-particle interactions with the cushion effect that may occur when slimes, clays and fines decrease the availability of free water increasing the apparent viscosity of the phosphate slurry up to that of a paste consistency. This paper presents data from laboratory tests to determine the best operating conditions for the design of these unit operations based on the highest P2O5 grade obtained with the lowest impurities for different size fractions. INTRODUCTION In the beneficiation of phosphate ores, unit operations such as horizontal scrubbing (drum) and vertical scrubbing (attrition) are considered simple unit operations. Therefore, little attention is given to the design of horizontal and vertical scrubbing during the basic engineering studies, and the detail engineering stage, the manufacturers recommending “standard” units and operating conditions based on their experience. Due diligence of several beneficiation phosphate plants at industrial scale indicates that a deficient scrubbing of the phosphate ore results in significant problems in downstream unit operations, such as classification, clarification, gravity separation, magnetic separation, flotation, dewatering, and filtration. Scrubbing is in fact a complex unit operation designed to clean the surfaces of phosphate mineral particles of slimes (clays and fines), break loose weak inclusions or attached particles of impurities, and break aggregates of clayish material. Two phenomena occur, the particle-particle interaction (impact and rubbing), and the rheological effects of releasing significant amount of fines into the slurry. Therefore, high solids contents are recommended to enhance the particle-particle interactions, which may result in a change in the rheological regime of the system due to the slimes, clays, and fines decreasing the availability of free water. This increases the apparent viscosity of the system up to that of paste consistency resulting in a cushion effect that suppresses scrubbing. Under these conditions, not all fines are release and rejected (deslimed), downstream unit operations being affected by the release of clays, resulting in P2O5 losses."

Mining operations today are characterized by a high degree of mechanization and single machine automation. However, their potential for cost cuttings and increase of productivity in the future is quite limited. Enabled by newest IT and networking technology, the operation of underground mines more and more can be seen from a process related point of view: Standardized Ethernet and Wireless LAN are the basis for a seamless and unified communication backbones providing an integrated infrastructure for data, telephony and video. All the components are available as off-the-shelf devices leading to an excellent cost efficiency. Basing on this standardized infrastructure, the equipment is able to become part of the infrastructure. To enable machines to be integrated smoothly into IT networks, the machine also has to have enhanced networking capabilities. This results in a new system architecture for the on board machine electronics separating real time control from IT and networking level functionality which can be implemented by a Machine Server. This machine server communicates with all kinds of above ground systems using mainly standardized formats like html or the IREDES standard. This information is made available mainly in 3D mine visualization tools. The paper explains this technology and shows implementations by two working examples.

The kinetics of the dissolution of galena was studied by monitoring the mixed potential of a galena electrode in ferric sulfate solutions. The results show that the mixed potential of the galena electrode fluctuated with time in a regular pattern in a 0.1 mol/L Fe2(SO4)3 solution of pH 1.66 and in a 0.01 mol/L Fe2(SO4)3 solution of pH 2.33 at 35°C. The periodic accumulation and precipitation of lead ions at the galena electrode surface and the cyclical variation in pH at the galena electrode surface caused the oscillation phenomena.

"La Mine Doyon est une entreprise détenue à parts égales par Cambior Inc. et par Minerais Lac Ltée qui en est l'opérateur. Les statistiques de production au 1"" janvier 1990 indiquent que, depuis le début de son exploitation (1980), 10.3 Mt de minerai d'une teneur moyenne de 5,9 g Au/t ont été usinées. Les réserves sont estimées a 10,4 Mt à une teneur moyenne de 6,6 g Au/t jusqu' à une profondeur de-450m.Trois zones minéralisées sont présentement en exploitation. Ces zones sont caractérisées par la présence de veines de quartz-pyrite accompagnées localement de chalcopyrite. Les roches encaissantes sont les schistes a séricite (zone# 1), les roches volcaniclastiques de composition felsique (zone #2) et intermédiaire (zone #2, zone ouest) ainsi que les roches intrusives appartenant au pluton de Mooshla (zone ouest). Toutes ces roches ont subi un métamorphisme régional dont l'intensité correspond à la limite supérieure du facies schiste vert ( -425°C}.Les zones minéralisées sont situées à I' intérieur des zones de déformation et d'altération les plus intenses. L'étude des structures mineures nous indique que la région a subi plusieurs épisodes de déformation ductile a fragile qui sont antérieurs, contemporains et postérieurs al a minéralisation. L'analyse structurale indique également que la déformation majeure est associée à une importante phase de compression orientée N-S a NNE-SSW.L’ensemble des observations suggère que la minéralisation et I' altération associée sont de type épigénétique. La mise en place du minerai se serait effectuée à la fin de l'épisode principal de métamorphisme et de la déformation."

There is significant value at stake in the mining industry from the implementation of new technologies that support the enhanced profitability and sustainability of mines. However, in order to realise this value, new technology must be implemented in a way that is both effective and sustainable. The industry has a mixed history for technology implementation that provides fertile ground for understanding what is necessary for innovation to deliver value. This paper describes early stage research investigating why this is so, with the aim of improving how to deliver value. Several case studies are provided covering both successful and unsuccessful technology interventions. While investigating on the aerodynamic resistance of airways supported with peripheral timber sets, at regular intervals, the following theoretical equations were developed by the author to estimate the resistance coefficient of such airways: [ ] for S < 1, where f is Darcy-Weisbach resistance coefficient of the airway, C is modified drag coefficient of the supporting member, D is equivalent diameter of the bare airway, 8 is ratio of the approach velocity over the sets to the average velocity of the bare airway, A is cross-sectional area of the bare airway, a is projected frontal area of the sets, A., is cross-sectional area of the air stream at the vena contracta inside the set, S is spacing of the sets, f, is resistance coefficient of the bare airway, l is length of aerodynamic influence of sets, p is perimeter of the bare airway, p, is setted portion of the perimeter of the bare airway, pe is unsetted portion of the perimeter of the bare airway, and P shielding factor. The equations were verified experimentally in a model rectangular airway supported with one- (bars), three-, and four-piece sets of square-section timber of three different sizes and were found to hold true. The work has been further extended to one-, three-, and four-piece sets of round timber of 2.6, 3.2, and 3.8 cm diam with the same experimental set up. Tests have been carried out for spacings of 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 cm over a regime of flow defined by the Reynolds number (with respect to the equivalent diameter of the bare duct) ranging from about 1.5 X 106 to 5 X 106 using the same experimental techniques. The values of f are calculated in the manner indicated in [Ref. 1]. Unlike with square-section timber, the resistance coefficient f of the airway setted with round timber shows a distinct variation with the Reynolds number of flow. This conforms to observations made by Sales and Hinsley.2 In order to have a comparable value of f for all types of sets with all sizes of timber, it was necessary to select the value of f at a fixed Reynolds number of flow. Since f is chiefly a function of the drag coefficient of the sets, the appropriate Reynolds number RE is that with respect to the diameter of timber in the set. Considering the diameters of timber used and the regime of flow over which measurements were made, f was chosen at a value of RE = 20,000 in all cases. The f vs. S curves are maximal in nature and in conformity with theory, the f vs. 1/S curves are straight lines up to a value of S = 1 beyond which they show a distinct flexure. The observed values of 1, the length of aerodynamic influence of sets, agree with the relation 1 = 42 e, developed for square-section timber sets, thus suggesting that the shape of timber has little influence on the length of aerodynamic influence. The value of the modified drag coefficient CD for round timber was calculated in the same way as for square timber in Ref. 1, taking the contraction factor Z = 1.5 for round-edged constrictions. CD has an average value of 0.96 with a standard deviation of 6.08% as compared to the free stream drag coefficient of 1.2 at RE = 20,000 for long cylindrical obstructions The shielding factor [ ] is plotted against S/1 in [Fig. 1]. The curves are more or less independent of the size of timber, but are different for the different types of sets, possibly due to their different degree of symmetry. Values of f calculated by the author&apos;s [Eqs. 1 and 2], using experimental values of CD&apos; and [ ] and taking I = 42 e, are plotted in [Fig. 2] against experimentally measured values of f for different types of sets with different sizes of round timber. The values agree closely with a standard deviation of only 5%, thus establishing the veracity of the theoretical equations developed by the author for round timber as well. A comparison was made between the Xenofontowa4 equations (the only other reasonable relations available for the estimation of the resistance coefficient of supported airways) and the author&apos;s [Eqs. 1 and 2] by comparing in [Fig. 3] the values of the resistance coefficient f computed by the Xenofontowa relations with those experimentally measured by the author. Working in New York City has become the graveyard of many Foundation Contractors. Varying subsurface conditions require Foundation Contractors to be aware of the conditions at each particular site and have the knowledge and equipment to successfully complete the project. Looking back, we can see that many of the methods and much of the equipment that were commonly used in the past have been replaced with newer methods and equipment, but sometimes the old methods prove to be the most reliable. This paper will describe examples of varying conditions and construction methods in sites that are close to each other. It will also show different construction problems that are encountered when working adjacent to existing subway structures, when excavating below the foundations of adjacent structures and when ground water is encountered.

Located in the north-west of Kazakhstan is a world-class podiform chromite deposit. Donskoy mining and beneficiation complex (DGOK), a branch of Kazchrome TNC, which is a subsidiary of the Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) operates two underground mines in this area, one of which is the ‘10th Anniversary of Kazakhstan Independence’ (DNK) mine.The mine currently applies the gravity caving mining method, producing 1.8 Mt/a of ore utilising a slusher layout and rail transport to the hoisting shafts. The deeper zones form the largest mineral resources at the DNK mine and are planned to be developed in the next several years. At this depth, the generally poor ground conditions, combined with the high in situ stress state will potentially lead to extremely challenging mining conditions.This paper describes a technical study undertaken by SRK to determine the possibility of increasing the maximum production rate from the currently envisaged 6.0 Mt/a to 7.2 Mt/a, and to reduce the time taken to steady state production.Based on a newly created 3D model, the inclined caving method was proposed for the largest orebodies. This method, presently not implemented at any operating mine, although planned for two other projects, was deemed very suitable to deal with the weak rock mass characteristics and the plunging morphology of the mineralisation.Dassault Syst&#232;mes’ GEOVIA’s Footprint Finder software (a module of GEOVIA’s PCBC™) was used to determine the caving zones and production schedules. The total mine design was completed in Deswik software, and resulting schedules combined in Excel.In addition to the use of an inclined caving method, several other suggestions were made to increase the productivity of the mine, such as the application of a conveyor belt system transporting multiple material types, teleremote technologies and the application of thin sprayed liners to reduce the swelling of the rock mass.CITATION:Fuykschot, J J and Loewen, S M, 2016.
