The U.S. Bureau of Mines (USBM) conducted a series of laboratory tests to investigate the effectiveness of using a flooded-bed scrubber with exhaust ventilation in deep-cut faces of up to 12.2 m in length. An experimental test program to determine the impact on respirable dust levels resulting from changes in face airflow, curtain setback distance, operator positioning, and operating parameters of the external spray system on the miner was completed. Gravimetric sampling was conducted in the immediate return and at three sampling locations on the off-curtain side of the entry. Statistically significant differences in dust levels on the order of 0.5 to 1.2 mg/m3 were observed between specific sampling locations and changes in several test parameters. Dust sampling results indicated that a flooded-bed scrubber and exhaust ventilation can be a viable dust control system for extracting deep cuts up to 12.2 m in length. The impact on methane was not evaluated.

AH pilot and commercial plants working with Mesabi Range taconite employ wet magnetic separation. Progress is being made with a dry magnetic process, but this has not yet been applied to taconite except in the laboratory and pilot plants. Flowsheets in all five plants are similar, including multiple stages of grinding, each followed by magnetic separation, which rejects a finished tailing. The flowsheet in Fig. 1 is used in the preliminary and commercial plants of the Erie and Reserve mining companies and in Unit C of Oliver's Pilotac plant. At Erie the desliming operation is omitted. In the Reserve plants two ball mills are used with each rod mill. Pilotac uses flowsheet 2 in Unit A-B and has also tested flowsheet 3. Principal differences in the three flowsheets are the number of grinding stages and the type of roughing. The terms open-circuit roughing and closed-circuit roughing are best defined by the diagrams. Special Test Data Given in Table I: For the Erie and Reserve commercial plants, Table I reflects routine conditions. Pilotac, the experimental plant, has been run with several flowsheets, including those followed at Erie and Reserve's commercial operations. Abstract Between the German city of Dresden and the Czech capital Prague a 4-lane highway is under con-struction. At the outskirts of Dresden it will cross the narrow and deeply eroded Weißeritz Valley by a bridge. Two twin tube tunnels under oblique angles join the bridge out of the rocky valley flanks. The different geotechnical conditions of these 4 tunnel portals, their design and construction are described within this publication. The two southern portals of the tunnel Dölzschen are situated within a vertical 65 m high former quarry slope, 25 m above the valley floor. The slope proved instable due to toppling failure and exposed serious rockfall risks. Systematic anchoring, scaling, rock bolting, netting and filling under extreme access conditions eliminated these risks. Tunnel excavation started from the slope surface without any pre-cut or conventional portal construction. The opposite northern portals of the tunnel Coschütz are situated in more gentle rock slopes. After removal of debris, excavation of the eastern tunnel started in a 30° slope striking oblique to the driving direction, without any precut, too. Because of the gentle slope inclination the cross section was not earlier completely covered by rock than 30 m behind. The western tunnel started from an optimized short, narrow and steep precut. Its flanks were stabilized by reinforced shotcrete and rock bolts. Because of the small distance between the tubes rock bolts were drilled into the cross section of the neighboring tunnel. Tunnel excavation was made by drill and blast operation, preliminary support consisted of steel arches, reinforced shotcrete and radial rock bolts. Thorough survey of the bolt’s coordinates and direction prevented them from meeting each other. Rock bolts were of the permanent type to prevent the final lining from being obliquely loaded. Systematically arrayed measuring devices checked deformations of slopes and tunnels. Zusammenfassung Der Neubau der Bundesautobahn A 17 wird Dresden und Prag miteinander verbinden. Die vierspurige Autobahn quert westlich von Dresden das enge und tief eingeschnittene Tal der Wilden Weißeritz mit einer Brücke. An beide Brückenwiderlager schließen mit schiefwinkligem Anschnitt doppelröhrige Tunnel an, deren Portale in den felsigen Talflanken liegen. Die unterschiedlichen geotechnischen Verhältnisse, die Überlegungen für einen jeweils optimalen Entwurf und der Bau der portalnahen bergmännischen Tunnelabschnitte sind Gegenstand dieser Veröffentlichung. Die Südportale des Tunnels Dölzschen liegen in einer vertikalen, 65 m hohen Felswand, 25 m über dem Talgrund. Die Felswand erwies sich als global kippgefährdet, außerdem lagen flächig verteilte erhebliche Steinschlag- und Felssturzrisiken für Bau und Betrieb vor. Die Kippgefahr wurde durch ein Systemraster aus vorgespannten Felsankern, die Steinschlag- und Felssturzrisiken durch bergsteigerisches Beräumen mit dem Brecheisen, Felsnägel und Steinschlagschutznetze eliminiert. Der Tunnelausbruch begann von einer Vorschüttung direkt in der Felswand ohne Voreinschnitt im Schutz einer kurzen Luftbogenstrecke. Die gegenüberliegenden Nordportale des Tunnels Coschütz befinden sich in wesentlich flacheren Hängen. Nach dem Aushub einer mehrere Meter dicken Abraumhalde begann der Tunnelausbruch der östlichen Röhre asymmetrisch mit einer Luftbogenstrecke in einer spitzwinklig zur Vortriebsrichtung streichenden, 30° mit dem Vortrieb steigenden Felsfläche, ebenfalls ohne Voreinschnitt. Wegen der flachen Neigung der Böschung war der Tunnelquerschnitt erst nach 30 m vollständig überdeckt. Für den Vortrieb der westlichen Tunnelröhre mussten erst eine zwischen den Röhren vorhandene Felsnase teilweise abgetragen, die westlich anschließende zurückspringende Felswand vertikal gestellt und gesichert und Felsaushub in der rechten Flanke getätigt werden. Der damit entstehende Voreinschnitt wurde so kurz wie möglich und ohne seitliche Arbeitsräume ausgeführt. Die Sicherung der Böschungen erfolgte mit bewehrtem Spritzbeton und Felsnägeln. Wegen des geringen Abstands der beiden Röhren wurden die unteren Lagen der radialen Ausbruchsicherung durchgeankert. Der Tunnelvortrieb begann im Schutz eines geankerten Portalkranzes und ebenfalls von einer Luftbogenstrecke aus.

In carrying out the provisions as set forth by an Act of Congress (36 Stat. 369) approved May 16, 1910, effective July 1, 1910, and the amended Act of February 25, 1913, (37 Stat. 681), the Bureau of Mines, among other activities, conducts inquiries and scientific and technologic investigations concerning mining with a view to improving health conditions and increasing safety and disseminates the general information gained by these studies. Through the medium of these publications, the causes as well as the methods that have been found most satisfactory in combating undesirable conditions are brought to the attention of the mining industry. This bulletin describes health and safety reports that have been published for the period July 1, 1955, through June 30, 1961. Technical Paper 705 issued in 1948 contains a listing of all Bureau of Mines publications dealing with health and safety in the mineral and allied industries from 1910 through 1946; Bulletin 558 contains a bibliography of such reports that were issued from January 1947 through June 1955.

The small scale alluvial gold mining industry in Papua New Guinea (PNG) is c.irrently the only form of small scale mining carried out in this country. It already contributes significantly to the economy with current production estimated at 2 000-2 500kg per year. Until recently, small scale alluvial gold mining has been confined to simple panning and sluicing of high grade alluvial and colluvial deposits. Traditionally the small scale miner in PNG has only worked gravels with gold grades in excess of 500mg/m3. Grades of this order are required to justify the hard physical labour involved ~n hand operated small scale mining methods. .he introduction of higher throughput technologies such as trommels fed by hydraulic excavators has the effect of altering what constitutes an economically viable deposit. Mechanised techniques allow for the consideration of grades of almost half that level. The potential and opportunities for utilising this type of small scale mechanised mining in PNG are enormous with large areas of ground with gold grades running in excess of 250mg/m3 and often up to 2000mg/m3 throughout the country. An assessment of the current operating economics of this technology in the PNG context is the principal objective of this paper. Small to medium scale mechanised mining can potentially contribute significantly to the PNG economy particularly as it lies within the react-, of many PNG businessmen. Its potential is currently somewhat limited by a general lack of infrastructure and is also constrained by socio-political factors.

Gippsland has perhaps the most colourful history of exploration of any area in Australia. Hydrocarbons were first discovered in the Gippsland Basin in 1924 when a water well at Lakes Entrance encountered oil and gas shows. In 1942, the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments, in an effort to supplement a wartime oil shortage, sank a shaft near this well and produced 8000 barrels of low gravity oil up to 1956, when the field was abandoned. A total of 64 shallow wells had been drilled in the Lakes Entrance area by that time. Elsewhere in the onshore Gippsland Basin, 30 wells were drilled from 1925 to 1941. In 1960 BHP Ltd was granted an exploration permit covering much of the offshore area of the Gippsland Basin. Esso Australia Ltd joined BHP in 1964 and drilled the Barracouta-1 gas discovery in 1965. Since then over 100 exploration and appraisal wells have been drilled in the basin resulting in the discovery to date of some 3.6 billion barrels of recoverable oil and 8.8 trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas (Current remaining recoverable reserves are 906 million barrels of oil and 5.7 TCF of gas). Exploration in the offshore areas is actively continuing today and new discoveries are still being made.

An engineering investigation was carried out on the technical and economic feasibility of implementing flexible liner/backpacking support systems In an advancing tailgate longwall mine. The system for a model mine consists of a circular tube constructed of liner plates and flyash backpacking. Flyash is pneumatically stowed into the tailgate. Small amounts of cement may be mixed to improve the support capability of the fill In difficult local ground conditions. Water is added inside the nozzle immediately prior to spraying. Results of theoretical analyses and a field test show that the designed system is technically feasible, can be cost-competitive, provides more stable ground conditions, and can Increase productivity and coal recovery, when compared with existing retreat longwall systems. In certain mine layouts, the new system can reduce the direct mining costs by a significant amount. The system would be particularly applicable to deeper coal beds with bad ground conditions.

Results are presented of a study on the combined influences of ingot dendrite am spacing and thermo-mechanical treatments on the fracture behavior and mechanical properties of high purity 7075 aluminum alloy. The most important single variable influencing mechanical properties was found to be undissolved alloy second Phase (microsegregation inherited from the original ingot). Ultimate and yield strengths were found to increase linearly with decreasing amount of alloy second phase while ductility increased markedly. At low amounts of second phase, transverse properties were approximately equal to longitudinal properties. In tensile testing, microcracks and holes were invariably found to originate in or around second phase particles. Fracture occurred both by propagation of cracks and coalescence of holes, depending on the distribution and amount of second phase. IN most commercial wrought alloys, second phase particles are present that are inherited from the original cast ingot. These include, for example, non-equilibrium alloy second phases such as CuAl2 and impurity second phases such as FeA13 and Cr2A1, in aluminum alloys. A previous paper1 has dealt with the morphology of these second phases in cast and wrought aluminum 7075 alloy, and with their behavior during various thermomechanical treatments. In this paper we discuss the influence of the particles on mechanical properties and fracture behavior of the alloy. Previous experimental work indicating a direct and major effect of second phase particles on mechanical properties (especially on ductility) includes the work of Edelson and Baldwin on pure copper.' Also relevant are the many studies demonstrating the important effect of nonmetallic inclusions on the fracture of. steel.3'4 Work on aluminum includes that of Antes, Lipson, and Rosenthal5 who showed that a dramatic improvement in ductility of wrought aluminum alloys of the 7000 series is achieved by eliminating second phases. It now seems well established that included second phases play a dominant role in controlling ductility (as measured, for example, by reduction in area in a tensile test) of a variety of materials. There is, therefore, considerable current interest in the mechanisms by which second phase particles affect ductile fracture. Experiments done by various workers have shown that second phase particles or discontinuities in the microstructure are potential sites for nuclea-tion of microcracks and of holes,6-l3 which then grow and cause premature fracture and the loss of ductility. Theoretical attempts have been made to explain the observed phenomena; most are able to explain observations qualitatively, but lack quantitative agreement. Much experimental work needs to be done to aid extension of theoretical models. A recent review article by Rosenfield summarizes work in this general area.14 PROCEDURE Material used in the previously described study on solution kinetics of cast and wrought 7075 alloy1 was also used in this study. Procedures for ingot casting, solution treating, and working were described in detail in that paper. Test bars were obtained for material of 76 initial dendrite arm spacing (11/2 in. from the ingot base) and 95 µ initial dendrite arm spacing (51/2 in. from the ingot base) for the following thermomechanical treatments (solution temperature 860°F; reduction by cold rolling). a) Solution treated 12 hr, reduced 2/1, 4/1, and 16/1. b) Solution treated 12 hr, reduced 16/1, solution treated approximately 5 hr after reduction. c) Same as a) except solution treated 24 hr prior to reduction. d) Same as b) except solution treated 24 hr prior to reduction. e) Same as d) except solution treated 20 hr after reduction. Test bars were taken both longitudinally and transverse to the rolling direction. Transverse properties are in the long transverse direction; since the final product was sheet (0.030 in. thick), properties in the short transverse direction could not be obtained. Test bars were flat specimens, of gage cross section1/-| in. by 0.030 in. and 1/2 in. gage length. After machining the test bars, they were given an additional 1/2 hr solution treatment of 860°F and aged 24 hr at 250°F. Three bars were tested for each location and thermomechanical treatment, after rejection of mechanically flawed bars. The average results of these three bars are reported. Elongation was measured using a $ in. extensometer and reduction in area was determined using a profilometer to measure the area after fracture. INFLUENCE OF THERMOMECHANICAL TREATMENTS AND SECOND PHASE ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES Results of mechanical testing are presented in Figs. 1 to 4 and in tabular form in the Appendix. A general conclusion from results obtained is that details of the thermomechanical treatments studied were important only insofar as they influenced the amount of residual second phase. Transmission-electron micrographs of electro-thinned samples of bulk-aged Cu-3.1 pet Co alloy show an aging sequence, supersaturated solid solution — coherent particles — quasi -coherent particles — noncoherent particles. Hardening is due to precipitation of coherent spherical fee coball-rich particles showing coherency strain fields, which are resolved at between 15 and 30A diameter. Loss of- full coherency did not occur until well into the overaged region, even with the assistance of deformation after aging. Different average particle diameters of 123, 92, and 149 ± 10Å were observed in samples aged to peak yield strength at 600°, 650°, and 700°C, respectively, indicating that there is no critical size for peak hardening. Noncoherent particles tended to develop (111) faces and became octahedral in shape. Dislocations tended to nucleate spherical coherent particles which eventually grew together forming large elongated particles. The surface energy of a noncoherent (low-angle) inter-phase boundary is estimated to he about 50 ergs per sq cm. A number of particle lining-up phenomena were observed. Overaging is principally attributed to increase in particle spacing, progressive loss of coherency, and increase in amount of discontinzdous precipitation. COPPER dissolves about 5.6 at. pet (5.2 wt pet) of cobalt at 1110oC1 and the solubility decreases to 0.75 at. petl (0.54 at. pet)2 at 650°C and to 0.1 at. pet or less at lower temperature.' It has been known for many years3-5 that Cu-Co alloys are capable of age hardening. Since cobalt is fee above 417°C and its atom size is only about 2 pet smaller than that of copper, precipitation of coherent particles would be expected. The equilibrium phase precipitated at 700°C and below contains about 10 pet Cu in solution which tends to stabilize the fee structure, lowering the transformation temperature to 340oc.l The alloy is known to undergo discontinuous precipitation in addition to general precipitation; while the former can be seen with an optical microscope, the latter precipitates are not visible except in the grosly overaged condition.5, 6 Extensive use has therefore been made of the ferromagnetic properties of the precipitate in order to follow the course of aging, and it has proved possible to measure the average particle size, spacing, approximate shape, and volume fraction and to determine that the particles are coherent without ever seeing a particle (see for example Refs. 2, 7, and 8). The magnetic measurements of particle size are limited to diameters below about 120Å.7 The present study was undertaken using the techniques of transmission-electron microscopy in order to check the above conclusions, to extend the previous magnetic work to larger particle sizes, and to attempt a more detailed correlation of properties and structure. A portion of this work has already been published.9-11 The present paper is concerned with the metallographic features of precipitation in relation to aging curves. Bonar and Kelly12'13 have published preliminary results of a similar study on single crystals of Cu-2 at. pet Co. EXPERIMENTAL Preparation of Alloy. A Cu-Co alloy, containing 3.12 wt pet (3.36 at. pet) Co by analysis, was prepared from 99.999 pet purity oxygen-free copper and electrolytic-grade cobalt. The alloy was melted and cast in vacuo in a high-frequency furnace using a graphite crucible and mold: Analysis showed chat 0.004 pet C was picked up during melting. The 1-1/2-lb ingot was homogenized in hydrogen for 24 hr at 1000°C. Slices were cold-rolled to 0.005 or 0.003 in. thickness, with an intermediate 650°C anneal in hydrogen at 0.080 in. thickness. Batches of six to ten strips were solution-treated in sealed-off quartz tubes in high vacuum in a vertical furnace and quenched by dropping into iced brine containing a device which snapped off the nose of the tube. Solution treatment consisted of 1 hr at 990°C or 2 hr at 965°C. The latter was employed for all mechanical-property studies, since a tendency was noted for the higher temperature to give porous material. Strips were usually aged individually in a horizontal vacuum furnace, inserting into the hot zone and withdrawing into a cold zone without breaking the vacuum. This method gave a rapid heating rate, permitting the use of short aging times. "In order to improve ball milling efficiency in pellet plants, Companhia Vale de Rio Doce (CVRD), experiments new technologies in Santa Luzia (M.G. – Brazil) research center facility. Pilot grinding tests have been conducted with small grinding media, size distributed from 5 to 12 mm (millpebs). Tests have been conducted on an ore from CVRD’s Usina 5 Nibrasco, in Vitória, Brazil. A sample of the regrind circuit feed was obtained and used in comparative grinding tests with two types of grinding charges: 100% balls and a blend of 70% balls and 30% millpebs by weight. According to the balls charge, the grinding media mixture has showed the following benefits: reduction of the power draw, increase of the mill capacity, reduction of the circulating load and a slight increase of the ore blaine. Following the results obtained, CVRD is going to further explore the regrinding potential of millpebs.INTRODUCTIONCompanhnia Vale de Rio Doce (CVRD) is the largest mining company in Brazil. CVRD is involved in iron, base metals, gold and bauxite industries. Moreover, CVRD operates several pelletizing plants in Brazil and in other countries.CVRD’s Center for Mineral Development (CDM) is equipped with a comminution laboratory where studies are carried out that are aimed at the optimization of existing plants at several mining sites as well as the technical and economical feasibility of new projects. The laboratory is equipped with a complete pilot plant with several mills and classifiers, enabling continuous grinding tests in grinding circuits of almost any capacity and characteristics.In January 2004, CVRD undertook to conduct pilot tests at CDM for evaluating the effect of small grinding media on ball milling efficiency. Generally speaking, it is not unusual for operators to add oversize grinding media in a conventional regrind mill. This fact originates mainly from prohibitive prices of grinding media below 25 mm due to a production capacity decrease of grinding media producers. The size of the grinding media is an important variable affecting ball milling efficiency. Use of oversize balls decreases the number of contact surface between which particles can be caught and broken."

Carroll Cave, located in Camden County, in south central Missouri, is one of the most significant caves in Missouri with over 12 miles of mapped passages and over 100 known but unmapped side passages. In the early 1990’s there was a breakdown of the originally excellent landowner/caver relations as the ownership of the only known entrance moved to a new generation and grottos squabbled for control. Subsequently the current owner of the natural cave entrance refused to grant anyone permission to enter.

The room temperature tensile properties of commercially pure titanium and seven titanium alloys prepared by skull casting were determined in the as-cast and heat-treated conditions. Data were compared with property data from tensile tests on wrought alloys of the same compositions in the as-worked and heat-treated conditions. The alloys evaluated were Ti-5Al-2.5Sn, Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-6Al-4V-lSi, Ti-6A1-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo, Ti-6A1-6V-4Zr-4Mo, Ti-6A1-6V-2Sn, and Ti-11.5Mo-6Zr-4.5Sn. Test specimens were prepared from both static and centrifugal castings and from plate fabricated by forging and rolling vacuum-melted ingots. The data indicate that the alpha and alpha-beta alloys have strength properties in the as-cast condition that are reasonably close to the strength properties of their wrought counterparts in the as-worked condition. An exception to this was the Ti-6A1-6V-4Zr-4Mo alloy for which insufficient data were available to form any firm conclusions. Fine-grained cast structures of Beta III (Ti-11.5Mo-6Zr-4.5Sn) were shown to be generally stronger in the as-cast condition than the wrought alloy in the as-worked condition except for the yield strength of one structure that was unusually low. Heat treatment of this alloy produced properties that were unpredictable. Indications are, however, that optimization of heat treatment parameters for each cast structure could produce strength properties equal to that of wrought materials.

Critical and strategic metals are often present in small quantities in low-grade domestic ores. When these ores are leached, the resulting solution usually contains the metals in very dilute quantities. Selective electrowinning from dilute electrolytes was investigated by the Bureau of Mines. A metal deposit containing 84 pct nickel was electrowon from the leach solution of a complex domestic ore bulk flotation concentrate originally containing approximately 2 wt-pct nickel. Key to achieving accelerated deposition rates, in the case of dilute solutions, is the rapid movement of the electrolyte through the electrowinning cell. Pure, synthetic nickel electrolytes were used to establish deposition parameters, and to optimize electrolyte velocity or mass transfer rates. Hydrodynamic and electrodeposition parameters for both the synthetic and leach electrolytes are presented and the experimental research described. Selective electrowinning appears to offer a viable alternative to physical separation methods to obtain separate metal "concentrates" from low-grade ores.

HELIUM SHIPMENTS in 1964 exceeded the volume shipped during the previous year for the 15th successive time. Shipments from Bureau of Mines helium plants were 667.4 million cubic feet,2 about 6 percent more than in 1963. Production at Bureau of Mines plants totaled 784.5 million cubic feet. An additional 3,193.1 million cubic feet, which was produced by private companies participating in the helium conservation program, was purchased by the Bureau and stored underground for future use. The Bureau of Mines continued to sell helium at $35 a thousand cubic feet, the price established in 1961. Substantial railway freight rate reductions for tank car shipments of helium went into effect during the year, resulting in a lower delivered price for helium. Continuing a program of thermochemical investigation of compounds of to ferroalloy elements, this paper contains ins values of the heats of formation of two sodium molybdates (Na2Mo04 and Na2Mo207) and three sodium tungstates (NO2W4, Na2W207, and NA2W207, and Na2W4013). The experimental method was solution calorimetry. The solution medium was sodium hydroxide solution, except that hydrofluoric acid solution was used for sodium tetratungstate. The heat of formation values are given with reference both to the constit¬uent elements and to the constituent oxides. These data are of prime impor¬tance in the thermodynamic consideration of these substances, as their accumulation includes the most difficult and time-consuming steps toward evaluating the free energies of formation and thus the potential reactivities and thermal stabilities. Except for values for sodium monomolybdate and monotungstate, no previous similar data were contained in literature sources.

The Bushveld platinum group metal deposits are two distinct, shallow-dipping stratiform tabular orebodies which strike for many hundreds of kilometres. Mining is extensive, with depths ranging from close-to-surface to 2 300 m. The mining method is a variation of planar open stoping. Pillars are widely employed to support the open stopes. In the deeper levels, in-stope pillars are required to fail in a stable manner soon after being cut, and the residual pillar strength is used to stabilize the hanging wall. These pillars are commonly known as crush pillars. Little work has been done in the past to determine pillar peak and residual strengths, and pillars have been designed using experience and formulae developed for other hard-rock mines. This has led to over and undersize pillars with consequential loss of ore, pillar bursts and potential collapses. This paper describes a crush pillar design methodology, and provides design charts. Three mining environments were incorporated in the investigations, which included underground and laboratory measurements, analytical solutions, numerical model sand back analyses. The results of the study are suitable for the areas where the research was carried out, and may also be applied with caution in other similar environments.

The Bafq - Saghand ore belt (metallogenic zone) is the main region, where the major discovered Uranium resources are located. This belt is a unique Upper Precambrian terrane experienced Katanga ? Pan African tectono ? thermal events. The oldest sialic crust was formed during the middle Proterozoic and followed by K-granite intrusions of Lufilian Cycle (850-800 M.Y.).This event caused Tectono ? Magmatic ? Activization (T.M.A) characterized by intracontinental rifting and associated ore formations. This zone was considered as an iron ore belt in 1960s ? 1970s, and U ? Th ? REE belt in 1980s ? 1990s, but by new discovered of U ? Mo (Co, Au, As, Cu) mineralization is assigned as a U - Polymetal zone, hosting the full sequences of iron oxide (Cu, Au, U) ore forming groups. On the basis of detailed investigations this zone is characterized by the following peculiarities: This zone is the vestigial vessel of Gondwana basement, where the oldest granite and the first platform clastic cover is exposed. This zone is marginal part of Precambrian continental crust, consolidated in 1.3-1.0 B.a. The sub mature continental crust experienced Lufilian Orogenic and Katanga ? Pan African Tectono ? Thermal event by intercontinental rifting, and ore mineralizations. The ore forming stages were sequential processes, started by enriched mantle derived metallogeny, and ended by interaction of silanes/ HACONS (derived from outer core) with crust. The magnetite- apatite (REE, Ti) metallogeny developed from alkaline- ultrabasic magmatic differentiation, capable to from Au- Ni- Sulfide intrusive massifs during 850- 800 Ma. Degassing of silanes/HACONS from deeper level, not only caused mantle enrichment, and plume upwelling as a frontal load, but also played the main role to develop regional Si (-Na-K-Mg-Ca-Co3) metasomatism, and formation of U- Th- Ti- REE- (apatite, magnetite) deposits. The latest (583-510 Ma old) felsic magmatism was major IGU from U-Mo (-Co-As-Au-?Cu?) hydrothermal vein- type deposits. The albitite- type U- Ti- REE (Th) mineralization could be formed by interaction of ascending, and descending solutions along the deep- rooted structural conduits.
