IT has been found that, during any particular period of operation or in mining any particular area of the Castle Dome mine, there appears variation between mine grade and mill grade, thus Ear always in the plus direction. It would be interesting to know if this condition obtains at other properties, and, if possible, to alter the sampling methods or computations in order to get better agreement between mine and mill figures.

Electro-metallurgist for production of ferro-alloys, salary $200 to $400 depending on experience. No. 62. Man familiar with ferro-tungsten products of electric furnaces to draw up specifications for machine tools, to watch these tools in service and revise specifications accordingly. Salary $150 to $200 per month. No. 63. Engineers under 35 years of age for placer mining work in Belgian Congo; $1,500 to $1,700 plus traveling and living expenses, two years' contract. No. 67.

THE works heretofore used in carrying out the Bessemer process have been constructed substantially as follows : The whole works or plant has been divided into three parts. 1. The division in which the metals for conversion are melted. 2. The division in which the metals are converted into steel and cast into ingots, or the converting department. 3. The engine and boiler department which supplies the hydraulic power required to move the machinery, and which furnishes the blast used for converting the crude metal into steel.
