Coal Water Mixtures (CWMs) are densed suspensions of coal particles in water. Viscosity is one of the most important rheological properties of CWMs and it is desired to be as low as possible. The slurry viscosity was influenced significantly by additive formation, the particle size distribution and the ash content of the coal. However, the influence of dispersants is most obvious. At present, there are several kinds of dispersants such as polymeric styrene sulfuric sodium, lignin sulfonate, humate, polycarboxy salt, ethylene epoxide surfactant. In this paper, a newly synthesized CWM dispersant has been reported, which is an efficient anionic surfactants of polycarboxylic acid type. The synthesis process includes three steps. At the beginning, the polyglycol acetate ester has been performed by acetic acid and polyethylene glycol (PEO) on the condition of acetic-acid/PEO ratio 1:1.1, at 368~373K for 30 minutes. Then the macro-monomer is prepared through the esterification of 85.71% acrylic and 14.29% polyglycol acetate ester, at 368~373K for 10 minutes. After that, the polycarboxylic acid CWM dispersant is polymerized using proper proportion macro-monomer, acrylic (AA) and sulfonic styrol sodium, at 368~373K for 1 hour. This new dispersants are used in the coal water mixtures formulation. Four kinds of coal used in the experiment are Shuang Yashan, Tunliu, Luning, Changcun samples. ? The highest concentration for shuanyashan coal is 70% when the dosage of dispersant is 0.4%, and the content of -200 meshes particles is 75.53%. As the dosage of dispersant de-creases to 0.25%, the Shangyashan CWM concentration is 67%. ? For Tunliu coal CWM concentrations are in the range of 76% to 75% when dosage of the dispersant changes from 0.4% to 0.25% at the same particle size distribution of 83.5% minus 200 meshes. ? The highest concentration for Luning coal is 69% when dosage of the dispersant is 0.4%, and the content of -200 meshes particles is 88.86%. ? For Changcun sample, the coal concentration of CWM is 73%~75% when dosage range of the dispersant is 0.35%~0.5%. The experiments show that the synthesied dispersant is quite promising for some coals CWM preparation, but a little bit coal-dependent. The Proximate and Ultimate analysis, surface characteristic measurement have been made to investigate the interactions between coal and additives.

An innovative hybrid technology for beneficiation of difficult-to-process sedimentary copper ores comprising acidic leaching stage of the feed combined with subsequent flotation has been presented. Acidic leaching, preceding the flotation process, plays a beneficial role of efficient chemical grinding for liberation of copper sulphide minerals finely disseminated in the copper-bearing carbonate-shale rocks. The process was applied on a fully industrial scale. Flotation results were analysed for both chemically modified and unmodified flotation feeds. After several months of industrial scale operation, it was found that both metals recovery and concentrate grade remarkably increased as a result of application of chemical modification of the flotation feed. Beneficial effects of chemical pre-treatment of flotation middlings on selectivity at a comparable concentrate yield in industrial flotation scale, revealed a considerable increase of the total copper recovery by 3.5percent. Based on the industrial and laboratory investigations we consider a further development of the process and introduction of hydrometallurgy for better recovering of metals from low-grade copper concentrates

"Airlift reactors are used in a wide range of industries, such as hydrometallurgy, biochemical processes, chemical process industry and waste water treatment. With increasing superficial gas velocity three circulation regimes can be defined: no gas bubbles in the downcomer, gas bubbles remain stationary in the downcomer and gas bubbles in the circulating regime. In this paper a numerical modelling method was presented for gas-liquid flow in airlift reactors under different bubble recirculation regimes. Gas-liquid flow was modelled using the Eulerian two-fluid equations, and extra user defined subroutines were incorporated to consider the complex physics, such as bubble induced turbulence and turbulent dispersion force. Some alternative correlations of drag coefficient were used to capture the bubble distributions in the riser and downcomer of the airlift reactor, with consideration of the interaction between bubbles. As using constant bubble size is hard to describe global characteristics of the flow in airlift reactors for three circulation regimes, a model including multiple bubble sizes was presented to get more accurate simulation results of gas holdup and water velocity. Also, the inhomogeneous MUSIG model was used, as an exploration, to compute the complex flow regimes. The MUSIG model is a population balance method to predict the bubble sizes, taking break-up and coalescence into account. The modelling method was applied to a laboratory internal loop airlift reactor, and the simulation results were compared with the experimental measurements of Simcik et al. (2011) for gas holdup and water velocity. The three bubble circulation regimes were observed from simulation figures. Reasonable agreement was obtained over a range of operating conditions, and an improvement was demonstrated using the proposed methods."

"Lithium is the lightest of the metals, with high reactivity and great electrochemical potential. It has a low thermal expansion coefficient and high caloric value, and it forms very light and resistant aluminium alloys. These properties make lithium an attractive element for use in battery manufacture and glass and ceramics production, in addition to its applications in the aeronautic industry. Today, two sources of raw material are economically viable for lithium production: pegmatite rocks and brine. The world production, in 2012, was approximately 150,000 tons of LCE (lithium carbonate equivalent), almost triple the production in 2000. The forecasted consumption for the current year, 2013, was approximately 162,000 tons of LCE, and for 2020, it could be as much as 280,000 tons of LCE, stimulated essentially by the growth of world production of electric (EV), hybrid (HEV) and hybrid plug-in vehicles (PHEV), the batteries of which are based on Li-ions. With the growth of world demand and increasing prices, lithium minerals such as spodumene, petalite and amblygonite, once considered uneconomical for the production of lithium carbonate, are regaining their economic value. New projects to produce lithium compounds based on mineral sources are being developed in many countries, aiming to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate (99.95% Li2CO3). Although Brazil has large lithium pegmatite reserves, the domestic production of lithium carbonate and hydroxide is very low, at approximately 600 tons of LCE, which represents 0.4% of the world production. The application of these products is mostly in the grease and ceramic industries. The national lithium market is under government protection due to its potential use for nuclear purposes. Thus, the industrialization activities and import and export of ores and lithium minerals, as well as organic and inorganic products, such as metallic lithium and lithium alloys, are controlled by the National Commission for Nuclear Energy (Comissão Nacional de Energia Nuclear - CNEN). The objectives of this work to quantify the real lithium demand in the Brazilian market, considering that a large amount of lithium is indirectly imported in the form of the Li-ion batteries used in equipment such as mobile phones, cameras, tablets, notebooks and e-bikes, and to compare this demand with the current national production of LCE. Finally, some technological alternatives will be discussed, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of the lithium industry in Brazil."

The production of phosphate concentrates (phosphate rock) from slimes represents a challenge to the phosphate industry worldwide. In Brazil, this challenge is particularly relevant due to the consistently low P2O5 grades and the igneous origin. The first industrial experiences of producing phosphate rock from slimes (-44µm or -325#) fraction started at Arafertil, currently Bunge Fertilizantes SA, in Araxá, in the 1980.s. This production corresponds, nowadays, to 35% of the total production of concentrates in the company (830,000t/year) in a circuit consisting of desliming in 40mm microcyclones and concentration in flotation columns, corn starch and fatty acids being utilised as reagents. The performance of slimes flotation and the process control, at Bunge´s concentrator, were improved after the introduction of column flotation technology, in the first half of the nineties. The column flotation technology for slimes recovery was expanded to other Brazilian concentrators still in the nineties: Ultrafértil (Catalão - GO), Bunge (Cajati - SP), Fosfértil (Tapira - MG) and Copebrás (Catalão - GO). At present the Brazilian production of phosphate rock is approximately 4.5Mt/year, with a strong trend for a market increase. Genuinely Brazilian technology is utilised for the processing of slimes, the concentrates representing 11 to 13% of the overall production. The production of apatite concentrates from slimes was relevant to increase phosphate recovery and reduce costs, contributing to the growth of the fertilisers industry.

"Russia’s rare metal reserves are composed of compositionally and structurally complex ores and are characterized by an increased content of natural radionuclides due to their geochemical similarity with rare metals. For instance, concentrates of Zashikhinsky daeposit are characterized by an increased content of uranium (0,06%) and thorium (0,59%); Beloziminsky deposit holds pyrochlore-apatite-magnetite-carbonate ores characterized by increased radioactivity (130 mkR/h) and containing 0,0016-0,0025% of uranium; Etykinsky deposit is characterized by columbite-pyrochlore-microlith mineralization with an average ore grade of 0,013% of uranium and 0,0020% of thorium; eudialyte concentrate of Lovozero deposit (Alluaiv area) belongs to Class II of mineral reserves. Industrial development of these mineral reserves involves the need to comply with environmental standards, public health requirements applicable to finished core and by-products, to take into account the amount and class of the generated radioactive waste, the possibility of disposal or recycling of the radioactive production waste. Concentration processes of radioactive rare metal feeds most often lead to a concentration of natural radionuclides and their accumulation in concentrates. Comprehensive hydrometallurgical processes are currently under development for such concentrates, aimed at producing salable products compliant with the radiation safety standards. The choice of the hydrometallurgical processing method for radioactive rare metal concentrates is based on the mineralogical component of the concentrate, textural and structural features, the distribution of valuable components and impurities, and the content of radionuclides. A systemic approach to the selection of processing methods, in particular integrating several methods, is an effective solution. Methods may not only be combined, but also inextricably linked with each other. Hydrometallurgical processing methods include leaching by acidic and alkaline agents; sulfatization for selectively decomposing the minerals and moving the bulk of U and Th into solution; fluorine extraction process. Methods of precipitation and co-precipitation, extraction (by liquid and solid extractants), sorption, and ion exchange are used to decontaminate the solutions by removing thorium, mezathorium, uranium, and their radioactive decay products. Agents used in hydrometallurgical processing of radioactive rare metal ores include sulfuric, nitric, hydrochloric, hydrofluoric acid, alkali (NaOH, KOH), sorbents (for example, AB-17) for sorption of uranium and extractants (mono- and bidentate organophosphorus compounds, diamides, etc.) for the extraction separation of rare, rare-earth, and radioactive elements."

Compressive crushing is applied in crushing plants used in mineral, mining, and aggregate in-dustry for fragmentation of rock materials. From a global perspective, the total volume of crushed rock is massive and corresponds to several billion tons. All societies have to fulfil a daily need of rock material products and its derivatives such as metals and minerals. The business for metals and minerals is global while the aggregates production is mainly a local industry. This paper presents a broader overview of optimisation with respect to product yield, use of natural resources and energy consumption. High level plant optimisation of compressive crushing plants is covered as well as real-time optimisation and optimisation of single production units. Each of three optimisation areas are presented and a discussion around how these three areas will be able to communicate with each other is given. Several models, e.g. process performance behav-iour with respect to wear, as well as fitness functions can be common for all three areas. Well-defined and representative fitness functions are of the utmost importance in order to assure that the optimisation results reflect the production targets. It is concluded that great benefits can be achieved by linking together different areas of optimisa-tion. The future for compressing crushing lies, without a doubt, in tailored processes both with re-spect to machines optimised for each customer, plant parameters and operation routines as well as an on-line adjustment, which takes into account current information and control possibilities.

Pyrite cinders is a complex raw material, in which the valuable metals are: Au(2.04 g/t), Ag(35.0 g/t), Cu(0.38%), Zn(1.1%) and Fe(56.0%). In this case high costs for mining and ore processing are not required. The hydrometallurgical treatment of pyrite cinders using thiourea, sulfite and cyanide solutions are examined in this paper. It was found that thiourea leaching is ineffective due to high consumption of thiourea and sulfuric acid. The cyanidation on pyrite cinders was conducted. Various options of the preparation of the products for the subsequent cyanidation have been examined. The tests on cyanidation process optimization were conducted. The effectiveness of these cementation methods by metallic iron or extraction for copper recovery from water phase has been shown. Zinc precipitation can be found in the form of carbonate. In order to recover noble metals from cyanide solutions, the cementation onto zinc dust was tested. The developed technology provides for recovery at 49-56%Au, 20-25%Ag, 22.5%Cu and 50%Zn during NaCN (1.4 kg/t) and CaO (6 kg/t) consumption. The results of pilot plant testing are the basis for technical regulations in order to design a pyrite cinders treatment plant. The technology has been examined in pilot-plant conditions. In this case the recovery of 54.5%Au, 45.3%Ag, 30%Cu and 49.9%Zn was achieved to provide saleable products. Keywords: pyrite cinders, thiourea leaching

The ?yield plastic? rheological model describes the flow behaviour of a variety of non-settling suspensions, including many types of mineral slurry. The current paper presents the laminar flow relationship (pressure gradient vs. flow rate) for a yield plastic fluid flowing through a pipe or cylinder. Simplified algebraic equations, suitable for engineering purposes, are presented for yield plastic fluids with values of the scaling factor in the range that includes most industrially important slurries. The laminar pipe flow relationship is one of the most important fluids engineering calculations. It may be used to determine the rheological parameters of a material in a capillary rheometer or flow loop. If the rheology is known, these relationships may be used to determine the laminar flow pressure gradient in pipelines of various sizes.

Empirical models used for predicting the performance of screens on the basis of capacity, cut size, water split and grade efficiency curves were evaluated. This paper reports experimental results obtained with single-deck Derrick screens. The performance of the screen was tested with limestone in a separate screen set-up, in a pilot plant and in industrial scale test runs. The results of pilot plant experiments showed that the measured water split was higher than the measured bypass. This is an indication to that water flow does not entrain the same proportion of all fine particles present in the feed which is advantageous for screening. The experimental design for the industrial test runs was made on the basis of the pilot plant tests. Suitability of the existing models has been checked and accuracy compared. The tests showed that best grade efficiency model was the Rosin-Rammler model. An empirical model for the evaluation of the model parameters as a function of pulp density of the feed and the load of the screen is suggested.

Results of the study targeted to development of universal acidic-extraction-precipitation technology for gallium recovery from the sublimates are presented in the paper. This will let to utilize a new non-traditional source for gallium production. Phase composition of gallium containing dust was studied. Forms of gallium in the sublimates were determined. The main form is Ga2O3, however, GaP form is also present in the cottrel dust and Na5Ga3F14 form is present in the dust of aluminum electrolysis. The possibility of gallium concentration was established via secondary pyro-selection of the dust. Kinetics of interaction of dust components with sulfuric acid was studied. The products of the interaction subsequently were leached with water. Optimum conditions for direct leaching with HCl and H2SO4 were determined providing gallium recovery from the cottrel dust and the ash carry outs up to 95 %. Gallium recovery from the primary dust and the secondary dust of aluminum electrolysis was at 52; 64 % and 63; 83 % respectively. Effect of Fe, P, K, Na and Al admixtures for gallium extraction from hydrochloric acid solutions was studied. It was shown that gallium chloride complex (GaCl4-) is extracted into the organic phase from the following acid mixtures: HCl + H2SO4, HCl + H3PO4, HCl + H2SO4 + H3PO4, HCl + HF. Kinetic regularities of gallium extraction in the system (tri butyl phosphate) TBP ? HCl - Ga were studied using diffusion cell method with agitation. Optimum conditions for gallium extraction from complex hydrochloric acid solutions with TBP were found providing 99.9 % recovery and separation coefficient for gallium and iron (III) of more than 25 in one stage. Sodium hydroxide and water were selected as reagents for re-extraction of gallium from the organic phase. Different options for disposal of by-products that are formed in the processing of cottrel dust, ash sublimates and dust of aluminum electrolysis were proposed and tested. The turbulence characteristics and measurement techniques for agitated tanks are well established for liquid and liquid-gas systems. However, the literature shows that the overall energy dissipation rate (related to turbulence) is affected not only by air addition, but also by the concentration of solids. Unfortunately, there are no reliable measurement techniques for characterizing turbulence in a three phase (liquid-solids-gas) environmental system, which is the case in a flotation cell. Therefore, the effect of turbulence on flotation kinetics is very much one of conjecture. The aim of this work was to develop a sensor to characterize the degree of velocity fluctuation, which is related to turbulence, in a flotation cell operating with slurry and air. This sensor comprises a piezoelectric film transducer that converts mechanical to electrical energy. Hence, when the sensor deflects backwards and forwards an AC voltage is created. Flotation studies carried out using this sensor in a 3m3 Metso RCS cell processing a copper sulphide ore showed a highly turbulent impeller zone with transition to a significantly less turbulent zone in the upper portion of the cell. The transition region moves as the cell operating variables are changed, for instance the impeller speed, impeller size, air rate and feed solids concentration. Based on the flotation features of coarse particle mineral, a new type of impeller & stator unit is developed. Particles suspension state generated by this impeller & stator unit under different speeds are tested in laboratory, and critical impeller speed suit for coarse particles flotation is presented. Comparing particle suspension parameters of the new impeller & stator unit with that of KYF impeller and stator unit, it comes up that the distance between the interface of two slurry circulation channels and the cell bottom is larger in the flotation cell with new impeller & stator unit. The test results indicate that the new type of impeller & stator unit is suitable for processing coarse particles due to its good suspension capacity for coarse particles. "In flotation practice, a good recovery of minerals largely depends on the degree to which the valuable minerals have been liberated from the associated gangue during the grinding process. Therefore, a regular measurement of the degree of liberation can provide data for the assessment of the quality of separation and predicts the effect of changes in the grinding-classifying circuit on flotation process. Generally, the standard procedure for measuring the degree of liberation requires the preparation of polished sections - a time consuming operation that also has the disadvantage of providing an overestimated number of free particles because of the stereological nature of produced samples.The present work is an alternative approach to avoid these miscalculations and establish a system of control for fluorite flotation plants. The system deals no only with the state of liberation but also the dynamic behavior of individuals particles and mineral components within the grinding-classifying and flotation circuits. It involves methods such as sieving, x-ray diffraction analysis, study of polished sections and microscopic counting of preliminarily sieved minerals particles from a fluorite processing plant, randomly dispersed on a glass slide, but not embedded in a resin mounting medium. If a complete information on the textural properties of minerals in the ore (including its mineral components distribution) can be obtained through x-ray diffraction analysis and study of polished sections, the microscopic counting is used to determinate with enough accuracy the mineral liberation, estimate the grade of fluorite ore and products, determinate the deportment and approximate recovery of individuals particles and mineral components within the investigated circuit. For a count of 100-1000 particles in each n-size range, the counting method was found to be a particularly reliable and less time consuming operation that could substitute the chemical analysis of fluorite ore for an estimate of the grade:"

A domestic tungsten-tin ore presents very complex property. How to effectively recover the scheelite, wolframite and cassiterite in the ore has long been a difficult problem to be solved urgently. On the basis of process mineralogy study, a main flow-sheet for effective recovery of tungsten-tin minerals has been developed, which including ?fine grinding of feed?bulk flotation of all sulfides followed by their selective separation?iron recovery by LIMS?tungsten-tin minerals bulk flotation using new technique developed by our institute?tungsten-tin recovery by gravity from above tungsten-tin bulk flotation tailings?. As for the treatment of tungsten-tin bulk rougher concentrate, several flow-sheets of tungsten-tin separation by direct hydrometallurgy or a flow-sheet consisting of scheelite cleaning at elevated temperature followed by the gravity separation of scheelite cleaner tailing?separation of wolframite from cassiterite by dry HIMS or by direct hydrometallurgy are developed. For a low grade head ore, all valuable sulfide, magnetite, scheelite, wolframite and cassiterite are recovered with satisfactory in lab scale test. Metallurgical treatments of sulfide ores containing copper and zinc are characterized by significant losses of base metals, particularly formation of the flotation tailings and slags during the dressing and pyrometallurgical treatment respectively. In addition, SO2 gas obtained during roasting and converting may be as raw material for sulfuric acid production. A treatment of the industrial metallurgical wastes has been investigated. Two samples of old pyrite tailings from two concentrators that contained 0.36% and 0.26% of copper and 0.23% and 0.22% of zinc were leached with 10% sulfuric acid in the column. Recovery of copper reached 47% and 38% while recovery of zinc was 47% and 41% from the first and second samples, respectively. The pregnant leach solutions contained 15.9 g/l and 10.5 g/l of ferric iron. Ferric iron is the strong oxidant and ferric containing pregnant leach solutions can be used for ferric leaching of different types of raw materials containing sulfide minerals. Therefore, ferric leaching of copper converter slag flotation tailings contained 0.53% of copper and 2.77% of zinc with the first pregnant leach solution was conducted. The effect of various experimental parameters on the leaching dynamics of copper, zinc, and iron under batch conditions was investigated. Under the best conditions (temperature 70oC, pulp density 30%) the recovery of copper and zinc reached 80% and 42%, respectively. Thus, it has been shown that acid leaching of base metals from old pyrite flotation tailings with using of the pregnant leach solution for the ferric leaching of copper converter slag flotation tailings is a prospective technique for the complex treatment of mining and metallurgical wastes. Investigated processes could be introduced into the technological flow-sheet of typical pyrometallurgical plants.

The development of surface charge of serpentine mineral and implications for sulphide ?otation have been studied through flotation tests, sedimentation tests, zeta potential measurements and optical microscope photos. The results show that the serpentine mineral was positively charged at an extensive pH range, with an isoelectric point (IEP) of 11.9. The magnitude and sign of the pyrite particles were pH dependent and were negative for pH values above 2. At pH value 9, where ?otation of nickel sul?de ores is routinely performed, serpentine and pyrite particles attract through an electrostatic mechanism. Slime coatings of serpentine adhere to the surface of pyrite, reducing pyrite flotation recovery. The removal of magnesium ions from the serpentine surface by acid leaching results in a decrease of serpentine IEP and eliminates the adverse effect of serpentine on pyrite flotation. Therefore, it has been clearly established that the surface charge value developed in the serpentine/aqueous electrical interface is a function of the serpentine surface incongruently dissolution. As a result of hydroxyl dissolution, the magnesium ions are left in serpentine surface, which is responsible for serpentine surface charge. The methods, which can remove magnesium ions from serpentine surface, can be used to eliminate the adverse effect of serpentine on pyrite flotation.

"The ore features of Mongolian fluorspar deposits are shown in the paper. The possibilities of the technological of ore processing on the Bor-Undur combine scheme improvement are analyzed there. Some recommendations are done for scheme development: spare output technologies, the usage large-sized ore separation, flotation by columnar flotation cells, leaching and concentrate agglomeration.New evaluation and usage of mineral sources approach was developed for Mongolian fluoride ores. The conception allows using maximally available mineral resources for getting of metallurgical and acid fluoride concentrates while mining and technological processes: mining (as well as quarrying) -storing, blending-crushing, grinding-combined processing methods-metallurgical using preparation It has been established mining and processing technological schemes should include:• spare blasting technologies providing minimum effect on fluorite crystals which follows ore selective excavation;• large-sized ore separation methods resulted in maximum recovery for these operations in respect to metallurgical fluorite concentrates;• grinding and flotation regimes providing high-quality flotation concentrates getting for their usein chemical industry;• fluorite concentrates agglomeration technologies for providing ability of their use in metallurgical and cement industriesThe results of industrial usage of jugging machines, columnar and pneumomechanical flotation machines for fluospar dressing.The technological approaches implementation in “Bor-Undur” plant maintenance within 1993-2002 years leaded to:• change plant status from just flotation one to gravitational-flotation characterized by technological process stages which are traditional for metallurgical industry and plant capacity increase from 400 to 600 thousand tones of treatment ore as well as concentrate production increase from 120 to 150-170 thousand tones including 120-140 thousand tones of acid grade concentrates with 97% CaF2 ."

Datun Concentrator currently processes complex sulfide ores in Gejiu Municipality, Yunnan Province, China. The ore contains much higher arsenic than other ores. The run of mine ore is fed to the concentrator to recover copper and tin by bulk flotation and gravity concentration, and then the other sulphides, such as pyrite, arsenopyrite, etc. didn?t get utilized and are discarded as tailings due to the high arsenic content. In order to utilize the pyrites in the tailings, a series of tests have been conducted for finding the solution of arsenic removal from high arsenic-bearing pyrite concentrates through simple flotation process. By means of orthogonal experimental design, the optimized levels and main factors have been found out for the roughing stage. Through selection of the effective in-organic depressants for the arsenic-bearing minerals, the arsenic in the pyrite concentrate can be removed to meet the requirement of sulfuric acid plant (As%=0.5%) by the open flotation process, i.e., one-time roughing and two-time cleaning.

"Coal is a crucial feedstock for South Africa’s unique synfuels and petrochemicals from coal industry and it is used as the main feedstock to produce synthesis gas (CO and H2) via the Sasol-Lurgi Fixed Bed Dry Bottom gasification process. Detailed coal characteristics are essential to predict gasification behaviour when a specific coal source is to be gasified.The principle aim of this paper is to highlight and discuss those specific coal characteristics, which affect gasification behaviour and stability.In order to determine the suitability of a coal source for gasification purposes, the coal is characterized and the results compared with historical data. Benchmark data, where it was possible to operate the gasifier with ease and relatively high stability, is used as a reference.Coal sources with extreme properties (i.e. low reactivity, ash content <10% as is used by Dakota Gasification Company, or “brown coal” with moisture >30%) can probably be gasified in a Sasol-Lurgi Fixed Bed Dry Bottom gasifier provided that certain operational changes are implemented. Other properties, like high caking and extreme ash content for example, require blending to acceptable levels."
