Aços resistentes ao desgaste são amplamente aplicados em partes estruturais que exigem propriedades como resistência mecânica, tenacidade e resistência ao desgaste abrasivo. O presente trabalho foi realizado devido à necessidade de desenvolvimento de materiais necessários para minimizar os efeitos causados pelo desgaste abrasivo. Os objetivos são: obter microestrutura multiconstituída (ferrita, bainita, martensita e austenita retida) por meio de tratamentos térmicos; e compará-la a microestrutura martensítica revenida. O aço estudado possui a seguinte composição química 0,26%C-1,13%Mn-0,92%Si-0,72%Cr- 0,29%Mo-0,18%Ni-0,17%Cu. Conduziu-se os tratamentos térmicos na sequência apresentada: recozimento subcrítico a 700°C, têmpera em óleo (temperatura de austenitização 940°C) e tratamento isotérmico de transformação bainítica (temperatura de austenitização de 820, 860, 900 e 940°C) ou recozimento subcrítico a 700°C seguido de têmpera/revenimento (940°C e resfriamento em água/250°C por 2 horas). Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura (MEV) foi empregada para se avaliar a microestrutura do aço. Dureza Rockwell C foi utilizada com intuito de comparar a dureza das diversas microestruturas obtidas. Constatou-se que com a diminuição da temperatura de austenitização houve decréscimo do valor de dureza; e as amostras temperadas e revenidas demonstraram dureza média maior que as amostras que passaram por tratamento isotérmico de bainitização. A microestrutura multiconstituída foi obtida.

Copper refining electrolytes are maintained in the range 60-65¦C to ensure an efficient operation. The heat energy required to meet these temperatures has been traditionally derived from the electrical energy required for the electrolytic process and supplementary steam energy. In 1983, experiments were conducted at Copper Refineries Pty. Ltd. (CRL) to determine the effects of insulating the Tank House cells, and fully covering the cells. The results of these experiments showed conclusively that greatly reduced steam consumption would be required to maintain electrolyte temperatures. These positive results led to an Energy Conservation Programme for the Tank House, and this was implemented in 1984. A computerised cell cover monitoring system was developed, and is used to control cell coverage and fluid balance. The experimental work and the benefits obtained since implementation of the programme are discussed.

The recent research with which this paper deals has been concerned with the preparation of pure PbTe crystals suitable for control of radiative processes and othe.v electronic applications. The research has been directed toward the developrnent of methods for the preparation of puve, homogeneous, loul-ca,wier-density PbTe crystals suitable for use in the fabrication of optically pumped and electrically pumped diode lasers. Steps in the preparation of the crystals include 1) purification of the starting materials, 2) synthesis and purification of the PbTe, 3) growoth of PbTe crystals, and 4) adjustt~zertt of composition of the crystals This Paper describes the general preparation procedure employed and discusses some investigntiotzs of purification processes. THE as-received lead and tellurium are nominally 99.999 to 99.9999 pct pure. Assays furnished by the suppliers, obtained by emission spectrographic analysis, show only the presence of about 2 ppm Mg in the tellurium. Such analyses are not very informative, however, since they give no information on the concentrations of normally gaseous impurity elements such as oxygen. Both the lead and the tellurium in the as-received state usually contain appreciable concentrations of oxygen—primarily in the form of oxides on the surfaces of the material. To reduce the oxygen content, the lead is held in the molten state in hydrogen at -700°C for several hours. For this treatment, the lead is contained in a graphite boat which is rf-heated, and the hydrogen is passed through a liquid-nitrogen trap prior to use. Tellurium is subjected to multiple distillation in hydrogen to remove oxygen and other foreign impurities. If, in conducting the distillation, approximately the last 10 pct of the charge at each "stage" is left as the discard cut, purification of the tellurium proceeds as indicated in Fig. 1.l Tellurium used in this work has been distilled two or three times to reduce carrier concentration to about 10" per cu cm. The PbTe is prepared from the purified elements by reacting them in the molten state in sealed, evacuated, or hydrogen-filled silica ampoules. The charge is usually held above the melting point of PbTe (923°C) at 1000 C for 24 hr to ensure that it has been homogenized. Two methods have been employed for the growth of the required single crystals of PbTe: growth from the melt, which will be discussed first, and growth from the vapor phase. Large single crystals of p-type PbTe can be grown readily from the melt by the Bridgman method. For this method of crystal growth, the PbTe is synthesized in situ from proper proportions of the purified elements. Growth (dropping) rates in the range 1.3 to 6.5 mm per hr are employed. Material near the maximum melting composition (about 50.012 at. pct Te) is utilized to avoid composition change on freezing, and thus to obtain crystals of nearly uniform composition. Crystals prepared by use of procedures described up to this point were sufficiently pure and perfect that they could be used for the preparation of laser crystals in studies at Lincoln Laboratory.2-5 ADJUSTMENT OF COMPOSITION Good n-type crystals of PbTe cannot readily be grown from the melt. Further, growth from the melt of crystals of any compositions (n or p type) other than those near the maximum melting composition is difficult because of the large composition changes that must occur on freezing.'" However, melt-grown crystals can rapidly be brought to other desired compositions by isothermal equilibration through the vapor phase with a two-phase Pb-Te stock material, essentially as described by Brebrick and Allgaier.1 The work to be discussed has been concerned with the preparation of n-type crystals; thus, the two-phase stock which was employed contained excess lead, and all ensuing discussion is of the preparation and properties of n-type crystals. The equilibration was designed to the shift composition to the lead-rich limit of stability at the selected temperature. Initial treatment of the crystals at high temperature was employed to minimize the total time required for the equilibration. Measurements have been made of solute segregation during dendrilic growth by using radioactive solute elements and ,measuring the activity of den(12-ites cut from decanted specimens. This has been done for both lead awl tin based binary alloys contaitzing the following solute additions: Ag, T1204, was dependet on ko, the equilibrium distribution coefficient in the following way Fay k &apos;c 0.1, C/C 0.6; for k0 >0.1. 0.6 <c,/c,< I. Qualitative obse?-vations were madc of dendritic segregation, by using autoradiographic techniques, for the Sn + Ag110 and Sn + Tlo4 systems. The observation were found to he in general agreement with the measurements ofCA/Co. Autoradiographic were also obtained of scctiolccl delzr11-iie stalks. These indicated that the stalks had a substructure, dclileated by solute corzetlt?atio?zs nlolg the substructure walls. A new dendrite growth direction <JI2> is reported for tila. SOLUTE segregation in dilute binary alloys has been investigated by Pfann,&apos; Smith, Tiller, and Rut-ter,&apos; and others. They considered the case of a slowly advancing plane solid interface, and derived expressions for the distribution of solute in both solid and liquid during solidification. To determine these expressions, they assumed no diffusion in the solid and either complete mixing in the liquid:&apos; or diffusion controlled solute movements in the liquid without any convective mixing.&apos; The present investigation considers solute segregation during dendritic growth, in which case the solid-liquid interface is not plane, and the growth rates are rapid. Segregation under these growth conditions has not been treated mathematically, because of the relative complexity of the system. It has been suggested by Chalmer, on the basis of preliminary results, that an alternative to the diffusion and heat flow controlled conditions during growth is &apos;diffusionless" dendritic growth in which solid is formed with the same composition as the liquid. He suggests this type of growth may depend upon a solvent-solute relationship that permits some solid solubility without excessive increase in internal energy, as is the case for solutions of tin in lead. On the other hand, Montariol,4 and others, have shown experimentally that some segregation does occur during dendritic growth in metals using etching and radioactive tracer techniques to indicate the concentrations of the solute. The present investigation was undertaken to determine, both qualitatively and quantitatively, the extent of solute segregation associated with dendritic growth in a series of binary alloys, as a function of solute concentration. PROCEDURE The solvent materials used were Vulcan Electrolytic tin (99.997 pct purity) and Tadanac lead (99.998 pct purity). The solute materials were Zn, Sn, and Sb (better than 99.998 pct purity), Ag and Co (99.5 pct purity), and T1 (Fisher "purified" metal sticks). Activation of the solute metals was carried out in the reactor at Chalk River, Canada. Master alloys were prepared by induction heating from the radioactive solute metal and the pure solvent, under argon, in graphite crucibles. Pieces of these alloys were then added to the solvent to give the required solute concentration. Dendrites were grown in essentially the same manner as that described by Weinberg and Chalmer, , in which controlled orientation single crystals were grown dendritically in horizontal graphite boats, and the liquid decanted. The crystals were grown and decanted in an atmosphere of tank argon. Before decanting, a sample of the liquid was drawn up in a glass tube and allowed to solidify rapidly. The orientations of the single crystals were such that <loo> was parallel to the growth direction, and (100) in the horizontal plane for lead, and [1101 and (110) respectively for tin. With these orientations long dendrite stalks formed along the bottom of the boat in the dendrite direction (<100> for lead and [I101 for tin) from which secondary branches grew. Only these secondary branches, which grew freely in the liquid from the dendrite stalk to the liquid surface, were used in the measurements. Accordingly, effects due to substrates and oxides on the surface of the liquid need not be considered. Nowadays, technology has improved to extract dimensional stone blocks at quarry sites and also to process these at processing plants for making slabs and tiles. In the process of quarrying and processing, performance evaluation of machinery is very important to achieve optimum output at minimum cost with improved technology. Cost analysis of improved technology includes parameters such as manpower, energy consumption, tool consumption, depreciation, maintenance and also others. The chainsaw machine with long boom and rail in marble quarries and multi-diamond wire saw machine for slab making from granite blocks at processing plants have recently been introduced in India. Thus, a study was carried out under a research project on these machines to assess their suitability. In this paper, performance evaluation and cost analysis of chainsaw and multi-diamond wire saw have been carried out with existing machines on the basis of research findings.

Niobium-tin has been prepared on insulating suhstrates hby simultaneous hydrogen reduction of gaseous niobium and tin halides. Stoichiometric material is greater than 98.8pct theoretical density, appears to he single-phase, and has a total impirity level less than 0.3 at. pct. Transition temperatures and lattice constants may he related to composition. Typical current densities in various fields and orientations are given. IT is known that Nb3Sn carries large current densities in high fields, 1 and exhibits an unusually high transition temperature2 and critical field.3 For these reasons high-field solenoids have been constructed of this material.4 Because of the emphasis on solenoid fabrication, much of the materials research has been directed toward development of wire geometries wherein the brittle Nb3Sn is supported by a more malleable metal or alloy. There are, however, basic studies and applications that can be carried out only on Nb3Sn supported by an insulator. Insulating substrates are desirable for a number of reasons: the substrate does not interact with applied or induced currents and fields; diffusion of metallic species into the de- posit is avoided, both during the preparation and during subsequent heat treatment; irradiated samples are not more active than the deposit itself. Unsupported Nb3Sn geometries may also be prepared by preferential chemical dissolution of the insulating substrate. This report describes the preparation and properties of Nb3Sn deposits on ceramic substrates. Experiments currently utilizing material prepared in the manner described in this report include the following: dependence of current-carrying properties on field strength and orientation 5,6 radiation damage,7,8 tunneling,9 thermal conductivity (substrate removed),1° microwave surface impedance," tube magnetization,6,12 resistivity as a function of temperature,13 and current density and transition temperature as a function of annealing.14 Possible practical applications include magnetic shielding, superconductor generators, and frictionless bearings. PREPARATION Methods for the deposition of elemental niobium and tin by hydrogen reduction of the gaseous metal halides have been known for some time,15,18 but only recently a procedure was developed in this laboratory17 for the codeposition of these two metals on a hotwire as the intermetallic compound, Nb3Sn. This method of simultaneous hydrogen reduction of the gaseous niobium and tin chlorides is used for the preparation of Nb3Sn On ceramic substrates. The mucus secreted in the respiratory tract provides the first barrier against inhaled particulate and gaseous toxicants. The major component of mucus which is responsible for the physical properties and protective functions of the respiratory mucus is mucin. We have initiated investigations to determine the effects of coal mine dust on the synthesis of respiratory mucin by rat trachea under in vitro and in vivo conditions. In this study we have established optimum conditions-:ro-r~ the asceptic growth and mucin secretion of rat tracheal explants in culture. The best outgrowth of ciliated epithelial cells and maximum mucin production was obtained in CMRL 1066 medium containing 10% fetal calf serum. The explants continued to secrete mucin even after three weeks in culture. For the estimation and characterization of mucins the tracheae were cultured in the presence of [3H] glucosamine and [35S] sulfate or [14C]leucine. The mucins were isolated from the medium by gel filtration, treatment with hyaluronidase, ion exchange chromatography and CsBr density gradient centrifugation. Precipitation of polyanionic material in the culture media with cetyl pyridinium chloride and fractional extraction with NaCl also yielded mucin free of glycosaminoglycans, but in low yields. The tritium label in the purified mucin was distributed in sialic acid (50%) galactosamine (37%) and glucosamaine (13%). The density of purified mucin as determined by CsBr gradient centrifugation was about l.43g per ml in comparison to l.46g per ml for human respiratory mucin with a carbohydrate content of about 80% by weight. Alkaline borohydride treatment released saccharides which contained about 80% of the radioactivity. The effect of adding varying amounts of coal dust to the culture medium is under investigation. "A coal mine in New South Wales is longwall mining 300m wide panels at a depth of 160-180m directly below a 16-20 m thick conglomerate strata. As part of a strategy to use hydraulic fracturing to manage potential windblast and periodic caving hazards associated with this conglomerate strata, the in situ stresses in the conglomerate were measured using ANZI strain cells and the overcoring method of stress relief. Changes in stress associated with abutment loading and placement of hydraulic fractures were also measured using ANZI strain cells installed from the surface and from underground. This paper presents the results of in situ stress measurements and stress change monitoring undertaken as part of the hydraulic fracturing program.Overcore stress measurements have indicated the vertical stress is the lowest principal stress so that hydraulic fractures placed ahead of mining form horizontally and so provide effective pre-conditioning to promote caving of the conglomerate strata. Monitoring of the full-scale hydraulic fractures has confirmed the hydraulic fractures grow horizontally.Stress changes monitored during hydraulic fracturing formed part of a broader program to investigate fracture geometry and growth rates to confirm the characteristics of the hydraulic fractures placed. This monitoring showed that vertical stress in the conglomerate strata was being increased by up to 1 MPa in close proximity to the hydraulic fracture and had the effect of tending to promote asymmetrical growth of subsequent fractures about the injection borehole.Monitoring of stress changes in the overburden strata during longwall retreat was undertaken at two different locations at the mine. The monitoring indicated stress changes were evident 150 m ahead of the longwall face and abutment loading reached a maximum increase of about 7.5 MPa. The stresses ahead of mining change gradually with distance to the approaching longwall and in a direction consistent with the horizontal in situ stresses. There was no evidence in the stress change monitoring results to indicate significant cyclical forward abutment loading ahead of the face consistent with the observations of face conditions underground adjacent to both measurement locations. The forward abutment load determined from the stress change monitoring is consistent with the weight of overburden strata overhanging the goaf indicated by subsidence monitoring."

The corrosion of aluminosilicate refractories by soda from three different sources has been studied by microscopic methods. Sodium sulphate from oil ash, sodium chloride used in glazing structural clay products, and sodium borate from borax-impregnated wood ash have fundamentally the same effect on the refractories. The soda is the chief medium of reaction and fluxing, the sulphur, chlorine, and boron being volatized as sulphuric, hydrochloric, and boric acids.INTRODUCTIONBecause of their strong fluxing action, alkalis are one of the main causes of corrosion and slagging of refractories.The action of potash and soda on refractories follows somewhat similar lines, although it is common for one alkali to be greatly in excess of the other. The course of the reaction in a number of cases of alkali attack has been studied by microscopic and chemical methods. For example, the action of potash on blast furnace refractories was studied by Kraner (1942) and Rigby and Richardson (1947), who described the occurrence of various potassium aluminium silicates. Its action on cement kiln refractories was described by Brisbane, Segnit, and Weymouth (1957). The action of soda on glass tank refractories has been studied by many people, for example Bisby (1956) and Resch (1954). Particle size enlargement processes play an important role in solid/liquid separation, and in beneficiation unit operations. In the latter, not only the size of the formed aggregates but also their surface properties are very important. Oil agglomeration has a special place among such processes: it is a selective process in which hydrophobic particles are agglomerated into hydrophobic agglomerates which can be recovered by flotation. This explains the broad applications of oil-assisted beneficiation processes not only in the beneficiation of fine coal, but also in agglomerate flotation of many different types of ores, and in coal/gold agglomeration.

INTRODUCTION Reasons for Thermal Drying The continuing increase in the percentage of minus %-inch coal produced as a result of the increased use of mechanical mining methods has, over the years, tended to shift considerable portions of the work of producing saleable coal to the fine coal cleaning section of the preparation plant. Because a given weight of fine coal will contain substantially greater surface area than an equivalent weight of coarse coal, it follows that, when subjected to wet cleaning processes, the fines will absorb and retain consider- ably more moisture than coarser fractions. Increased moisture pickup in the finer sizes complicates fine coal cleaning since beneficiation may not be limited to the removal of ash and sulfur but often must be expanded to include the additional step of thermal drying to remove excessive moisture. Thus, water which provides the medium for cleaning fine coal is in itself detrimental and, like ash and sulfur, reduces coal quality. Removal of surface moisture by drying is done for one or more of the following 1 reasons: (1) To avoid freezing difficulties and to facilitate handling during shipment, storage and transfer to the points of use; (2) to maintain high pulverizer capacity; (3) to reduce heat loss due to evaporation of surface moisture from the coal in the burning process, thus increasing heating efficiency; (4) to improve the quality of coal used for special purposes, such as in the production of coke, briquettes, and chemicals; (5) to decrease transportation costs; and (6) to facilitate dry coal-cleaning processes. Because benefits to coal transportation and utilization are the most common reasons for thermal drying, the following sections will examine these areas in greater detail. Benefits to Transportation Initial benefits from drying are the reduction of shipping costs from the mine to the point of utilization since more coal can be concentrated into a given weight of product when worthless moisture is removed. Non- combustible~ such as water and mineral matter in railroad shipments of coal are billed the same as coal at $3.32 per ton, according to the recent average costs. Savings of 10 to 20 dollars from drying on the shipment cost of each 50 to 60 tons of coal contained in a typical railroad car is common. Savings on coal shipments from individual mines which result from coal drying can be expressed in terms of hundreds of thousands of dollars and more each year. For example, a reduction of shipping charges of only 5 percent on one million tons per year would mean a savings of 166,000

"Modern history is full of breakthroughs in technology, all striving to increase productivity and efficiency. What are the elements that should be taken into consideration in the design and implementation of modern automation systems in a control room? Both industry and international standards are now demanding that Human Factors be considered as part of the design of control rooms to maximize efficiency and minimize the potential of human error which can lead to downtime and a loss of profit as a result of interruptions in production. As the current workforce ages and the younger generation matures, this is also becoming a key element when planning a control room. New standards are helping to address some of these challenges that are facing the mining industry today. With an increased focus on the operator, an intelligent and ergonomic workspace can both mitigate risk and optimize production. Optimization is money. We will examine how to analyze and implement innovative control room planning to maximize mineral processing production and minimize risks that can impact overall production and profit.INTRODUCTIONIn this day and age, optimization of production in an industrial environment is becoming more and more of a challenge. With ever changing technology as well as other external factors, this can be especially daunting. There are several key elements that may not be immediately obvious when planning a control room design or renovation, most notably the role of the human in this environment. Fatigue, stress, distraction, reaction times and situational awareness are all critical in a 24/7 environment. With the growing need to include human factors when considering and designing an optimal work and production environment, it is becoming even more important to design a control room that can address as many of today’s challenges as possible.The standard definition of the word “optimization” is “an act, process or methodology of making something (as a design, system, or decision) as fully perfect, functional or effective as possible.” (www.merriam-webster.com). If we apply this to business, what it really means is finding the most cost effective way to achieve the highest level of performance while considering constraints, both external and internal, by maximizing the desired factors and minimizing undesired ones. Sometimes, however, we can get caught up in the day to day processes, without taking a moment to step back and objectively review what it is we need to achieve, and more importantly, the steps that can facilitate our success."

Assembling consistent data for a 40-year time series is a challenge because of the many changes that have occurred in this period. In many cases, because of process improvements and consumer requirements, grades of materials change in a 40-year span. This can lead to a wide fluctuation in price data simply because of increased costs for premium grades. Sources for obtaining price data can also change during a 40-year period. Changing the data source also introduces anomalies in a time series. In some cases, published price data are not representative of the real value of the material and provide little basis for further analysis. For some industrial mineral commodities, there are only a few producers, and value and production data are considered proprietary. In the data presented in this chapter, every attempt was made to ensure that the data were as consistent and representative of the industry as possible. However, the factors mentioned above may have introduced inconsistencies in some of the data series. Many different factors influence trends for industrial minerals because of the diversity of end uses for these commodities. Trends in production and prices for most of the industrial minerals can be related to one or more of the following: changing demand or technologies in end-use industries, development of new end uses, the effect of environmental regulations, production and processing technology changes, energy costs, foreign competition and substitution by other materials, and production as a byproduct of other minerals. World economic conditions, such as recessions and inflation rates, also play a part in some production and price trends. Data for 40 years of production for industrial minerals in the United States are presented in [Table 1] in 10-year increments. Unit values for the industrial minerals, in actual and constant 1990 dollars, are shown in [Tables 2 and 3].

Virtual Reality (VR) simulations are excellent tools for training, education, simulation of abnormal and dangerous conditions in mines and solving complex problems. Although the concept of VR has been around for nearly half a century, it has taken recent advances in hardware and software to bring this technology to within the budgetary reach of ordinary users and researchers. VR is now successfully being used in the minerals industry for: data visualization, accident reconstructions, simulation applications, risk analysis, hazard awareness and training. The Institute of Sustainable Minerals Industry, Advanced Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality Research Group (SMI-VR) at the University of Queensland, established in late 2000, has been involved in developing VR applications for the minerals industry in conjunction with various research centres. This paper illustrates the benefits of using advanced computer graphics and VR techniques in the minerals industry with some examples of applications developed.

As the mining industry begins efforts to examine the feasibility of extraterrestrial resource utilization, the extraction and processing of icy regolith containing water and other volatile materials will be the initial focus for future expansion of capabilities. Pure water is essential for human consumption, and a source of oxygen and hydrogen. The latter, along with the volatile materials, lend themselves to the creation of fuels that may be used for further space exploration at distances not currently feasible. For any extraterrestrial scoping project, the transport of materials to geoscientists remains virtually impossible. Therefore, analysis must be done in-situ, possibly millions of miles away from the nearest human. To address the need for geologic resource estimation in the absence of geoscientists, an infrared framework has been developed for the analysis of water ice content in simulants of permanently shaded lunar regolith. This framework relies on a convolutional neural network model for the rapid analysis of percent water ice content in samples, at which point standard geostatistical methods may be employed.

In the past five years Cuba has been attempting to more than double its nickel production by constructing two new ammonia leaching plants. No metals are yet produced on commercial scale but a variety of oxides and sulfides. This report updates the Cuban nickel industry as a result of two visits : one at the invitation of the Cuban Ministry of Basic Industries in 1987 and the other as a consultant to the United Nations for the Cuban Laterite Project in 1989.

The Bureau of Mines has found considerable lack of uniformity in style and content of record books used for reporting the results of examinations made by coal-mine officials. These books range from elaborate forms designed for specific examining and operating procedures at certain large mines to simple composition books, tablets, and pocket-style notebooks at other mines. Examination of thousands of these record books discloses that the reports of many examinations are so brief and so poorly worded that they cannot be understood readily. The contents, in some instances, appear to be deliberately ambiguous. The value of keeping accurate accounts of safety inspections in coal mines is often underestimated. Well-kept records reflect managerial attitude and indicate well-governed operations as well as training of official personnel to conform to considered policy and regulations and if necessary, may serve as documentary evidence to protect the mine officials and the operators.

THIS preliminary report from the Committee to Study Relations Between Students and the Institute is submitted to our member- ship for consideration and discussion before the general subject comes up for action at the Annual Meeting in February. At present, the A. I. M. E. has a dual relationship with mining students, each relationship in no may connected with the other. To the individual student the Institute offers for $2 a year a Student Associateship in the Institute which carries with it a subscription to MINING AND METAL- &apos;LURGY, a watch fob, and the privilege of becoming a Junior Member after graduation without payment of the -first year&apos;s dues, if one&apos;s application is accepted. To the student&apos;s college society it offers the privilege, upon application, of becoming &apos;an Affiliated &apos;Society, which brings with it no specific supervision or aid, and in turn requires no specific conditions as to membership, fees, or rules. This Affiliated Society is distinctly a school organization which Student Associateship in the Institute can he given special status or ignored, is the local .society sees fit.

Porosity and bulk-and sand-grain-density values were determined for 2,040 core samples of 30 formations from 47 wells in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, and are compiled for petroleum industry use in well-log evaluation and geologic studies.
